Ran around for about five minutes, killing everything encountered in the woods. Seems to be about a 10% improvement. What was 45 FPS is now 50. This is all RT settings on, DLSS set to Quality, everything else maxed (but no DoF or motion blur or chromatic aberration)

Good to still be playing it so I can experience dat horizon based ambient occlusion.
114 hours in. Just got to the point of commitment last night. Probably finish by tomorrow night. Then, it's on to the DLCs!

New patch:
A hotfix for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is out on PC. It primarily addresses the performance issues that appeared after Patch 4.01. The game version won’t change.

Good they're still working on it. After a couple of reloads raytracing goes on the fritz, sluggish framerates, flickering global shadows, sometimes the ground turns neon green. Indoor areas are often impossibly dark as a rule.
I've disabled raytracing for the most part. Game still looks great without it. Maybe if they fix it, I'll change my ways.

Really enjoying this next-gen update. It adds a ton of life to the PS5 version. Runs good and looks good. Think I am going to be in on another full play through (3rd time). Playing it again reminds me of why it was so good. It really highlights shortcomings in all modern open world games. It still has a bit of clunky battle mechanics but vastly improved. But the whole world building, characters, plots, and sub-plots are just miles ahead of any modern games. The choices you make in the game have real moral outcomes. Not just manufactured game outcomes. Playing as a nice-guy hero will backfire at times. Going the other way will also get you in trouble. What I am coming to realize is that CDPR designed the game so you HAVE to play as Geralt, not yourself. If you want the best outcomes in the game, ask yourself, “What would Geralt do?”. Play as a Witcher, not some character you imagine. I think it is brilliant writing and dedication to detail that even side quests reward you based on this same criteria. I think all other open world games today ignore this and make the game they think the “player” would want to play instead of creating a world and inviting the player to join in. This is why the Witcher is still in a class all it’s own.

After the patch, game runs much better however, moving the mouse around slowly, I'm getting jittering. Movement isn't smooth and quite annoying. Any ideas how to improve that?

If I turn it off I lose almost half the FPS but then there is no hitching w/ DLSS + nVidia reflex on+boost. Using frame gen, the reflex is only on but no boost. So at least this is causing the issues in my rig. I am playing 4K DLDSR and that is also a possibility for the issues.
Either way, once game has been played for around 5 minutes or so things go back to normal and how I am able to do combat properly. Very annoying nonetheless.
Actually scratch that. Real issue was when you turn on frame gen vsync was on. I had to turn it off, turn off vsync and now with frame gen on it seemed to be better. Not 100% but a lot better. Will continue testing. Game like dope. Met Triss. Looked 100x better than the show. Not sure when I can bone her as I think in this playthrough I may have already boned Yen.
1. Open Nvidia settings and open the profile settings for the game (you can use global, but not really recommended)
2. Force Vsync on in the profile and save it
3. In game, turn OFF vsync
4. Turn on frame generation in game
That's all there is to it. If you have vsync on in game with frame generation, it'll hitch like crazy. You have to turn it on in the CP instead and off in game.
Note frame generation works best with Gsync enabled since Nvidia added Gsync support to DLSS3.
I have every single setting maxed, in game framerates to 120fps, frame generation and gsync enabled, DLSS Quality and have a perfect 120fps which is smooth and stutter free in all the areas I been so far. Looks really great in HDR too
Could have swore I posted this already but don't see that post anywhere.Last edited by Exposed; Jan 25, 2023, 06:24 AM.

I am in my third W3 play through and am still finding new story lines. I can’t, for the life of me, even remember anything concrete at all in Elden Ring. It’s still a great game though.
That makes it that, unfortunately, a lot of people won't get some story beats and I think that's not their (the players') fault.

The game looks great on PS5. RT is really nice, at times. Especially inside where the ambient light works best. But 30 fps is not playable. Movement with the game has always been a bit jerky. The higher fps make a huge difference in gameplay. So no RT for me. Regardless, the best thing about this version is the dense plants and grass. Looks far better than original. As far as exploration goes, I forgot how many goodies are just lying around waiting to be found. I explored around Velen a lot and now my character is OP for most encounters. Finally got some cash together too. Invest in decent saddle bags when you can. Carrying as much as possible and selling it is a good way to get more cash. The cost of the saddle bags pays for itself in convenience of not being overloaded so easy.

i also don't see Eldenring anywhere NEAR the depth storywise to Witcher. I wouldn't compare both titles at all, but that might be just me.

Combat is easier because of the better frame rates. Even on the PS5 with only 60 fps you can really dodge and attack far more effectively now. The quick sign capability is a huge benefit also. That fricken wheel is unusable. It used to be the main reason NOT to use a controller. I can completely recommend the game using a controller now.

I found setting a 60fps cap and then enabling frame generation is smooth, at around 120fps without hitching.

Yeah I've defeated some really high level monsters. I don't think I was able to do this before. Not sure if I'm just better at combat or if the gear I have is that much better than it was when I first trudged around.
One thing I've noticed is trophies are near impossible to get. I only have two of them, both showed up in the first hour of gameplay (am almost 40 hours in now)..

Downloaded the latest patch. Had a look around in the display settings, noticed NV reflex low latency was off. Thought that was on by default in most games? Anyway, set that to On + Boost and she runs much better now. It's not 100%, still get some jitters but it's now playable.
