Its quite amazing how much they crammed into this game.

I think I boned most of the side quests other than armor crap.

I actually found the Witcher gear scavenger hunts to be some of the best side quests in the game. Not only do you get awesome armor and swords once fully upgraded, but they implement cool backstories into the search as well. But while they didn't have elaborately rendered cutscenes with cool characters, I just enjoyed the searching around and discovery. Just a really relaxing part of the game that I liked a lot.

The scavenger hunts for armor were fun imo. And yes, you got some worthy rewards for your trouble.

I just finished the first level of feline armor and am only about level 22 ish or so. I have a lot more ahead of me in the main story (just finished the Caer Morhen (sp?) section which was fun). I kinda wish I could play as Ciri more. But for now, just revisited the crones, and trying to figure out if I want to bone more of the main story and get to the expansion DLC faster or go after the Griffin and other collections.

Any way to level up faster? Just keep main questing or grind out side quests?

In case you weren't aware, one thing about experience points and leveling up in this game is quest XP rewards scale with your level. For example if you hold off doing any quests that are recommended at say level 10 until you are at a much higher level (like 22 where you are now), you will get next to nothing for XP when you finally get around to do them. Its laughable, like 1 XP for completing the quest. Make sure you try to do all quests that are around your recommended level before moving on or you will forfeit those experience points.

Basically, just don't ignore any quests you started and keep leveling up from the main quests. Because when you go back to them you wont get much XP from them. I think because of this design, the game encourages you to be doing secondary quests along side the main quests that are of matching recommended levels.

Personally this runs contrary to how I prefer playing my RPGs. I tend to like doing all the main quests stuff first to keep the sense of urgency relevant, and return to the secondary quests later. But it is what it is in this game.

The boning has to happen at or around the level you are at. Otherwise you get jack shite. Also main quest XP is way too much compared to sides.

Don't side quests fail if you level too high or ignore them too long anyway? I seem to remember seeing quest failed for a couple I neglected....

I don't think they fail simply because you've gotten too high leveled or ignored them for too long. Just when something story related happens to circumvent their purpose in the game. Like said, you'll just get next to no XP once you finally get around to finishing them.

I could be wrong though, since I originally played the game back in 2015/2016 and did most of the quests back then.

You're right, they aren't time or level sensitive. They are progress sensitive via the story and intertwined events. There may have been a couple that were time sensitive due to a time constraint from that quest itself (I cant remember all of them), but generally they weren't.

Would be dumb if you lose out on an earlier quest because you were too high level. They deal with it pretty well, by reducing the amount of XP you get at higher level since the challenge becomes non-existent.

By the way LTTP but I am playing through Hearts of Stone right now. I remember people saying this was the worse of the two expansions. Well I'm wondering how awesome Blood and Wine must be because Hearts of Stone has been great so far!

Yeah, people need to use different descriptions...unless they actually thought it was BAD.

Sure, one is probably better than the other. That doesn't mean the other one is bad though. What should be said is, "Blood and Wine is the best of the two", and leave it at that. No more implications that Hearts of Stone is a poor expansion.

Hearts of Stone was better than a lot of complete games...

Well ****, this is good to learn. I was noticing exp was sometimes really low but didn't pay attention to what level the quest was.

Oh by no means was I under the assumption it was bad. Just that since I'm enjoying it so much I'm wondering how good Blood and Wine must be since its regarded as being better (and bigger).

Its quite nice to know I've still got good Witchering to look forward to for a good while to come.

There are a couple related to the main story line (One specifically regarding Radovid) that if you don't do by a certain point in the main quest with Ciri, you'll fail that quest. At one point you get a warning that certain options won't be available if you proceed past that point. I just replayed the main story line since watching the Netflix show because it was several years since I played the game. It's still one of my all time favorite games ever and I'm not a hardcore RPG guy.

There is a mod you can do to give all relevant XP regardless of your level. I use it so I can go back to them later and still get full XP.

Blood and Wine is better than Hearts of Stone in my opinion. A whole new land to explore and another great story. Hearts of stone was good though.

We’re working on the next generation edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt!

Developed to take advantage of the most powerful gaming hardware, the next-gen edition of the game will feature a range of visual and technical improvements — including ray tracing and faster loading times — across the base game, both expansions, and all extra content.

The next generation edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will release as a standalone purchase for PC, Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, as well as a free update for everyone who already owns the game on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

They are also going to add HDR to the pc version with this patch.

Awesome news. Looking forward to another playthrough. Wonder how raytracing will be implemented here. DLSS would be the icing on the cake.

Are they though? They have made so much money off of their fans and customers, i doubt anything they have been putting back into the game even this upcoming stuff is hurting their profits. They know what it is that makes them worth their customer satisfaction and they are simply playing into that. It's great for everybody. I don't think they are being too generous though.

5 years and countless deep discounts later the fast majority of people that would ever buy The Witcher 3 have already done so. Making a major update and having it be free to owners is incredibly generous, because I doubt they will get many new buys out of it.

It's called customer service. They are trying to make their customers enthusiastic about their company so you will remain loyal to them for all new releases they make. They are creating a brand that differentiates them from many other developers. it is a great new trend to start in the industry. They have me sold!

They certainly don't have to do it, and most companies won't put any resources into a game this old. There's no return on the time investment.

That said, Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk probably use very similar rendering engines, so not difficult to do (hell, they probably developed the Cyberpunk engine in Witcher 3 first so that they'd have all the assets, etc, and not have to wait on level designers, etc.)

Why do this update? One, because the work was probably mostly done anyway, and why not throw their valued customers a bone? Two, it gets their name back in the news and drums up goodwil, making people excited about the new game coming out.

Read this news today. I literally waited 5 years to play W3. The DLCs were out, most bugs fixed, etc. I didn't have a good rig at the time, and currently my video card isn't the best (GTX 1070 and I prefer 4k max gfx or go home). I should have the game done by the time they add raytracing. The game's worth another play through though.

That's usually my problem with such features (DLSS) included. They're beyond awesome, but they always get added after everyone's pretty much done with the game.

Anyways, more witcher is always good.

I've been wanting to play through it again as well, so now I'll wait and maybe it'll be the first game I play with ray tracing.

I intend to pay full price for Cyberpunk 2077 when it comes out. I haven't done that in years for any game...YEARS! I always buy deeply discounted PC games or 2nd hand for console games. With what CDPR has done for the gaming community, IMO..I intend to do my part and give them some dough.

I would love to support them, but I'm vehemently against having my game library scattered across 20 different platforms and quite frankly Steam is still the first and best of the bunch.

Meanwhile, some Steam games will integrate into GoG directly. Also as mentioned they can be run from GoG Galaxy as well as MS and Epic games etc.
