There's no conflicting quests in the DLCs. You will even get specific passing reference dialogue if you beat the main quest/found Ciri or not. I remember this happening in the first DLC, the second (blood and wine) would matter more towards the end if you beat the main quest or not and what happened to Ciri.
Thanks for the nice break down - I'll suffer through the full game first lol, then hit the dlc.

Sidenote - it feels like they've tweaked movement/combat somewhat since it was released. Everything feels tighter, less twitchy, which was one of my very few beefs with the game on release - very nice.

    Sidenote 2 - I really need a 1080 ti

Everybody needs a 1080 Ti. Especially people using AMD cards...

I seem to recall the game ran perfectly fine mostly at 60FPS on my 980Ti at 1440p. All settings High or more, except Hairworks which never warranted the performance hit.

Finished the Witcher 2 this morning (took the Roche path, killed the dragon and Letho). I'm a little intimidated by the length of the Witcher 3. Super excited to start playing it though, should be able to easily max it out at 3440x1440 on my Titan Xp's

I couldn't get it to run fine on my 980Ti at 1080P.

A 980 ti is a pretty good step up from an R9 290, even overclocked. I've actually been browsing them on ebay just because I won't spring for a new 1080 ti.

I do have it pegged at 60 though, mix of high and medium, but mostly high settings. CA and vignetting being disabled seems to help a lot. I ran it at 1080p with more high settings and it looked great too though, maybe even a bit better so I might go back to that.

I'm still figuring out which settings in the AMD CP are worth using or not too, so that's probably having a bit of a negative effect on frames.

I played it the same, 980 Ti at 1440p all settings max except hairworks.

I tried hairworks for a while but honestly didn't think it was worth the fps hit. Would rather have a solid 60fps most of the time than a barely noticeable gimmick.

Once they gave you the ability to lower the quality of hairworks, it became worth using.

I decided to put the side quests on hold and find out which ones were going to be unplayable after arriving to Skellige Mist. If anyone is interested, the following three incomplete side quests on my list were marked as failed:

                      A Deadly Plot
                      Cabaret
                      Redanias Most Wanted

There might be a few more to add to that list but I wont know which ones they would be as I may have completed them before hand.

@lazy shoot for the low end of your freesync range and not 60 fps, should allow you to up a few settings and still remain smooth

I think deadly plot fails if you don’t go into the bar immediately. I have had that happen to me and it has nothing to do with Skellige.

You’re wrong about Skellige. It fails if it is not completed when going to Skellige mist, not Skellige itself.

Thanks Higgy - been playing around with this and yep, it's getting there.

Megaman - thanks for the tips on the quests

Terrible terrible game, it does not even reach the fantastic quality of E.T for the Atari. Stay away from this game and pick up E.T instead.

I just finished Fyke Isle and the Bloody baron quests. The story arcs are simple, but they still managed to put some serious depth to some regardless of that.

I'm being careful to complete quests as I meet their level requirements as well this time. I seem to remember a few failing my first play through because I had leveled too much, or progressed to far in the main story, something like that.

Really appreciating this much more the second time through.

How far do you gents go as far as discovering as much as you can before moving to the next area? I like hitting what I can before getting bored to find materials and hopefully more powerful weapons. I also run into the red skull areas - I need to write those down so I don't forget them later lol. So much content in this game.

How far do you gents go as far as discovering as much as you can before moving to the next area? I like hitting what I can before getting bored to find materials and hopefully more powerful weapons. I also run into the red skull areas - I need to write those down so I don't forget them later lol. So much content in this game.
Turn off the question marks in the map, and leave it up to chance and exploration to discover things, if you go around completing all the questions marks, 95% of them are fairly generic, and it will level you out way past normal quest levels. The down side is that some of them are awesome/great events and even new quests, but not many of them are, and it will still impress you more to discover them on your own than to golooking for those question mark spots.

The same goes for monster hunting, 95% are generic, and the other 5% are great fun times, so dont try and go out of your way to do them all, just do them as you find them, or when you need a break from something else maybe.
Never put off tomorrow what you can put off today!

I think I said this before but I liked that throughout the Witcher games, the layout of Kaer Morhen stayed the same. Even that hole in the wall you made in the first game.

Unlike Dragon Age, where Redcliff and its surrounding areas were COMPLETELY different from Origins to Inquisition. Like they hired map designers who had no clue of the prior games.

I can look through some other screens I've taken and they do look a little blurry...but they sure aren't when playing the game. The biggest issue is taking the screenshots kills the clarity. I was doing that at first until I started taking high quality 4k images through Ansel. I've resized them down to 1080P, but that sure didn't hurt the sharpness/quality.

Like you said, the clarity doesn't carry over well.

It isn't a knock against anyone's system or technique. Quite a few I've seen online don't look very good either. It's an insanely beautiful game, even at medium settings, so why that doesn't get captured in shots....don't know. Not really important to me, just an observation.

edit: I'm dying to just rush through the main story so I can jump into the dlc, which I've never played, but the game has me so hooked right now I just don't want to miss anything. Awesome

My character is too weak to take on any of the side quests and constantly get my ass kicked, I don't have any money to buy anything to improve the situation and I just ride my horse around doing nothing. Just like my real life.
