I originally got into this for about 10 hours before stopping and taking up another game then later formatting the PC.
I'm now restarting W3 but with 3 mods. Turbo lighting, HD Reworked project and beautiful rocks.
Everything maxed, DSR 1440 and those mods, the game is stunning. This GTX 1080 is just kicking back, handing out FPS like its nobodys business.

I started my second playthrough this week too. Heavily modded as well.
Inventory mods are very nice too.The auto-apply oils mod is great.

Graphic mods in Witcher 3? Unbelievable. Game was already the most gorgeous thing out .. still gives everything a run for its money.
Playing at 3440x1440 100Hz GSync was honestly the greatest SP gaming experience I've ever had.Originally posted by curioEat this protein bar, for it is of my body. And drink this creatine shake, for it is my blood.

Its a beautiful looking game, no doubt. But honestly I was more impressed by the high quality and attention to detail throughout every facet of the game's quests. Literally all of them, from the main quests to the lowliest of side quests are lovingly thought out, and crafted to be intertwined with the game world.

Thinking back on the game now I actually struggle to seperate some of the main and secondary quests in my mind as they were all so well done and interwoven.
I've also been interested to see from other peoples comments and videos how much I missed in the game. I'm not ready yet but this is a game I really want to revisit in time.

The one thing that bugs me is the wind. It seems the wind is always blowing like 100mph and bending trees in half, and you have to constantly see and hear that. It's so annoying to me.

Bought TW3 for Christmas, and I've put ~30 hours into it since. I'm really enjoying it and I think I understand its graphics: it's the technology and atmosphere combined that makes it work. The world feels like a live, actual world, not just a canvas for loot. I love the lighting and weather effects.
All in all, The Witcher 3 feels a bit like a Skyrim sequel with everything ramped up to "Awesome". The games have a lot in common (open world medieval rpg), and I loved Skyrim, but I think it felt more stiff or something. It's been too long since I played it to give a proper assessment. Needless to say, TW3 still is great.May the Yods be silent

Witcher 3 looks gorgeous any way you look at it. Not about being advanced, but about how the world is created, the atmosphere, the sounds, design. Everything fits and comes together beautifully.[Good Old Games]- No DRM or Copy Protection

And having real music, as in recorded music of actual people. In a studio. With all the imperfections that throws you off and gives it soul. The music in this game tells a story long before it's played out.
Outcast and Gabriel Knight 2 stand out too in this regard.-
I miss seing Dawn on my Eizo T965 21" CRT with ATi 9700 PRO. RIP.

Haha, i was waiting for that. The world really does take your breath away.
Hint: Don't ever use the fast travel. Just travel off road and explore on the way to places, even after you think you know everything by heart. After two play throughs, it STILL gives me chills when crossing over a hill ridge or something similar and seeing the beautiful world they created.
I hope that when we do return to the world they built in a future game, they give us plenty of replay ability outside of the story, as i loved the sotry, i have been through it enough, but i would love to keep exploring that world.Never put off tomorrow what you can put off today!

The intro into w3 if far slower and dull compared to the previos 2 games, and it takes more liberties on you already being invested in it, as opposed to the last two games which were basically do the intro or die. Here it's oh look, i guess i could do the story quest, but i mean, it doeasn't really seem all that urgent, ima just play gwent a bit... or maybe go and look at that statue over there, oh look an empty village, meh what was i doing again?Never put off tomorrow what you can put off today!

To each their own, but combat has never been a priority for me in a game like Witcher and I feel a great many RPGs ( Dragon Age and Mass Effect most obviously ) would have been a lot better if they didn't think they needed almost every scenario to be a running battle.

You really have to get good at using dodge and roll and the appropriate times to use which one. Also against human enemies parrying is very useful to learn. I remember first starting out I could hardly ever win even the easier battles without taking a few hits due to clumsiness, but later on I got better and could easily avoid all attacks.

Never did understand all the complaints about the combat. it's pretty decent. It's not amazing, or even great, but it's serviceable, and better than a lot of other games.
Only tip about combat i guess i can say is, if yuo are not enjoying swinging a sword around, try one of the other three styles. Either crossbows or bombs/alchemy or magic. Also, if you pay attention to the skills, and actually make a "build" instead of just taking whatever you feel like at the time, no matter what you pick, you WILL become a god and just kill everything with ease by the end.Never put off tomorrow what you can put off today!

Almost everyone who dislikes W3 has the same issue. Not playing any of the other games leaves you unprepared for the scale of the game. Almost everyone that doesn't like it played a few hours and "just couldn't get into it". The Witcher 3 is a huge investment of time. IMO, the best way to enjoy it is to give 100% of your gaming time to it. You have to give into the game and live in the world. This means extended gaming sessions over many months. No other game has made me want to put this kind of investment in. I have yet to play anything that compares to this game. But that is also a weakness because it makes the game inaccessible to many players because it requires a different level of commitment in order to fully appreciate it.

I'm addicted to games with a good story, and a major completionist. I've played tons of RPG's. On top of that, I've played the other Witcher games and loved them.
Witcher 3 just started off a bit slow. Sometimes that's all there is to it.
