Quick question on story progression, about how many hours left is there of the main quest line once you assemble your allies to kaer morhen?
I'm thinking this can't be the end yet since I'm only level 24.
Quite a bit more. Feels like an end game at that point but it isn't. You'll know when the real end game comes.
Funny thing about end games. I thought when (spoiler safe for you if you're at that point, but maybe not to others)
going to get Ciri the first time in that island
, that was the end game.
Nice. I was starting to think I must have rushed the main quest too much.
I have been trying to do more secondary quests and contracts as of late, trying to level up enough to use the superior griffin armor. Also, I am finally finding a decent enough challenge if I do quests that are 10+ suggested levels above me. I was avoiding them before but now I see doing those is basically the real hard mode in this game. Did a lvl 30 contract on Skellige last night with a pretty nasty Endrega that was almost like a decent boss fight.
The home is the first and most effective place to learn the lessons of life: truth, honor, virtue, self control, the value of education, honest work, and the purpose and privilege of life. Nothing can take the place of home in rearing and teaching children, and no other success can compensate for failure in the home.

90 hours in and finally made it to lvl 26 and upgraded my griffin swords and armor to superior.
I wanted to upgrade before the next part of the main quest and it was getting pretty tough finding decent experience rewards in the few secondary quests and contracts near my lvl that were still available to me.
Do all sign posts show on the map even before you find them? Seems that way. If so I believe I have visited every sign post in the game now. Unless more happen to pop up later.

Nope. Many signposts don't appear unless you discover them.

Whoops, sorry I meant notice boards.
I know for a fact there were lots that were showing on the map long before I visited them, because I spent the last few hours in the Skellige Isles journeying to them in locations I had yet to visit.
Yeah, i think for once they could keep making expansions and people would keep buying them. Usually two for an rpg is the sweet spot, but this world they built... i can't wait for their next "witcher" game. I know geralt is done, but if they make a skyrimesque game in the witcher world... i mean... i would *big bang*
Never put off tomorrow what you can put off today!
Just finished the game. Level 34, 103 hours, all mastercrafted griffin gear.
Just an all around great game, probably the best RPG made to date although I felt the endgame battle was a bit underwhelming. I was really hoping for a big elaborate boss fight, but what I got was really easy with a simple gimmick trick to defeat Eredin.
Ah well, can't fault a 100+ hour master piece of a game for a 5 minute sequence at the end that wasn't all that great. If anything the story all came together at the end, and made perfect sense. No complaints there.
I look forward to getting the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine DLC, but not right now. Going to give it a rest and play some other games. May pick this up again some time middle of next year, maybe after I'm done with Dark Souls 3.
Jim Lahey: You know whats at work here? Its **** tectonics. When two **** plates strike and come together under incredible pressure, what happens Bubbs?
Bubbles: What Mr Lahey?
Jim Lahey: ...****-quake.
The Witcher 3 took home the grand prize at this year’s 2015 Game Awards, beating out Bloodborne, Fallout 4, Metal Gear Solid V, and Super Mario Maker to win Game of the Year.
How easy is using the controls during the combat system on third one? I had no problem playing Witcher 1 since it's easy combat system, but I was hard time playing on Witcher 2...and it's on sale...I can't be sure if I really want to get this game.

The combat is more similar to Witcher 2, but it is improved upon.
Takes a good bit of getting used to though since its a little clunky at times, but once you are its fairly adequate for an action RPG.
I see...what about the controller? Is it easy to play with controller? Do you recommend using the KB/M? No?
I think any 3rd person game in which you can slow down and speed up your character's movement with the analog stick is better played with a controller.
Its definitely playable with a mouse, but I would expect the controls to be even more clunky.

I actually found the mouse and keyboard controls pretty good. Bit of a learning curve but once you figure it out, its pretty good imo.
Those expansion screenshots look amazing - I really need to finish the Heart of Stone expansion over the long weekend.
On a side note, I have been playing the game down-sampled from 5120x2880 on my ROG Swift and it maintains frame rates over 30 minimum with Ultra settings if I drop the Hairworks AA down to 2X. That G-sync module really comes in handy when my frame rates are in the 30-40 range.
Finally finished Hearts of Stone and now I am ready for Blood and Wine. CD Projekt Red sure know how to make a good story. I wish they would keep cranking out expansions for this game.
Sadly, unless they surprise us and release a true Redkit after all then there isn't much the mod community can do in the long run.
It would be nice to see some talented people do for this game like they have done with the Elder Scrolls games. I would love to see a jungle environment area added to the game, for example.

They are gonna make more witcher world games, just no more geralt stories.

The Adventures of Triss the red-headed Sorceress?
Turn Yennefer into the new Bloodrayne?
Adventures of the inferior witchers Lambert and Eskel?
Create an all new character that would be a disservice to followers of the series, and the original novelist and books this very game was based on? Not to mention, everyone will hate at first because nobody likes sudden new character changes?
I think we will see another Witcher game involving Geralt. However it will be after fan feedback and the realization they won't make nearly as much money with another direction. Like when id said they would never make another Doom game before Rage.
Honestly, the only witcher game I would be interested is one that involved Ciri or Lethos as the main character. Other than that, they will have to work real hard to gain my interest, whereas Witcher 4 with Geralt automatically has my money.
One, how are lambert and eskel inferior? I am pretty sure they are all masters of different arts, and are equals because of it.
Two, they could very easily make a game where you make your own character and play in a world before the destruction of the witchers.

This.
The issue is that
Ciri may or may not be dead in some playthroughs, and even Letho
so maintaining that is tricky.
That said, I'm pretty sure they'll move right back to Geralt eventually as it's the strongest economic decision.

Lambert is a cry baby that always needs help. This was obvious from his related quests and the night of the witchers.
Eskel has no related quests, but if you read his background stories, including those in the game, you get the general perception he's just not a strong witcher because he's never taken any truly challenging contracts like Geralt did.
Also, I wouldn't be interested in a "create your own witcher" like Dragon Age. The Witcher is a strong piece of art that spawned a Polish TV series, movies, books, etc..
To take the game and turn into "Mass Effect: Andromeda" would be a huge middle finger to the Witcher 3 fans (of all media), and I'm pretty sure this will not go well.
Of course, I have a strong suspicion that won't be the case, and if they do spin off, it will likely be with Ciri. This is why they had you play as her throughout parts of Witcher 3.
