I've got the ghost version of the hornet. Looks pretty sweet and fits one "role" I'd like to end up playing in game.

Pretty much this. I have more pressing matters to be sinking money into. I watch the progress of this game, and am greatly encouraged, however I think I'm going to wait untill it is out before soaking much more money into.

Tried getting involved in their forums. My impression is that about half the people are members of some cult that worship the developer and most of the rest are a bunch of crazy people.

At first I just wanted to kill some time by discussing and contributing some ideas. Now I just hope that none of the developers pay any attention to the community.

This is the first game ive ever "kickstarted". I have faith that it will turn out great. If not, Im out $70 and Ive learned a valuable lesson. If it ends up being great, hopefully it sparks other titles people have been clamoring for.

That is kind of where I am at, though only $45 and I have kickstared a couple games already, some of which are done and came out really nice (like FTL). I think that I will probably back very few large projects in the future. They take way to long and there is often way to much drama, not to mention all the crazy fans.

Anniversary Sale Details

To celebrate our first year in operation, over the next week leading up to the 26th we will be offering each of the “limited edition” ships and packages once again for a limited time, so that anyone who would like to pick one up can do so. To give everyone a shot to catch the ship they’re interested in, we are going to announce the schedule in advance today. Ships and packages will be available for 24 hours (midnight to midnight PST.)

As a special thank you to everyone that has got us this far, including our growing contingent of New backers, Limited ships will include LTI for everyone! However they will only be available at the original prices for early backers (Original and Veteran) to keep in the spirit of our original promise to make sure that the earliest backers would have a benefit over later backers.

Sq. 42 will be a spiritual sequel to wc while SC will be similar to what CR intended Freelancer to be , though the mp part in Freelancer was never fully developed ...

if the gameplay mechanics on Sqd42 the same as Star Citizen and have any resemblances to the gameplay videos we've seen so far then we can be sure that the gameplay will look different enough than Wing Commander.

it's possibly more resembling I-War, some also suggest it will have similarity with the BSG Diaspora mod for Freespace 2 engine, speaking about that, I need to try that Diaspora mod.

Hell, we even know what their new and old offices look like. Do you know what the inside of Blizzard looks like? iD? Valve?

Heh I've only put in like $60 so i could watch a game develop. Everything else is gravy and I've already got more than $60 worth of entertainment from them.

To be honest, I see more game development from lord british's shroud of the avatar. The concept artist Steven Danielle does a live 1 hour concept drawing stream every week. Lum the Mad is his office mate so will pop in for a drink every once in a while. I know what some of the game world will look like already and have seen some of the game mechanics.

It's the $100 million and just a hangar that bugs me. People seem to think that more money means faster development or that it allows the use of the "Star Citizen" key which you just insert and turn to make a new game.

It'll be out in what, 2015? Chill till then and enjoy the ride.

Personally I wish we had less hype, less "we are going to do this and that" and more concrete results from the industry.

My ideal game development is like this: "We're going to make game X. 1 month before release 'Here is our game, we're going to release it in 30 days'" without the bullshit 2 years-before-release-****-hype that every game seems to go through now.

Games like this are being paid for with hype, so it is kind of hard to blame the developers for keeping it up.

Personally, I like the opportunity to get to see how the pudding gets made. Not so much into all the little announcements about different ships etc, but all that is being done to serve the demand of people dropping some serious coin, so whatever.

True but this game got a gazillion trillion bucks through kickstarter and the only thing they have shown us after that are spammy tellsell commercials asking us for more money....this game truly annoys me.

They will, when the dogfighting module is released in about 3 weeks, if not delayed for some reason. It seems it's going somewhat slower than anticipated, as the first release of it will only be against ai ships ... though, CR have said it will be released this year, no matter what

Personally I think this attitude of continually seeking more and more money on this project is downright disrespectful, and creepy imo. So he doesn't have enough already to complete this project? I mean its not like the money is on loan. I don't get this whole project, or the people that are so die-hard supportive of it no matter what

Seems like a really convenient excuse to have an unabated development cycle. Hell GTA V is the most expensive game ever, and it only cost rockstar $115 million (not counting marketing). But he doesn't have any of my money, and people are free to distribute theirs as they like. Personally I think its setting a very dangerous precedent. I've yet to see anything substantial come from kickstarter.
