This game is not a savior of games stop saying that its important. Its not anymore important than any other game.
And stop using other games timelines as a benchmark for SC. If you really want to use other games development timelines like GTAV or something it wouldnt be good for SC. A well oiled machine and veteran AAA company took 5 years to make GTAV you might as well triple the time for SC if they want to do anything near as great as GTAV is. Its pretty clear the team under CR is nowhere near experienced, possibly talented, and most importantly definitely nowhere as organized as the R* team that did GTAV.
People are going to get something at some point but the game is not going to be anywhere near what its supposed to be thats... a pipe dream.
If I was CR though Id definitely be sitting pretty in my mansion with charted private jets though. The man knows how to get money to line his pockets.
Saying they are ambitious games like we have never seen before is not saying it is the savior of games. That is a hyperbolic statement from you.
Also GTAV has been a game that was built upon from stuff they used in all the previous games. Also GTA5 wasn't ambitious nor innovative, it was also nothing new, it taking them 5 years with 1000+ people to do that game actually seems like it took to long considering it is built upon previous work.
IF anything Rockstar proves what I am saying. Anything less than 7 years is not a reasonable expectation for these games.
heck, we can go with your guys "savior", Derek Smart, where it takes 15 years for him to release a game.

There are almost 2 years since I forced myself to forget about StarCitizen, for my own sake, realizing that any date given for something is just bogus. But all this time I have hoped that when I...
people have begun to wake up from the matrix
I guess it's the trend nowdays with games; either you are a hardcore PC GAME, or you live long enough to see yourself become a console port

Its not anymore ambitious than any other game before it that has been in uncharted territory. There will always be games that push the boundaries and SC is not the first nor will it be the best or last to do it. Its just another game.
What in GTAV was taken from previous games(other than the engine obviously)? Dont tell me mission structure cause if we are doing that SC doesnt offer anything innovative or new in that sense. SC didnt even create their own engine they are just re-purposing another engine(and probably the worst choice for their type of game)
Also it took 5 years to make GTAV not 7.
And here you go again bringing in DS when nobody even mentioned him.

137 million. Marketing cost is not part of production cost. It was obviously developed for consoles cause thats where they consider the money to be. Even if it is a console port I guarantee its release version is less buggy and easier to run compared to SCs release version(whenever it hits) which is built for PCs only ATM.
So the livestream of the first day of gamescom was apparently not great. Lots of bugs, crashes, etc. The version they were showing is apparently 3.0 lite and they turned off damage all together (to stop griefing)
to say what they are showing is 3.0 lite is an insult to intelligence... that is not 3.0 lite, far from it... so not only they reduced the scope of what they are desperately trying to release compared to the last year gamescom plan, but now they had to reduce it even further to the point that it is now a simple a cheap imitation of battlefield the game with just single map, much less players count and not actual gameplay mode.
I guess it's the trend nowdays with games; either you are a hardcore PC GAME, or you live long enough to see yourself become a console port
I think walling off all the broken stuff and/or mission spoilers is not equivalent to further reducing the scope of 3.0
If it was ready, they would be releasing it instead of showing a floor demo. At the same time, they had to at least show something. The compromise, for better or worse, was to show this.
Not saying it isn't frustrating or disappointing that 3.0 is taking this long.
Croberts' gamescom presentation is over. He showed some capital ships fighting each other. Also talked a lot about a new faceware tech that basically copies your facial movements with VOIP. It's like an advanced version of the thing in half-life 1. Also does basic headtracking, you can buy a special branded camera for it.
They had to restart the demo because one of the clients crashed (57mins). Took about 7 minutes to reload it all again.

Also watch 1:07 for when he spends 15secs trying to interact with the NPC
But hopefully they don't make it so complex to "lift"... going to drive people insane.
Based on some of their bug hunting videos, my guess is that the issue is the transition into the ship's local physics grid, when the rover is trying to enter the ship.
Yeah! Faceware Technologies (the company behind the tech) has been working on realtime face tracking for about 7 years or so. And Star Citizen just became the first game to implement it? That is impressive

They should be working on other things before implementing something like that. It's cool yeah but largely useless and definitely shouldn't have been added now.

but the big black guy with a female voice was hilarious
and will drive me nuts in the game
can't wait to see woman running around sounding like Mr. T
but the head tracking is nice

Sure, but this was pretty well done. Sound processing in games has been mediocre at best in many games, at least they did some pretty effective processing on this and that I appreciate. I didn't expect you might have to yell for someone for them to hear you (distance), or the HRTF-like positioning working so well. Or the compression artifacts (waveform) in helmet mode. This has been in development for some time now, probably, alongside Spectrum.

How about you watch the presentation yourself and make up your own mind instead of listening to Derek Smart says?

Do you seriously want to believe someone who thinks the failing of his own games was because of Chris Roberts? Who said before the CIG presentation he has all kind of stuff to reveal from his trusted sources, but won't reveal it till just before the presentation because in the past CIG has thwarted his efforts in informing backers by making sure stuff he said didn't come true even though it was true before the changed it because him and his trusted sources, only for him to back out of it and say he isn't going to write anything up till after the presentation? He all of sudden had nothing to reveal from his trusted sources when it was revealed that one of this trusted sources was a person trolling him all along and apparently what he had to reveal from his trust source was from this troll in the first place.
So seriously, watch the presentation yourself and make up your own mind and don't pay attention to Derek Smart who has zero credibility in the first place.

Don't take the word of a person that is extremely biased against this game and has been hating on Chris Roberts for decades because he believes Chris Roberts and other space sim developers are the reason why his own games have failed.
make up your own mind after watching the stuff on your own.
