not had a chance to play ED enough and SC not at all
but not liking the yaw and roll rate in ED so far, not what i'm used to in a space sim i'm constantly screaming turn damn you
from the videos it looks like SC is better in this department so far
But as I mentioned in the other thread, you are in the newbie ship, In SC you can just buy with real cash the best ships so comparison is skewed.
Also you have to keep a eye on the perfect throttle range, and put extra power to engines (via energy distribution, not throttle) if you want a 1000 credit newbie ship to be able to turn half decent.

Really? Most chats are fanboys trying to see how much more of CR's dick they can deep throat than the other guy? I just see a giant circle jerk over SC.
VERY sad... And incredibly creepy.

Yeah, that looked good. Problem is you won't be playing until 2017, and the planetary landing stuff will probably not come out until 2020.
I had faith in the beginning, but they've just over promised so much it's hard to take them seriously anymore.
Edit:
Let's not forget the prices of these new ships. $200 for the "starter" model and $400 for the deluxe. Fking retarded. Just milking the fools for all they're worth.

You can get the ships without spending real money.
You're assuming it's going to be easy to make enough money to afford ships, while I'm going with the assumption that they want you to spend real cash instead and thus will make it either extremely hard or extremely time consuming.
There is NO justification anyone can give for spending that kind of money on a virtual item. I don't even care if you're rich. It's STUPID beyond all belief.
Think about how many games, good games, let you basically buy everything with cash. If it doesn't worry you then I worry about you.

I worry about your face!
Once the game goes live you wont be able to spend real cash on any ships (which is what they've said in the past).
Don't get me wrong I'm skepticle about starshitizen as much as the next guy, but let's at least have some form of hope.

So buy those ships now otherwise you'll be playing until 2025 to afford anything other than a space pinto!
I don't like to hope. I take what I see and base my opinions off that. Right now I say it's going to be a shiny turd. For your sake, I HOPE I'm wrong

You are, how many shiny turds has CR made?? You tell me!
I don't care about reputation. Everyone can fail, he's not God. If you want to see a turd, look at the Wing Commander movie
If it's great, awesome. He'll have pulled off a feat never before seen in gaming. Many other devs have promised the world, and the "previews" were amazing (think Spore, Doom3). The final product however.... Meh.

actually it will still be possible but not directly, you will be able to buy in game credits with real money they said; their justification was to make players who aren't playing the mmo for 24/7 able to 'compete' against those who do.
I guess it's the trend nowdays with games; either you are a hardcore PC GAME, or you live long enough to see yourself become a console port

Heyyy good man, I'd hope you do your homework!
But really his games have been awesome mostly throughout his dev career, but yeah, he's not perfect, but I think he's got something really great on his hands.
I think it will surprise a lot of people/industry heads that were negative!
Honestly dude, I hope he does. The more space games I can play in VR the better. It's just that the amount of promises he's made this round is insane. Maybe he can do it, but I'm going to be skeptical until the finished product is out. It's just my nature.

There was a chunk of time I almost gave into the hate, because, like you said, lots of promises and nothing to show for it. Now, though, I see a lot more things coming on the horizon, and his ideas coming to life. I think my love has been renewed!
It's not hate... I HATE when people misuse that word (not liking something isn't "hating" it), as it demeans it, makes it commonplace.... sorry, got off topic. Anyhoo, like I was saying, I don't not like CR, or SC for that matter. I just don't see it as fulfilling all the promises made. That's all

What game? It's a bunch of ships with no gameplay.
Member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race-"Doesn't any game maker know how to make a PC feeling game anymore? I hate all this console afterbirth crap we're getting lately."
Also some new ship racing tracks and co-op via friends codes in multiplayer dogfighting and against AI (until they sort out a nicer method) and a 15GB patch yesterday and another 1.6GB patch today.
Should be multi-crew based ship gameplay by Xmas (already been previewed a little bit a few weeks ago) and FPS combat not long after (will be a preview of that at PAX Australia end of Oct)
So is it worth picking up a ship and trying yet? How much is there really to do at this stage?
Only if you are really into the game and want to be part of the process. The gameplay is still relatively rudimentary. RSI isn't even calling it "alpha". They call it "pre-alpha". However, if you want to keep an eye on how things are going and get a taste of what the game will be like, then it is worth picking up. Just don't expect a lot at this point.
I've decided that, at least initially, my goal is going to be to ram to death every ship I see. Because, that'll be awesome.
I want a capital ship, for MAXIMUM IMPALEMENT!
Supposedly they will be introducing features to deter ramming. One possibility is doing it through the insurance system, so if you are ramming stuff all the time, they will bump up your premium or it will take longer to get reimbursed.
Which adds to the hilarity cause I can only afford little ships like the Aurora.
So, basically, I'm going to be aiming for the bridge of every capitol ship I see. Probably wont make it through the shields, meaning I'll be little more than a bug splatter on their windshields.

That sounds like a shitty little troll tactic to **** over other players.
You're super cool bro.

So, by me impaling my humble little Aurora into the shields of some mega-capital ship, I'm hurting other players... how? Their shields might drop some as my Aurora 'asplodes, but other than that they'll be none the wiser.
EDIT: Meh, not in the mood to keep this up. Nunz, I'm being sarcastic. This thread is more riddled with hatred towards CR than actual discussion of the game. So I'm just tossing in my own non-relevant posts to this dung heap.
I'm going to explore more than anything, and try to make my riches without crapping on other players. Why? Cause I'll likely be playing as close to SP as I can. Not a huge MP fan.
