Personally, I have been waiting for another patch. There are some issues with the joystick control configuration that bug me.THG is to computer hardware what MTV is to music.

48 million is not that much really when it comes to making these games
watch dogs cost what to make ?
Watch Dogs' Shipped Over 8 Million UnitsThe sales boost for the first-quarter of the 2014-15 fiscal-year is remarkable, clocking in at €360 million, up 374 percent compared with the €76 million recorded for first-quarter fiscal-year 2013-14
costs
looks like 68 million for watch dogs
Star Wars: The Old Republic = $200 million
Defiance = $70 million

It is a lot when you cut out publishers / etc., which makes up the bulk of a games budget. Its been said that the amount they have is equal to a $100+ million dollar game if it were funded / developed the "normal" way.
I laughed my ass of when I saw they hit 48m and released artwork. Maybe they finally realized "hey, we should probably concentrate on finishing what we've already promised instead of promising even more sh*t which won't get released until long after most of our backers are dead"Originally posted by OzzieblokeI mean, yeah, sure, there's benefits to a shaved asshole. $48 million... what are they going to do- just pack up and go home? They've the funding, they are working on this game. Probably not afraid to re-do certain things they aren't pleased with, and move a bit slower on the development front with the intention of a more polished final product.
That is all my opinion, and if true it doesn't bother me. I've only pledged $30, so not much of a loss if it turns out to be a well polished turd. However, if it turns out to be a fantastic game then it was one heck of a good deal @ $30.Originally posted by Akumajoa prime time magnifying glass of clusterfark shatstorm brewery.Originally posted by wabbitslayercongratulations on the anniversary of your emancipation from the Great Uterine Squeeze.Originally posted by swinglineThere are two types of people in the world: those that are humble and those that will be.

well I gave them 60 bucks at the start and that's it so far if it comes out this year great but most likely next year the way they are going
but these people spend money like water my sister was a costume cutter fitter in Hollywood for years, worked on ST:TNG, DS9 & Voyager & superman elc.
and it was nothing to spend 200k on 1 costume for something like superman

and it was nothing to spend 200k on 1 costume) then I'll likely just start pouring money into my Aurora. Even fully upgraded it'll likely be under powered in all areas compared to some of the other ships, however I like a challenge. I like to start small, humble beginnings, and then work up. I don't even know if this is possible, but if development really starts to pick up in a direction I like then maybe I'll purchase multiple Auroras and upgrade each for specific tasks. One outfitted for more combat-type missions, another strictly to haul cargo, and maybe another more geared for long-distance space exploration. It's been a while since I perused the ships available, so maybe there's one that'd be best as an "all-around" type ship that I could purchase after I've fully upgraded my Aurora.
I'm content to wait for now though. I'll give them another 6 months and see where they're at. I've yet to download the DFM. Last time I played around with the game it was just the hangar. Maybe this week I'll DL it sometime and take my Aurora for a spin.
As you can tell, I don't follow this game uber closely... mostly just skim through the e-mails they send.Originally posted by Akumajoa prime time magnifying glass of clusterfark shatstorm brewery.Originally posted by wabbitslayercongratulations on the anniversary of your emancipation from the Great Uterine Squeeze.Originally posted by swinglineThere are two types of people in the world: those that are humble and those that will be.

That is why many 3rd party developers are turning to Kickstarter, so they can get funding for their game without doing contract work or selling their rights to a publisher just to make the game they want to make but in the end losing control/ownership."The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits." -- Albert Einstein

Was at my friend's place last week and got to play a wider variety of ships than just my humble Aurora.
I really like how different the HUD design and voice are for the different manufactures.
So far, compared to Hornet, the 300i seems like it is a superior ship for Arena commander. It is just so much more maneuverable. Hornet feels like it is designed to go up against heavier ships.
BTW, almost every time I see one of the new ships in the store, I am on the edge of just buying it. Makes me feel like a moron, but they are just so shiny. Need to stay strong.THG is to computer hardware what MTV is to music.

Ofcourse I like to be proven wrong, there's more than enough room in my heart for more than one space sim.
The size of the Arena feels a little cramped at times. I imagine that is done partly on purpose, to keep players from just running away, and partly an engine limitation.
I am currently withholding any overall judgement until the game is further along. There is enough room in my heart for another game, but not enough in my schedule. I have been tempted to try Elite Dangerous, but have just not had the time. TBH, I have only bothered to play Arena Commander a few times.THG is to computer hardware what MTV is to music.

posting this here because to be honest I'm starting to think that maybe I backed the wrong game first... maybe I should've backed ED first but the alpha and beta price is just out of my taste.

Also it will be very interesting how SC will do interplanetary flight etc, it's going to be pre baked maps, rather than actual procedural stuff.
Which looks prettier in practice but lacking in freedom. Going by what I've seen from having experience with the engine and space aims, and what they've made so far.
Things can change, hopefully they do.Fantards the scourge of the universe:
