Limit theory is probably much smaller in scope (I say probably cause I'm pretty much in the dark what exactly Chris Roberts is doing) but Josh is an absolute example how to correspond with fans while maintaining focus and sticking to your own ideas. Heck the guy could write a book about developing a game and make it as exciting as the next Dan Brown novel.

It's just that Chris Roberts has a way of really getting under my skin by promising gold and when he can't show any gold he promises even more gold. I find it kind of funny how procedural generated content gets a major press release from CR where it is the next big thing, while it is an implemented core feature from day one with Limit Theory. Again on a much smaller scale, Josh simply said hey you know what I can and will do procedural generated planets but I'm not going to allow you to actually walk around on them because that will take way to much time and effort at this moment. CR promises planets on a much bigger scale with much more interaction. Then again, one is already implemented and the other only exists in dreams at this stage.

I want videos like that from CR for SC. Show me the behind-the-scenes details of what you've been working on. Show me ships flying in space, show me planets you've worked on, show me space stations and the likes. I don't care if they aren't finished, I expect them to be a WIP, but it gives me something tangible (sort of) to be encouraged over and even more inclined to give them more money.

I don't frequent the SC forums, but maybe I should. I wonder how well such a suggestion would be received? That's one reason I haven't pledged anymore money is that I don't truly know what state this game is in. That video posted earlier in this thread where it actually did show some of the stuff they were working on (the asteroid mine, the level of detail put into the functionality of ships, etc) is a step in the right direction- but that one video is insufficient. I want more like that. Less round-table interviews, and more development footage.

I think the difference here is that i've invested peanuts while Cyko gave them the entire elephant. If I were in Cyko's position I'd likely be far more furious with them and likely would have request at least a partial refund (maybe downgrade to the minimal pledge) if not a full refund.

But I realised that before I pledged, which is why my pledge was minimal. I want to see real and real promising results before they get any more of my money.

also compare this to watch dog for example... they went from an awesome reveal 2 years ago into the current **** with 6 month delay even, compared to such AAA project from one of the biggest publisher-developer around, star citizen is currently progressing nicely... I mean who knows since when did they worked on watch dog from the beginning, 2011/2010?

I gave them the whole circus troop of elephants, lol. I did scale back though and only have a few ships left (super hornet, m50, and 350r), got a refund for the rest.

I recommend never visiting the SC forums...EVER. It's seriously a giant orgy of CR fans. Any skepticism or negativity is met with "BURN THE NAYSAYER ALIVE!!!!!!".

Well, I think you shouldn't get so frustrated and make hesitant moves like pulling all your stuff out. But it's up to you whatever you want to do, I think this will be a landmark game, in the universe of gaming now.

I just think people were let down (me included on some things) with the recent activities. The stupid "next great spaceship" is the most boring thing I've ever seen. Why can't they get to the point instead of having some round table sleeper discussion about EVERYTHING. Geez louis...

Anyhow, I still think this game will be very good, we don't know what it will even look like yet. Sure there's pics but they are all not actually what the game will look/play like. Once we get the alpha, I will see what things will be like more critically. Even the DFM, it's not gonna change my taste of what I think is possible with this game.

We will see though, I just wish they would of been more honest about what's going on real-time. For example; "Hey guys, were putting together teams of game creators/contractors to really push the content creation forward. So please bare with us during this downtime!!"

OMG Look at that, HONEST TRUTH, I would of gladly waited as they put together their teams to make this truly the best "space sim" ever made. I think that's really the only thing missing to make this process sink in better.

Im not a backer but I saw a few of the round table interviews... pretty boring indeed. Its probably a lot easier for them to sit at a table and talk then to actually put up some gameplay or WIP stuff if they even have some. You know with 39 mill you think they could hire a video production guy to handle all that stuff and make it interesting.

If they prove me wrong I can always re-buy the ships later as I'm sure they will put them back up for sale at some point in the future. I just didn't want to miss the opportunity for a refund, as they may stop giving them at some point. The DFM, while not deal breaking for you, will be for very many people. If it is less than stellar you can bet my sweet ass ( ) the critics and backers alike will have a field day and CR's reputation will take a large hit.

The criticism has always been scope creep and that they won't finish half the sh*t they've promised. Baiting backers with trivial garbage? Where did I ever say that? Unfortunately those will take an additional 7.5 million years to design, and design work won't start until after the towels are finished. That is unless the $200 million dollar goal is unlocked, then they will be able to hire an additional team to do design work in parallel

In their defense, this is a "put up or shut up moment" for them. If it comes out and isn't perfect, fans will trash him and the whole thing probably collapses. I don't think there's room for alpha-quality work here, and even beta would be risky.

It may be an unoptimized pre alpha Dev build but it's still the first piece of actual gameplay that the world will get its hands on and it has been delayed to hell and back so yes, it better not run too horribly or there will be some major backlash.
