Convenient Microtransaction paradise ahoy!

CR should just stop releasing any info at all until he has something ready, because it seems every time he or someone on his team opens their mouth they end up shooting themselves in the foot. My faith in the project dies a little every time they release an update.

    Edit:
At least Elite: Dangerous is coming along nicely. Should be able to play that beta early next year.
:sigh: sorry, I didn't have 2 spare hours to burn during the middle of my work day to watch a livecast.

..and the point of that GIF is..?

Livecasts and whatnot; wery interesting move, non-corporate way of doing things which I really like. But some assets may be earlier done than others (models and textures for instance), which could be why we are seing lots of ships and little details as the engine is being worked on.

For me, interest shifted right over to Elite once I saw the trailer a few weeks ago. SC/S42 so so huge now, it's scaring me. I was about to make a purchase, but not when I'm seing delays like this At least Elite gave us some real ingame inflight videos

Sometimes CR reminds me of a politician. He continually is trying to sell points about something he has nothing to back it up with. People are trusting him solely on his past credentials, which are like 20 years old

Your just jelly that people won't trust you with millions of dollars.

FYI, he has done other things over the last 20 years. Wikipedia lists some examples.

Skimmed through the last live stream. I did see some real in game in flight video in it. Needs work but...

I feel stupid Seriously, I don't understand the GIF I'd love to see the livecast, which video is it? I found the "Inside CIG: dogfighting update", but I can't find the live cast (yes, I feel stupid ).

You have to read the quote if you dont understand after that than I cannot help you.

As far as this game.. Ive never seen so many people suckered for micro macro transactions before a game even gets released. You would think people would hold off on supporting macro transactions because thats where the industry is heading... this just confirms there are enough suckers out there to make it standard.

Game companies are going to look at this and see its success and start doing it themselves. Expect the next star wars to have ships cut out.

Actually I'm just confused as to why so many people seem to trust him with their money? However I will admit that he did make a memorable game which people still want to play today, some 15+ years later. Besides maybe I'm jelly because I'm afraid I'll be dead before the game is finished

Wing Commander I, Privateer, Wing Commander III and IV. All of them pushed the envelope of what could be done with a limited hardware budget, and that's why everyone who enjoyed those games jumped on board.

We all want to see a Wing Commander 42, and if anyone can do it, this team can. Since all these guys made those great games in the first place.

Or they spent $23 million on whiskey and BBQ.

Cyko replied to a post of mine by accusing me of being too lazy to watch the podcast (or some similar implication). My reply was that I didn't have time to watch the Live case because I am not an unemployed vagabond with too much time on my hands, thus intimating that perhaps Cyko is. "Oh Snap" is a colloquialism that a third party might say after witnessing such a witty retort.

BTW, my post to which Cyko originally replied was made before the livecast. So even if I had been an umployed vagabond, I would have also required a time machine to have already watched the livecast.

He also ran a couple production companies for a while. That might explain why he is so good at getting people to give him money. It also hopefully means that he knows how to manage large amounts of money.

Very cool of you, thanks! There's those two hours + I was looking for!

Gonna fire this up on the projector in a few hours and enjoy the show Gotta love a big huge projector image for things like this (E3, presentations, sports etc).

EDIT: That was surprisingly good, seeing the turret view again almost brought a tear to my eyes. For now, looks like a very modern Wing Commander for sure.

I'd go so far as to say that Wing Commander 2 capitalized on the branching story tree that gets decided by mission outcomes, giving you the illusion of free will while dictating a predetermined ending anyway. For me, soap opera like character investment - game as dramatic story - did not exist in games before Wing Commander.

Wing Commander was certainly an influence on the serialized franchise narratives in Call of Duty, Mass Effect, et al

I'm not really unemployed, lol. I'm the CISO at a major specialty company. For aviphysics, lets put money aside then. I've been a paramedic, a firefighter, a member of the armed forces, have a beautiful wife, have been to some of the most beautiful places on earth and have every "toy" a geek could dream of. So if you want a measure of "life success" there you go.

Does Batman actually earn money that can be talked about in terms of monthly vs weekly incomes?

I mean, Bruce is a Trust Funder, so income isn't even discussed, it would be beneath him, but Batman, he doesn't get paid for doing what he does. It's pro-bono work.

Then again, he can probably sell the loot from all of his kills, but again, this isn't steady work. This is like working contract jobs...sometimes you work, sometimes you eat ramen. So you aren't talking about weekly incomes, you are talking about job incomes, $xx,xxx for 6 months work.

                                                      Or something.

I only have a 300i, so I don't get to see any cool stuff that gets added, beyond the basics.

Main thing that bothered me was that the first person view kept doing the exact same jostling motion at relatively regular intervals. I assume that will be fixed at some point.
