I still prefer CryEngine 2 powering original Crysis. Although there is a lot of updates on CryEngine 3 for Crysis 3, it still tailored towards consoles, which I bet if they tweak the CryEngine 2 just as much it will look better.

I'm not a modder by any sense but what I really enjoy is attention to little details in the game world, and it looks like there's a lot of that going on in this video. Really looking foreward to Crysis 3 now, and I'm quite positive I'll have to have me some new video cards to play this once it comes out.

A lot depends on how things go for me but I'm entertaining the fantasy of dual GTX 770s or 88/8970s, whichever side offers me the most for my dollar. Wonder how it'll play on such a setup. Curious if my CPU would be a major bottleneck and whether I may actually need to OC it.

Watch that video a few posts up... you expect half of that to be present in the console versions? Even if it isn't present in the PC version it will be available to the modders. This could easily push three 680s I'd imagine.

The title out of the box won't push two 680's. it's the same engine just with some added features.... And of course a bow.

Things like Transparency AA will bring it to it knees. Crysis 2 can kill my system once I enable 8xSGSSAA, anything below and it's great. Seeing as how they brought back the jungle aspect of Crysis 1 I may have to run at 2xSGSSAA. But I doubt it.

But then again it is Crytek we are talking about.

In the Crysis 3 Beta, you’ll be able to suit up, team up with your friends, level up to rank 10, and customize your Nanosuit with different weapons, attachments and suit modules.



BETA MULTIPLAYER MODES

Hunter Mode:

This multiplayer game mode is all about the survival of the fittest. There are two teams, initially comprised of two permanently cloaked “Hunters”, and up to fourteen CELL troopers awaiting extraction. Each trooper slain respawns on the Hunter team to prey on their former allies, building to a frenetic climax. If any of the troopers survive the round, the hunters lose. Whichever way you play, Hunter Mode delivers a heart-pounding test of strategy and survival.

Crash Site Mode:

This multiplayer game mode is the ultimate King of the Hill type experience. An Alien dropship deploys a pod at random around the map. Players on each team must remain near the dropped pod in order to capture the zone and accumulate points. Each alien pod holds two shields players can utilize defensively as weapons. In addition, each Crash Site map will have a “Pinger”, a CEPH-constructed walking weapon of mass destruction. But be careful, other players can hijack the Pinger while you’re inside of it!

Museum:

Roam the dark ruins of the museum that's located in downtown Manhattan, and use the verticality to your advantage.


Airport:

Close to the financial district, nature has taken over buildings and planes in this open fields area.

You called CryEngine 3 a console engine. Those features discussed in that video will likely be seen on the PC only. And it is fully possible that they'll be available in the retail game "out of the box". I'm hoping Crytek learned their lesson from Crysis 2- I'm referring to the "High-Definition textures" and "Tessellation" patches, those should have been in the game from the get-go. I'm assuming they aren't planning on making the same mistake with Crysis 3.

Could be wrong here, but I'm optimistic. And if all of the features of the engine shown in that video, plus all the others not covered in that video, are present in the game at launch, I can fully see this being taxing on tri-SLi 680s. Maybe not at 1440p or lower, but for sure at 1600p and for absolutely certain on any three-monitor setup.

Also, I hope they add proper SSAA (OGSSAA and/or SGSSAA) support this time.
In Crysis 2, SGSSAA only worked in DX9 (at least for Nvidia cards).

People seem to think that slapping on a few DX11 tessellation bells and whistles make it a "PC version". What about the map design, the multiplayer element, the GUI etc? Everything is designed for consoles, then they might alter the multiplayer client count for the PC and thats it. There is your "PC version", which at most, consists of slightly higher res textures, mouse and keyboard controls and a config file change to allow 32 players instead of the console 24...

These days there are only 2 settings. Adjust resolution (only 16:9 support, sorry you 16:10 pigs) and adjust brightness because we made the default too low to hide the bad textures.

Any attempt by a developer to distinguish console from pc should be respected imo, even if considered slight. The developers we should be angry towards is anyone that has the balls to publicly announce a straight port from console to pc (cough, cough, Visceral Games). I would be perfectly fine with them releasing on console only. My humble opinion of course.

As PC gamers we are the minority. If you expect developers to take extra time on our platform then get used to being disappointed. You may find more joy in life by finding a different hobby.

I'm happy with what they had there. I'd welcome more settings, yes, but I'm not going to complain either. Granted I'm from the crowd that games for the sake of actually playing the game. Don't get into this whole idea of tweaking every possible cvar imaginable to find the best possible look for the game, then later complain about having never finished said game because of some lame stupid reason, even though by the time the tweaking is all done and the preferred settings set up the game is already over half a year old when I do attempt to play it.

Pretty much this. Then again sometimes a straight port works. I'm pretty sure DS and DS2 where straight ports and that worked great for those games. So why change it up in DS3?
