I JUST finished playing Crysis for my 4th time (well, not quite "finished", as I usually uninstall the game before I get to the ridiculous ending with the big thing sitting in front of you waiting to be shot at), am currently playing Warhead for the first time (airfield level) and liking it a lot, but most of all I'm having multiple orgasms in my 2.0 Nanosuit since I just started Crysis2 and I'm blasted by graphics and the overall feel of gameplay. You can call me easy to please, but now I'm sort of getting excited about Crysis3, and this comes from somebody who started the series only last year!
No question is dumb if you do not know the answer.

"As Crytek’s first multi-platform game, Crysis 2 on the PC wasn’t all that it could have been. I’m not just talking about graphics options or eye candy – even the gameplay itself had many of its finer nuances tuned out to create a more accessible experience for the console crowd. Enemy AI was only capable of two alert states versus the three in the original, and most areas of the game had a singular path between beginning and end.
While it proved to be a hit with controller crowd, PC gamers weren’t too impressed. During my recent hands-on with Crysis 3, the developer went to great lengths to emphasise that Crytek had learned its lesson, and that yes, Crysis 3 will once again feel like a true PC experience. I spent 30 rather enjoyable minutes discovering whether or not these claims were true."
Having said that... Real-time uncanny valley on Psycho's face reached!

I liked the previews. But still an opportunity missed. I still prefer them to do what happen when Prophet re-enter the sphere in first Crysis instead of continuing the second one. I don't even mind if they use CryEngine 2.

I only played Crysis briefly a bfe years ago, but I'm about 6 hours into Crysis 2 (nearly finished?) and I'm loving it. I actually started it a few times but kept losing interest. The game really picks up when you start fighting more of the alien-squids, imo. The later environments seem much nicer to look at too. Overall, a fantastic shooter, and I can't wait for Crysis 3 now.

Hey pal, I'm in your same boat, 6 hours into Crysis 2 and having a blast. What level are you at? Loving the Nanosuit interface, the stomping when in armor mode gives me a hard-on
Three games behind me and I still haven't finished any of them . How do the games run on today's hardware?
Lol, you will play them on max settings no problems.

Oh damn so many fps drops in that gameplay part 2 footage. I wonder if they were recording it with something like fraps that was causing it or if crysis 2 is going to destroy every 2x gtx690s.

Crysis runs like **** on my machine. There is the 24Hz bug, and slowdowns associated with forcing to 60Hz. Guess its time to upgrade to a 120Hz monitor?
afaik the 6000 series has better tesselation performance, because I'm running Crysis 2 fully maxed, DX11 + high res textures at 1080p with no hitch whatsoever. I'm actually even surprised at how well it runs. Here's hoping Crysis 3 won't bring too much of an increase in sys requirements (talking about REAL requirements, not the recommended ones ).

The 24hz bug is easy to fix. Just create the res 1920x1079 in the control panel and choose that res in game and bam! 60hz

Yeah they definitely improved the tessellation performance with the HD6000 series. Doesn't help me much.
I'm eyeing the HD8000 series and GTX7xx series, if they don't live up to my performance expectations I may see if I can pickup a used 7900 or two for cheap.
EDIT: Just watched that Part 2 video... holy crap! I'm pretty much certain I'll have to upgrade.

On Eyefinity resolution HD6000 struggles but HD7000 shines with "double" the performance !
Already pre-ordered Crysis 3 Hunter Edition on Origin, hope it is good

Yeah, Crysis 2 and it's wasteful tessellation (looking at a staircase should not bring me down to 5FPS even with AMD's inferior tessellation performance, Crytek...) brings my 6970 to its knees in spots unless I set the tessellation factor limit to 16x in the CCC. I'm hoping their tessellation implementation is a little less retarded in 3, but I'm not holding my breath.

yeah, if I run 5980x1080 on my tri-monitor setup, even with two 6950's performance is way to iffy for me. I much prefer to put the two side screens asleep and enjoy max details and great performance all-across.
I'm tempted to pre-order this one at the $45 price mark at green man gaming.
I would recommend to wait for a proper sale on this one and so is the case for most EA titles. Added, $45 is better spent on Bioshock Infinite, ofc IMO.

It may be worth doing if you're really excited for this one and plan to play it upon release.
If its no big deal to you and you've got plenty of other games in the backlog to play I'd hold out. That's where I am with this one. I still haven't even played Crysis 2 yet (only just got it).

Yea I would like to have it, but as you say I have so many games on the backlog that it probably doesn't make sense to get it when I got everything in the series to this point for all of $17.49.
Is Crysis 3 going to push visual boundaries and our hardware just like they did back in 2007?
Sure it will:
