Imo, crysis 2 did enough things differently to escape from the "generic console fps" category.

The gameplay is nothing like Cod, and that is the definition of a generic console fps.

Crysis 3 seems to have gone the same route as Crysis 2 and this is a big enough reason for me not to bother with the 3rd installment. Had it gone back to its roots with a real jungle, nice beaches, open world roaming and a PC exclusive that meant full attention to todays tech on PC then i would have a different opinion. TBH im more looking forward to Cryteks F2P shooter (warface) than i ever was to another crysis sequel.
Anyway, thats just my opinion, take it or leave it !

Maybe I should replay it.. never even finished it.

Thoroughly looking forward to this game!
My dual 5870s struggle with Crysis 2 maxed, wondering how they'll cope with Crysis 3? Visual improvements don't appear to be monumental by any stretch, but I am expecting them to be somewhat improved. Maybe need to start scouring for some cheap used 7970s.Originally posted by Akumajoa prime time magnifying glass of clusterfark shatstorm brewery.Originally posted by wabbitslayercongratulations on the anniversary of your emancipation from the Great Uterine Squeeze.Originally posted by swinglineThere are two types of people in the world: those that are humble and those that will be.

Crysis 2 was pretty damn good. Even with the short storyline I thought the game had sufficient Crysis elements. Upgrades to the suit were nice and the gameplay was solid throughout with the new elements adding to the bad ass feel. Nothing wrong with a slightly linear version of the game at all. If they can bring some of the elements back from original Crysis then its good. I still don't like the bow and arrow but guess everyone is doing it so why not (Tomb Raider, Ass Creed 3). Either way, will bone on release.

I don't think so, and that is more or less why I don't think crysis 2 is a generic console fps.
How could it be?
99% of all console shooters are cod with different graphics.
How many of those generic console shooters let you stealth through a level whenever you feel like it?
Cod, no
Moh, no
GoW, no
Uncharted, no
Halo, noLast edited by Mangler; Jul 27, 2012, 03:23 AM.

Hell remember the demo that had "PUSH START or A or WHATEVER" to continue past the splash screen? LOL. Crytek wants to redeem themselves in the eyes of PC Gamers, design Crysis 4 ( which won't happen as this is the end of the Crysis Trilogy ) from the ground up for PC, no console version, well maybe for the next gen console.Intel Core i9 10900K @ 5.2GHz, Asus Maximus XII Apex, GSkill Trident-Z Royal DDR4 3200MHz 32GB CAS11, Asus Strix 3080Ti OC, Creative Labs SXFI Theater, Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB, Corsair AXI 1500i PSU, ThermalTake View 71, Corsair K95 Platinum RGB, Corsair Dark Core RGB SE, Acer Predator X34, Windows 10 Professional X64

I didnt think warhead was better than crysis 1. It was better than crysis 2 though!
The relic level was awesome in crysis 1ASUS PG279Q | ASUS Strix GTX 1080 Ti OC 2025MHz/12.2GHz | Intel i7 3770K 4.7GHz [Noctua NH-U12P SE2] | 2x8GB G.Skill TridentX DDR3-2400 10-12-12-31-1T | Fractal Design R4 | Be Quiet! I still haven't finished 2. I got to the part where you're up in a lab on top of a building or something, choppers drop bad guys off, you kill em and go out, overlooking some docks if I remember right.
Well, the rear most line of bad guys started lobbing 'nades at me, but couldn't reach - they were blowing up their own guys up front - and that was one of the better parts of the game
Haven't fired it up since - I want a lot of end user feedback telling me they fixed the horrendous AI before I'll even consider touching C3.

The only big negative thing I can say about Crytek is that they have some of the worst long-term support in the game industry. They just drop support for their products regardless of their state. They've had this practice since FarCry and it annoys the hell out of me.Originally posted by General LeeI've been praying for your nuts.Originally posted by General LeeIf you must listen to country [music], play it backwards. Per-rendered touched up video to go with the touched up screenshots.
