At least get the "demo" versions man. BF3, Crysis 3, and Mass Effect 3 shouldnt be missed.
Nah, I don't "demo" games. Another thing I am strictly against.
I'm actually not missing much. Other than Crysis 3, the only other Origin exclusive I am really interested in is ME3. Don't really give a squirt of piss for BF3 tbh. I gave up on online MP years ago.

ME3 and Crysis 3 not missing much? Yeah, but not really.
Eh, I always rubbed people the wrong way at this forum for some reason.
People's advice is always "you need to loosen up." Its just how I am, I tend to hold grudges and cannot let things go.
Don't worry about it, there does seem to be a particular aura with this part of the forum. It could be worse, at least you didn't ask them what the game(s) were like.
I was banned from P&R because I refer to it as an echo chamber.

This is considered trolling and a personal attack according to Curio. FYI in case you decide to step in there. I wonder if the definition of irony is known...

In the grand scheme, no its not much. To me anyways. I have plenty of great games in the backlog, as well as a job, family, and other things I love to do. Plus I'm sure they'll both eventually be available outside of Origin. No sweat off my balls.

There has to be invisible walls, but if you don't notice them its all right. Unlike in Rage for example.
Well I haven't found anywhere I couldn't move to because of an invisible barrier. The open maps seem enclosed with real walls and objects on all sides, like a MP map.

Meteor, you might want to give up on gaming altogether, because publishers don't need Uplay, Origin or Steam to track your ****
...and the DO track your ****
On a more serious note though, what exactly do you think they "steal" ?
They gather gameplay information and hardware specs, they don't sniff your passwords and sell your email address to spammers.
Ya, good thing you don't cast any auras in this forum.
Ha, go back to the bridge. I wear

Don't waste your time on this. He don't want to play with Origin...
So...nobody answered my question about the 1.1 patch. Or did they? Any way I can confirm that it's been applied? The UI still says 1.0.0.2000 and the version of the .EXE says 1.2.

Well for one, my privacy which is important to me.
Unless its been updated recently, Origin's EULA is worded in a way that allows it the permission to gather any information it wants from your computer, not just gameplay and system info. That's the problem people have with it. Thankfully they give the opt out option. But still, what does a game publisher need with information on non-game software and websites you use, other than to profit from it by selling to third parties for marketing purposes?
As a comparison, this is from Steam's EULA:
Steam will store information on a user’s hard drive that is used in conjunction with online play of Valve products. This includes a unique authorization key or CD-Key that is either entered by the user or downloaded automatically during product registration. This authorization key is used to identify a user as valid and allow access to Valve’s products. Information regarding Steam billing, your Steam account, your Internet connection and the Valve software installed on your computer are uploaded to the server in connection with your use of Steam and Valve software.
It specifically mentions how Steam's tracking is solely related to its products. That's the difference. From how its worded, its a pretty good bet that Origin's tracking activities are not limited to that. I'm not in such a hurry to use a service from a company that does this, but that is just me. I am not coercing anyone else here to not use it.
OK, I understand that, but...
First of all, you're on the Internet, and I think that no matter how hard you try your privacy is already forfeit.
Second of all, at least EA has the common decency to 1. Let you know and 2. Let you opt out. I'm not trying to defend them, just saying.
I'm quite sure that every single major software manufacturer or publisher who made something I have or had installed knows absolutely everything they want to know about me, as long as that information is useful to them in any way. What games I have, what OS I use, how I use it, how I play my games, how many games I pirate, my traffic, my websites, my facebook, etc. My email address, my IP, my country, city and district, and probably more.
Then Google knows where I live, where I work, what I talk about with my friends, my wife and my colleagues, where I spend holidays, how much I payed for them, where I buy my **** from, on what I spend my money generally, where I go to eat, drink, sleep or whatever, they probably even know stuff I haven't even considered.
Then I have my bank who basically knows everything there is to know about my finances.
Etc.Etc.Etc.
Considering all this I should worry that a money hungry publisher knows my IP, hardware config and what stuff I have installed ? I honestly couldn't care less. My whole life, identity, secrets, money, family and whatnot is already available for whoever is interested: software companies, Microsoft, Google, my bank, the god damn state.
So nah, I think I'll hold off my crusade against Origin for a while

Finished Crysis 3. What an amazing game. In game counter says 6 hours 6 minutes but Origin says I played for 11 hours. I know that 1 hour of that was MP so it was a 10 hour game for me. Great ending and post credits video was also cool. One of the best game I have played this year.

Not on any crusade. I didn't tell anyone they shouldn't use it. I just personally choose not to use Origin until they update their ToS to specifically say they only track users' Origin software related information.
Not even for fear of any personal info on my PC being used since, if we are to believe the opt out option completely and unequivocally removes that **** from Origin, it shouldn't be an issue anyway. But simply out of principle that I refuse to accept companies that do this on the internet.
I also try to follow this practice with anything else I consider putting on my PC, even though I'm sure some of the bastards slither their way through regardless. Of course I am not going to make any kind of difference in the matter, this is just how I choose to live online. Call me what you will.
I work for Ubi. I have pesonally tested the tracking system for a number of games. It's harmless. They track where you die, then make a heatmap and decide whether the level design was bad or not. If you pirated the game. If you beat it. That sort of thing.
That however is just Ubi , or in other words 0.1% of the entities which track you.

I call you "aware". That's really great imo. But at the same time, you're missing out on some good games (not only Crysis 3) and I think that the trade-off isn't really worth it.
