Runs pretty good on very high with AA 1x on single HD7970 along with 6 Core i7. This is where 6 core i7 shines . I am getting pretty good frame, smooth gameplay except for few areas where it drops little bit but again game runs so smooth that is not that noticable.

first level indeed runs horrible. 2nd level ran better, thats as far as i played so far. mouse lag from beta is present in the single player. graphics are indeed the best of any released game yet, but its clearly not cg quality as everyone is saying. gameplay/pacing/level design is fun, much better than crysis 2. but the mouse lag is seriously a downer. sound effects are awful, especially the gun sounds. after playing bf3 these guns just sound terrible. music is great tho. more thoughts to come as i play further

You can turn off mouse smoothing. There is a console command for it. Reduces the mouse lag significantly. Also go to options and increase mouse sensitivity from 25 to 35/40 and it will make the game very much normal.

Bring up the console with '~' and type 'i_mouse_smooth = 0'

If your sig is correct I would be more concerned with the CPU and ram.

What does "very high" do anyway ?
From what I've been able to gather it just tesselates EVERYTHING, and not much else.
Is that true ?

Higher quality ssao and the tessellation is the stuff that is the most noticeable.

I'm sure there is some other stuff that is more subtle but demanding as ****.

For what its worth, my TRI-SLI 680 Classified's are barely pushing 30FPS on Very High, That's with TXAA 4x though at 2560x1600.

Also, do all AA methods rape your performance, or is it just TXAA ?

fxaa and smaa 1x is free, smaa2/4 seems to have a 5-10fps hit.

Txaa=rape

Msaa has a big performance hit and barely has any effect on the aliasing.

And txaa 4x is more demanding than very high.

SLI scaling is poor as well, only abour 40% - 50% with dual, TRI my third GPU is barely being pushed, tried with both Vsync on and off with really no change.

I am actually not very impressed with the title at this point. Visually yes its very beautiful but I find some implementation to be rather poor, again Crytek and their stupidity with tesselation is retarded, they tessalate objects that require no tesselation, they just do it because they can and create massive performance hits because of it. I find water effects to be poor, the water moves in slow motion while everything else reacts in real time, it just makes the effect and the enviroment look weird. Enemy AI is ****ing retarded, I've had AI run straight at walls and keep running at that wall for no reason, had it happen this morning, so I dropped a train on three of them lol....

Will test more tonight when I get home from work, my rating though 5/10 so far.

I don't see a 480 in his sig so I would guess its not.

Any way though if I look at cpu load its like 12% 14% 24% 12% always highest on core 2 but I don't think I have seen it over 25% on any core so I don't think cpu will bottleneck many people.

still using one of the early 3d vision monitors here so stuck with 1680x1050 and with fxaa +3d as my aa method and every thing at the very high setting, the game seems to lock at 40 or 60fps depending on the area. Cut scenes however drop down to 20-30 with there added effects.
This is on 3 year old video cards so IMO the performance is great for what its doing. The area before you enter the dam is

I was also able to drop the settings down enough on the beta to get it to run smoothly for my daughters little brother on an e6750 and gtx460 @1080 both at stock clocks and the game still looked great.

EDIT: oh and screen shots don't even come close to doing this game justice. There are so many little things going on in a scene that don't really translate well to screen shots but when added all up and moving are pretty nuts.

It depends, if you thought that the previous parts in this series was just another boring tech demo, then yes, it another 3dmark game.

But if you liked crysis 2, then no, it is a proper game.

from what i can tell further lighting lod, better shadowing(odd), and higher quality AO. ive yet to see any visible tessellation so i have no idea if they are tessellating again with no actual visible improvement. but all the textures on high or very high are just bump mapped, pom, or flat

In some scenes, it will be hard to pick out the differences between high and vhigh, so if you got performance issues on vhigh, swallow your pride and play it on high.

Anyone playing (or trying to play) this on a midrange or lower end card?

Just wondering if I should even bother buying it. Laptop in sig is also my gaming rig. Does decent for the most part, but I don't want to spend money on a game that I have to run at low settings.
