Crysis 3 accidentally revealed by EA's Origin service

While the nanosuited protagonists of the Crysis series owe much of their success to the suit's ability to render them invisible until the precise moment they're ready to strike, publisher Electronic Arts doesn't share that same ability. The unannounced Crysis 3 was accidentally revealed on its own Origin website this morning.

As spotted by NeoGAF, and verified by a quick Google search for "crysis 3 limited edition download origin," EA's Origin download service featured the game on both Xbox 360 and PC; it's unclear if there will be a PS3 version. Accessing the once-live Origin page for Crysis 3 returns a predictable "PRODUCT NO LONGER AVAILABLE" warning.

A NeoGAF poster also discovered a higher-resolution banner image featuring the same compound bow-packing, nanosuit-wearing protagonist as the temporary Origin boxart, further validating the veracity of this leak. The April issue of Swedish gaming mag Game Reactor also appears to confirm the leak, teasing a game with the series' familiar hexagonal pattern.

We've reached out to EA for comment on the game and when we can expect to learn more. In the interim, keep checking Origin?

Update: EA got back to us and didn't play coy! "The best kept secret in shooters just can't be contained. Stay tuned for more information on April 16," the statement reads. Mark your calendars for next Monday, folks.

They ported Crysis 1 to the consoles... so whatever they did to that castrated version they could do it to the next one.

I would seriously love it to be open world.. but I'll bet $1 dolla it's going to be like a dlc/expansion type. No openworld / jungle etc. City again.

But that is just my feeling..

I dont know I didnt play the console version. But they managed to get most of the game on there and it wasnt even created to be for consoles. So if they have all this extra time to optimize for consoles I do not see why it cant be open world again.

Open world + the suits powers was what made Crysis for me. Take away the open world and you are no longer to do those crazy things that only you can think of.

I was so disappointed when I actually got my hands on crysis 2 I didnt even finish it.

I thought C2 was great and had plenty of choice, just not the breadth of the C1 levels. I am certainly interested. I just hope they do a better job with the PC version. Things like custom graphics settings, dx11 and less buggy multiplayer.

yea i enjoyed it too. hopefully this time they will ship the multiplayer with some sort of anti cheat protection (although i really do question if there is any point of this at all)

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and predict that PC piracy will be the cause of whatever ends up being disappointing to them about this release.

there is no point, and in many cases anti cheat like punkbuster give more problems to legitimate players then the cheaters, devs really need to release server cleints, and allow users to host their own boxes and monitor the server for cheaters themselves.

Pretty sure the only level that was actually cut was the one where you're floating about inside the Alien Ship like a turd in the toilet (Ascension?). So damn annoying that level, was literally float along cloaked, hide, regenerate cloak float along again, rinse and repeat for the entire level. Took me ages to figure out wtf i was meant to do as well.

Never had a problem with controls. I thought the main reason would be because the level performed like crap and wasn't fun.
