50 hours and only 12 levels later, I am still fooling around in Velen.
Actually, I went back to White Orchard for easy Places of Power I missed.
Negative progress.

This is one of those once in a generation type games - the last was KotOR? haven't played Mass Effect - and quite possibly the best game I've ever played once I tweaked and modded it to my liking.

Also Death March gives lesser xp.

Yeah, I am a slow player and my Geralt doesn't believe in Fast Travel.
Also Death March gives lesser xp.
Goode idea not using fast travel. I didnt use it until late game, and it made the game so much more enthralling for me.
As for less xp on death march, its meaningless, you'll still be over leveled by the end.Never put off tomorrow what you can put off today!

I chose Death March because the game was ridiculously easy otherwise.
DM makes the combat more calculative, specially if you don't use Quen (Yrden is just so much more fun) and have only dodge/roll to rely on.
Though mainly it's just me being slow.
It takes me 40 hours to finish most games, even linear ones.

Got the five main endings of Nier: Automata. Great game, do recommend!
Started playing Kingdom Come Deliverence. Wow this game runs terrible. Outside of towns I seem to get 'excellent' performance (60+) maxed out but in towns even high preset can dip below 60.ASUS PG279Q | ASUS Strix GTX 1080 Ti OC 2025MHz/12.2GHz | Intel i7 3770K 4.7GHz [Noctua NH-U12P SE2] | 2x8GB G.Skill TridentX DDR3-2400 10-12-12-31-1T | Fractal Design R4 | Be Quiet! Have a L90 arc trapper and an L90 ele hit scion in the latest Path of Exile Syndicate league. Stopped playing the trapper cause it's too squishy, the ele hit char does much better in the high damage content in game atm.
PoE broke it's online playerbase record multiple times this league (right after Blizzard's disastrous Diablo 'don't you guys have phones' incident) and has had a lot of league content added to the base game. It's a great time to jump in if you've never played before, though it's best to follow a build guide as the game can be complicated for newcomers.[Proc: Ryzen 9 7900x][GPU: MSI RTX3060Ti 8GB][Mem: 64GB G.Skill RipJaws 6000-DDR5][Mobo: MSI Pro X670-P][HD: Samsung 2TB NVMe 980 Pro][PSU: EVGA SuperNova 850W G2][Audio: Yamaha RX-V673 7.2/JBL 7.2 Surround]

Continued playing Shadow of Tomb Raider. Oh man, this is why I HATE new games. Tons of lameass quicktime events, tap repeatedly to open boxes/doors, backtrack to previous stages to open up tomb previously inaccessible because not having the right gear. THIS IS BORING! I really hope the game I anticipate (Ace Combat 7, Serious Sam 4, Metro Exodus) don't suck.Originally posted by jimjobobIf 3 fans left the station at 10:30am cooling at a temp of 63c and one fan was derailed by a stray sata cable on the track, how long would it take all 3 fans to get on Seyiji's last nerve?

playing a bit more of Bomber Crew. The difficulty ramps up very quickly, perma death ain't helping either, but it's a lot of fun.

Hit 650 on my Titan character in Destiny 2 while playing solo and fairly casually with only one character. It's not difficult to hit max light level, it will also be even easier if you're in a raid group or share loot with multiple characters.
Destiny 2 is in a fairly good spot right now, during the gaming drought you usually see in Q1 and Q2 of a new year, if by then you can pick up D2+expansions for 40 bucks it will be worth it if you're feeling for some online rpg-ish FPS gameplay.[Proc: Ryzen 9 7900x][GPU: MSI RTX3060Ti 8GB][Mem: 64GB G.Skill RipJaws 6000-DDR5][Mobo: MSI Pro X670-P][HD: Samsung 2TB NVMe 980 Pro][PSU: EVGA SuperNova 850W G2][Audio: Yamaha RX-V673 7.2/JBL 7.2 Surround]

****ing finally finished Red Dead Redemption 2. The game outstays its welcome by a good few hours, like so many games do. The main story ends a good couple of hours before the credits roll, and I feel both the main story and the epilogue were longer than necessary.
It's a wildly impressive technical feat, RDR2. I love the open world, the gameplay when roaming about is excellent, the graphics are some of the finest of a generation. It's a memorable ride in terms of storytelling, and as a time piece it's absolutely fantastic. On the other hand, the mission design is flawed to the bone, belonging two generations back instead of now: as a game, RDR2 sits between convincing and disappointing, both at the same time.
In more ways than one, RDR2 feels like GTA: San Andreas all over again. The pinnacle of open world gaming, bogged down by Rockstar's inability to let the player roam free in the campaign. The production values so far beyond what most studios could even dream of, that the player gets drowned in endless animation and cumbersome mini-game systems. Wonderful storytelling, that is dragged along by overambition.
The Last of Us' manner of handling loot and picking up items; The Witcher 3's "follow the road" horse riding and Far Cry 3 or AssCreed: Origins' way of handling free roaming in mission design would've made RDR2 so, so, so much easier to appreciate, it's hard to understand how Rockstar missed that in the eight years they spent building this world and the grand tales it tells.
Because of this, I expect RDR2 will be remembered as a rarity of a game, that is best-in-class in so many areas, yet falls short of a place among the very best games.Last edited by twonha; Jan 5, 2019, 06:19 AM.May the Yods be silent

In a game that's as open world as RDR2, I think it's the wrong design choice to make, to force the player into a very linear path in what's otherwise a very open world game. See HITMAN, Far Cry 3 or Assassin's Creed: Origins for examples of missions that do give the player more freedom. RDR2 doesn't need total freedom (that'd get in the way of the story), but I feel the balance between doing exactly what the developer wants exactly when they want you to, and being free to do whatever kind of crap you want and let the simulation handle it, is off in RDR2.May the Yods be silent

At least FC3 and ACO have exactly the same ideas on mission design. You have multiple approaches but generally the area is designated and moving away from it causes mission failure. I do recognize that RDR2 has almost all missions completely linear but it also makes for incredibly amazing set pieces and fire fights. You can't have it all.

More Monster Hunter World; Farmed Arch Tempered Teostra, farmed Behemoth. Currently farming Kulve Taroth. Love how chill and still fun game. This is my current go to game!
Playing the Vagrant which is close in art to Dragon's Crown (still waiting for it on PC :/). Surprisingly fun side scroller despite the "exposure".
On PS4 playing, for the first time ever, Shadow of the Colossus Remastered! What a game! Can't believe this is a PS2 era game. It has aged so well, it still beats a lot of stuff released later.
The occasional Soul Calibur 6 and DBFZ matches because I just love fighting games.*Sending A Dream Into the Universe*

Played a bit of Shadow of Tomb Raider. Bored to death, only played about 30 minutes. Yesterday I play Star Wars KoTOR on my retro windows XP PC, I glued in my seat for 2 straight hours, and I'm still on Taris. How come old games that I already know be more fun than new games I've yet to finish?Originally posted by jimjobobIf 3 fans left the station at 10:30am cooling at a temp of 63c and one fan was derailed by a stray sata cable on the track, how long would it take all 3 fans to get on Seyiji's last nerve?

Well Shadow of Tomb Raider made 2nd in Blandest Game in 2018 as per Yahtzee Zero Punctuation list, the previous Shadow of Tomb Raider reached 3rd in 2017. Yep that shows how boring that game is.
