The multiplayer is included, no need for an online pass on our poor pc platform since we already have stricter drm than any console.

i think it downloads the data, then installs it separately so it asks for twice the disk space actually required. after you're done, you can delete the installation files. i'm currently downloading the game from d2d and the file size is 10.1 gigs.

my understanding is that the plasma cutter you unlock by importing a save is basically just a reskin of the one you get in the 2nd game to make it look like the one from the first game. it doesn't have any special properties, nor do you get it earlier than normal. you'll have to wait till you get the regular one and then choose maybe?

i could be wrong though, but i think this is it.

You pick up the high power plasma cutter along the way. Then you can buy the refurbished plasma cutter for free in the store.

While its stats is the same it actually helps a lot be reducing the need of reloading.

I'm in chapter 7, and it's getting difficult, on "Survivalist" mode, which is the 3rd difficulty setting, partly because I'm running out of ammo, partly because there's so many of 'em.
Up to chapter 5 it was really interesting, story wise. The last 2 chapters however were considerably less interesting. The reviews say the story picks up in the final chapters of the game, so I guess it's cool.

DS Ignition should in no way be allowed to be categorized as a goodie, it's more like a giant **** you from ea.

Well yeah it is a puzzle game which is 180 degrees away from the Dead Space series. However as a puzzle game its design isn't too bad. The problem with it is the INSANE difficulty. I got stuck at one puzzle for like 15 minutes and I just gave up.

Dear Lord have mercy on the puzzle nubs (e.g. FPS experts).

Try to use objects to kill mobs whenever possible. That will save you tons of ammo. Those tiny spider things you can kill them by throwing anything at them. The slightest touch will kill them.

As for necromorphs, grab any container/chair and throw it at them. That should knock them off their feet. Rush forward and stomp them to death. Else shoot off their leg, grab their leg, and throw it back at him. You can also stomp them to death after cutting off the leg if you are fast enough.

For pregnants ALWAYS cut off their leg and stomp them to death before those spiders come out.

I read somewhere you can even try statics +punch mobs (e.g. Stalkers) to death. Hasn't try that yet.

At the end, there is no shame in buying ammo. Buy ammo and health kits if you need them. I am playing on Zealot and I have more the enough money for everything.

Max your plasma cutter damage before anything else. Then upgrade your rig to level 2 hp. After that max the damage of all your guns before going back to the rig. And always buy the latest suit available.

No AA for me, Nvidia GTX 275.

Great game so far. The sound design is insane.
The only 2 annoyances are related with the lack of AA (I tried the NV inspector trick, and prefer playing the game with maxed shadows, so no AA for me) and the big one: 3D stereo is screwed.
It runs beautifully too: capped in refresh, at 120fps.

God damn why I love MLAA.

How many chapters are there. In the original there were like 10 chapters and game was about 9-10 hours. This one is too small too quick.

So it seems there are 14 or so chapters. If that is the case then this game would last about 7-8 hours tops at this rate.

this next one is with 8x aa forced from the nv control panel only. as you can see, aa doesn't work here either.

aa + normal shadows doesn't really look that bad so i think i'll stick with it. not really convinced that jaggies + high quality shadows would be any better.

performance stays locked at 60fps no matter what.

I must be a slow player. I already spend like 10 hours on it and I am just starting chapter 7. I did die a lot in some areas. Damn Zealot difficulty! And damn those 2 hit kill stalkers!

Well at least the flashlight is mounted on the gun.

There are some small annoyances in EyeFinity, luckily they only affect the menu and not the gameplay. Main menu is fine, however when you try to start a new game or continue a previous game the screen is blurred and you can barely read the text. There is a thread on EA forums about it (just posted there).

BTW after disabling vsync in game and forcing it via D3DOverrider it works fantastic at 60 fps.

Thanks for the tips. I rarely used the kinesis ability to punch mobs with objects, because I always seem to position myself in such a way I have nothing around me to throw at the necros when they charge.
Last night I reached an area where all doors close and I get attacked by a truckload of those children like creatures and a few babies which insta kill you if they explode near you. I had 3 plasma cutter rounds, and 24 pulse rifle rounds
It was absolutely insane, probably the best fight I had in the game so far. It took me a while but I managed to snipe the exploding babies and somehow managed to take out the remaining ones with melee attacks and a few well aimed chairs thrown across the room

After that fight I ran to the nearest shop and bought all the ammo I could carry
