I played it on normal had a ton of money at the end and nodes and health packs and ammo, so yes you have nothing to worry about as far as spending money and using a node on a door.
I only upgraded my suit and two weapons though. Matter of fact Both games I have never used any weapon besides the flamethrower, pulse rifle and plasma cutter. When they patch the game to make playing through again actually give you the suits it is supposed to, I will play again and try out the other weapons.
What suits are they not giving you on the second playthrough?
The elite suits as well as stuff like the foam finger gun were left out on the pc version due to an error that they are supposedly fixing with a patch. Now as far as a patch goes take that worth a grain of salt, because no one from visceral is even acknowledging the problem, the news of a patch came from a forum moderator at EA.
Yeah i know how to play the facking game mate, im just saying their arent around enough nodes around to upgrade all four weapons to the max - which there should be. Not to mention wasting nodes to connect paths together, stupid if you ask me.
that would make the game way too easy. you decide what you want to use, and use that. there is no "gameplay" reason to use even more than one weapon, and if you want to try other for just fun, do it on the second playthrough when you'll have tons of cash to upgrade to max right away.

I need to vent. Seriously, what MOTHER****ING TWAT came up with the last boss section?! It's ridiculous, I know i'm playing on survivalist but still... Jeez, it stupid! I've retried it about 7 times now ¬_¬
really?
its supposed to be hard O_O you are annoyed you keep dying? play on normal.

I wish I had not played the game on normal on my first playthrough, it was way too easy, I think I had 400 rounds for the plasma cutter and 600 something for the pulse rifle in my inventory for the last battle.

I've done it now, I just can't believe it, I liked playing on survivalist up until the last boss. Personally, I think it was ridiculous, just that part tho? I'm loading myself up with as much ammo as I can buy on the second play through!!!

Want to know what I had that made it so hard?
2 Plasma Cutter rounds, 3 Detanator rounds and 4 Line gun ammo... and NO plasma rifle rounds. I had to run around in a circle for every wave of those little black creatures just to build up ammo. I'd wait till they were quite grouped and launch the remaining Detonator ammo at them, then have to circle around just to pick it up :/

dont worry, you have more than enough money to buy the suits. buying the nodes makes a difference between struggling to survive in every room and enjoying destroying those guys.
if you want to save up, save up, but you really dont need to, there is SO much supplies lying around, you definitely dont need to save up for suits.
My formula was like this after i got to store:
-sell all ammo types i dont need
-sell items that are only able to be sold
-sell stasis refresher thing
-sell excess health/ammo i would need but have extra
-buy as many nodes as i can till i get to <10,000
-leave store.
with this plan, i was fully upgraded with my rig and 2 weapons by chapter 10, and only once did I not have enough for a suit, and i got it 10 minutes later at the next store, and i needed an extra 20,000 for that one hahaha.
About the suits, dont worry, you will find it. Its literally impossible not to find the schematics, they keep showing up in the level if you miss them.
No way, man. I bought nodes only a handful of times, spent 80% of my money on ammo and the rest on suits. I doubt I would have survived otherwise. On the final chapter I ran all the way to the end using stasis on all the enemies I came across and may still not have enough ammo for the final fight which is being a total bitch of a thing .

If you have at least one weapon upgraded to the max (like the plasma cutter), harder difficulty modes are not that hard, imo.
I'm currently playing on Zealot, and it's not hard at all: my weapons of choice are fully upgraded and I shred through everything in my path. Granted, if a necro gets close I'm royally screwed, but that doesn't happen very often.
That's why I think using a trainer for power nodes in order upgrade your stuff early on can seriously degrade the experience, as most mobs die from 2 shots max.
I'm playing with a maxed out plasma cutter (with the special attack enabled), a reasonably upgraded line gun and the plasma rifle for those pesky little exploding kids.
edit.
I'd also like to point out that I can't remember the last I've read a thread on rage about an already released singleplayer game where people are actually enjoying what they're playing, are talking about gameplay instead of system requirements, and generally seem to have a good time
I guess this is further evidence of the game's quality.
i'm having a very strange problem with the lighting in the game. once in a while, something will happen and all the lighting in the game will disappear. i've only found one way to reproduce the issue so i put it up on youtube... basically, shooting the exploding sac of the necromorph makes the game hitch for a second and then i lose all lighting (except monitors in the game). isaac himself seems to be lit, but everything else goes dark. this problem also gets triggered randomly and happens every 2-3 checkpoints or so. it's quite annoying because the only way i can fix it is by exiting the game completely. that means either having to replay the game from a previous save, or continuing to the next save station in doom 3 like pitch black. not fun either way
here's the video -

UPDATE - alright so it looks like i found the solution to this issue on another forum. it apparently only happens if you are running an sli system and you force anti-aliasing through nvidia inspector using the custom flag. the fix is to open the dead space 2 profile in nvidia inspector and enable this flag - 'Antialiasing - SLI AA' set to 'AA_MODE_SELECTOR_SLIAA_ENABLED'. i tried this and came to a section where i had to shoot 3 of these exploding necromorphs in the same room and the lighting didn't go haywire at all.
As for the ammo, i dont get how you burn through your ammo so quickly. I always found enough lying around, and even sold excess ammo.
Using kinesis + enemy claws is the same as 2 or more shots with plasma cutter, especially as you upgrade your kinesis-killing-power through your suit upgrades.

To key to getting "rich" is to save as much ammo as you can by using kinetics. Also NEVER use those mid and large size health kits. Sell them all for cash. Stick with small health packs those should be more than enough. There is no cool down between using the med kits anyways.
I rarely got stuck after "abusing" the Javelin Gun. This gun is so damn overpowered it isn't funny. At max Pulse rifle hits for 9 damage a hit. Plasma cutter hits for 18 damage. Javelin Gun hits for a 100 damage. No I am not kidding you it hits for 100 freaking damage!!! The javelins always stun the enemy no matter where you hit them. And to top it off the bullets are super cheap at $200 each, which I believe is the same price as one plasma cutter bullet. I use pulse rifle for those small guys and Javelin gun for everything else. Just a slaughter. I didn't bother with the secondary fire.
The strongest single shot weapon is the Contact beam which hits for 175. But you need to charge it up. Its bullet is also $2,000 each. No point getting this over the Javelin Gun. However the hacker version is free.
I am not sure where all the hate came from for the final boss. It was pretty easy.
Just ignore all the mobs. Shoot nicole with Javelins X3, shoot heart with Javelin X3, repeat 3 times (heart dies after 9 javalins), GG
I find the part just before the final boss much more frustrating. Unlimited mob spawn is gay. I didn't buy enough potions so I had to load an old save to get back to the LAST shop. The 2nd try I just buy myself like 15 small potions and 40 javalins. I didn't need to use them all b4 game over. In one of the room (with a U-turn) there is a static can which helps a lot. There are a lot of weapon lockers there so make sure you grab everything.
Not sure if I will get into hardcore. Saves are limited to 3 per chapter and no checkpoints.

Just buy a Javalin Gun, max its damage+capacity, and watch that last boss die.
And make sure you stock up in that VERY LAST store. There is no store before the final boss. I think it is a serious design flaw of the game but we have to live with it.

I know, but I was determined to do it with the limited ammo I had, that and I didn't want to restart the chapter lol. If I'd had plenty of ammo on me it would've been fine and I wouldn't have got so frustrated. I agree they should have a shop closer to the boss to stock up. Well when you were in the situation I was in anyway where I was surviving both on the boss and rest of the chapter before on the lowest amount possible... not cool. Little did I know how hectic it would get

SUPER AMAZING GAME!
Just finished it. Did last boss fight in second try. Loved every minute of it. Last romp to the marker was exhilerating. Felt like gonna get raped but in the end raped those pups. Total time of 7.5 hours and loved every minute of it.
Tried the MP also and was able to win both rounds (as humans and as necro). I am currently level 2 in MP only but think it will be fun to play through it some more. Playing as necro is also loads of fun!
All said and done, this game was just bloody awesome and I hope they make more of it or release tons of add on content. Going to start a second playthrough sometime soon also
For those wondering if using nodes on doors is worth it, in the first game there was a node behind every second locked door anyway, so ALWAYS use nodes on doors.
Never put off tomorrow what you can put off today!

yep.
i played 12 hours on sp, and 8 on mp. i think i am done with this game. very very worthwhile experience.

Hey guys, I was wondering if Dead Space 2 v-sync has been fixed and included the extremely mouse lag. I remember disabled v-sync in Dead Space 1 and it was huge difference.

It's fixed, the ingame vsync option is broken though, it caps the framerate at 30fps.
that's a bug when you enable vsync in the game. disable it from the options, and then force it through your nvidia driver control panel or d3d overrider if you use ati and the game will run at 60fps.
An online petition for this fellow has reached 24k signatures, and one of the dead space devs has confirmed they'll add this feature.
Now, while I do realise key remapping should be the freaking standard, and patching the game just to cater for a disabled gamer can be considered nothing more than a marketing ploy...holy ****, that guy makes me appreciate things I take for granted.

Dang! I never knew that I seen this disabled gamer like before...he can do it no matter if he is a disabled! And yeah, I agreed that dead space devs should add key remapping to this game.
