man I really want to start a second play through, but I am going to wait til they release the patch which puts in all the stuff they left out of the pc version for completing the game on the second play through and hardcore etc..

As it stands now there is absolutely zero incentive to go through the game again, although it is a great game.

Having a problem w/ DS2 - At the beginning of the game, I can run, but cannot stomp anything. I've tried remapping the key to no avail. You have to kick the nec into the closing door, but I can't kick and die each time.
          Any suggestions? Thx in advance...

that one is hard for me, even on normal. remember to rip the claws off the dead guys and shoot them, keep moving/sprinting around, and try to rape the spitters first cause they hurt you from a distance.

Stomp is spacebar. I think when you fight any monster that latches on to you, you have to press E. Especially if you are playing in the dark, sometimes it's easy to press "r" by accident. I really dont remember pressing spacebar, or "e" to be honest in the opening sequence.

You should upload a clip if possible and you still need help.

Thank you for the fast reply. Just tried hitting "e" and space quickly, over and over, and it worked!
THANK YOU! I'm buried in ice here in Indy, and having more than 3 min of the game is great.

Sleep well tonight - you did a good deed.

                  enjoy it, my friend.

Usually, "spacebar" = stomp and E = "action". However, if you need to press "e" to get rid of a monster that grabbed you, or to progress further in the cutscene, like what you experienced, a big "E" should be flashing on your monitor.

anyone played multiplayer in this? And i mean people who actually enjoy multiplayer, not those that just tried it 5 mins and hate the majority of online players

multiplayer value is a huge factor for me in game purchases so im curious.

I havent yet. imo, some games you buy for only multi-player, some for single, and some (rarely) for a mix of both. I have yet to see a decent SP game with a great MP (if you say COD, you will be slapped ), or a good multiplayer game with a enjoyable SP.

I just passed dead space today, so i will try multiplayer tomorrow, but it would have to be *******G UNBELIEVABLE for me to stop playing BFBC2 for MP.

Dead Space 1 and 2 are such awesome SP games, as is HL series, Metro, STALKER, etc etc etc, that the lack of MP should in no way stop you from getting the game. I think I understand how you feel: they promise multiplayer, it should work well, so if it doesn't, am I getting ripped off? I really wouldn't worry about it, and enjoy the SP experience 99% of mainly SP titles have TERRIBLE mp, so if you only buy games that have good mp playing value, you are really limiting yourself and not enjoying, imo, awesome games.

ye, i think im asking for too much. games that have both sp and mp amazing, are quite rare, true. And i do buy single player games, but i value mutliplayer games a bit more, unless its an rpg that i know will be worth it in raw hours/dollar ratio.

still curious though if its anywhere near as good as l4d versus modes.

Well I bought myself a javelin gun and got it done in 1 try. This gun is super overpowered.

I actually had a heated argument with a colleague at work about that damn Javelin Gun. Stupid random drop system, I beat the game and didn't see the gun once !
Now I'm playing in New Game +, and the blueprint dropped after less than 2 hours.

Beated the game @Survivalist mode in less than 7 hours w/ a fully upgrades suit/plasma cutter. Haven't touched the other weapons.

The ambient sounds in this game are of the scale! Running around in the dark, hearing monsters run around you, babies crying. DAMN!

9/10 - except the last boss was a joke.

I died once there because I focuses on those children but all you have to do is focus on killing Nicole and then shoot at the boss when it opens up. Takes like 30 seconds to beat it.

You may change your mind when Assassin's Creed Brotherhood makes it to the PC.
I think the MP was very well done and the SP is A+++ of course.

I am loving DS2, I am parallel playing it on the PS3 and PC at the same time.
                                2 different experiences.
One in a dark living room, on a 55" flat screen and uncompressed multi channel sound.

The other on a decent gaming PC with multichannel headphones.

I am surprised the tech of this game isn't being talked up more.
I know it is a console port but I am very impressed by the lighting and smoke effects (at least on the PC).
Walking around and seeing the smoke being displaced as I walk through it without a frame dip.
Not sure what physics engine they are using but I am impressed.

The physics engine is annoying at times though. I've had several limbs being stuck in doors causing all kinds of weird noises. Really scary stuff.

It still gives an impressive experience though.

Both Dark Messiah and FEAR were fantastic single player games that had excellent multiplayer. Bad Company 2 has a decent single player game also. How about star craft or red alert, great multi player/single player games. Prey also had both excellent MP and SP, it was just unfortunate that the game got overlooked by so many.

Stalker even had a decent multiplayer tacked on to it, though it wasn't very popular.

The only games I tried out of those are BFBC2, STALKER, and FEAR. I couldnt stand sp of BFBC2 for longer than 10 minutes, and never even tried FEAR mp, but I agree STALKER had a great mp. I played it for a bout a week or two weeks.

It's one of the best ports I've played in a while, and minus some amusing ragdoll problems, almost bug free.

This problem is annoying me to no end. I have tried all sorts of game/driver settings and it wont stop. It randomly happens too. Sometimes its fine, then wham it starts. Then goes away.. only to happen again. 4850 latest drivers.

playing the single player, not very far in but i'm already liking it a lot more than the original dead space.

i have a question... is it worth holding on to power nodes to unlock the secret doors? the reason i ask is because power nodes were relatively rare in dead space 1, so it wouldn't make sense to use them up just for ammo resupplies. on the other hand, if something as important as suit upgrade schematics are behind closed doors, then it's definitely worth saving the power nodes. in fact, is it possible to get the suit upgrades through the normal course of the game or do you have to look around for them and stuff? i'd like to get them all because, imo, the suit upgrades are the single most important thing in the game.

there is about 1 node door per level. if i remember correctly, DS1 had slightly more. if you already opened up a node door in a level, and you got more nodes, feel free to use those, also any spare cash you get, buy nodes, and sell all the ammo types/stasis you dont need. I didnt use stasis at all, instead use kinesis. I stuck it out with 2 main weapons the whole game. upgrade your plasma cutter + suit + maybe one other weapon. pretty sure there aren't any important schematics behind doors, if there are, there is usually a node waiting close by. the suit upgrades are very important imo, and are generally easy to find. if you miss one, it pops up later, so its not like you miss a whole suit completely.

buying nodes at 10,000 credits a piece seems too expensive if you ask me. i save all my money for suit upgrades... just played through dead space a couple of weeks ago and i remember that the suit upgrades cost 50,000 credits near the end. unless money is a lot easier to find in this game?

you said the suit upgrades show up later. does that mean it will automatically be in the store if i miss the schematic? or does it mean that the schematic will show up again later on in the levels or something?

Im on Chapter 6 and this game is definetely short on power nodes IMO. Every weapon requires lots of power nodes to get it to fully updraged, would be nice if they scattered more nodes around the levels.

dont worry, you have more than enough money to buy the suits. buying the nodes makes a difference between struggling to survive in every room and enjoying destroying those guys.
if you want to save up, save up, but you really dont need to, there is SO much supplies lying around, you definitely dont need to save up for suits.

My formula was like this after i got to store:

-sell all ammo types i dont need
-sell items that are only able to be sold
                                                          -sell stasis refresher thing
-sell excess health/ammo i would need but have extra

-buy as many nodes as i can till i get to <10,000

                                                          -leave store.

with this plan, i was fully upgraded with my rig and 2 weapons by chapter 10, and only once did I not have enough for a suit, and i got it 10 minutes later at the next store, and i needed an extra 20,000 for that one hahaha.

About the suits, dont worry, you will find it. Its literally impossible not to find the schematics, they keep showing up in the level if you miss them.

Again, remember to use kinesis to kill the bad guys. sometimes its very convenient. You kill the first guy in the mob, and the way he falls, you see his claws easily, detach them, and hold it in front of you, waiting for the next guy. You can save a lotta ammo this way.

I couldnt stand sp of BFBC2 for longer than 10 minutes, and never even tried FEAR mp, but I agree STALKER had a great mp. I played it for a bout a week or two weeks.

I have no idea why we can't use those maps in MP!!

I only upgraded my suit and two weapons though. Matter of fact Both games I have never used any weapon besides the flamethrower, pulse rifle and plasma cutter. When they patch the game to make playing through again actually give you the suits it is supposed to, I will play again and try out the other weapons.
