    Ghostbusters- Way to enable AA?

    This game needs AA really badly. There are so many jaggies on the proton pack and ghosts it looks really bad. Is there a way to force it? I tried in the control panel with no luck.

    With nvidia card rename the exe to ut3.exe, or use unreal engine compatibility bits in nhancer. Can't say if the renaming thing works with an ATI card.

      I think that's for ATI cards since nV has profiles and don't require renaming of exe's.

        What is the normal EXE name for the game anyway?

          Yep, but you can't change the compatibility bits for AA without nhancer, so that's a quick fix for those who don't use it.

            Well i tried this with no luck. There are many UT3 combatibility things though. It said this is an infernal engine game though.

              I read in another forums that the compatibility bit in nhancer is 00000041: unreal engine 3.

                edit: nm it does work fine but the proton pack is not Anti Aliased for some reason.

                  classic U3 engine. AA doesn't work on everything.

                    ^Errrmm...It's not UE3 but the Infernal Engine.

                        Just FYI, it is possible to specify a compatibility mode without using nHancer if you so desire. All the nVidia game profile settings are stored as registry keys. nHancer basically just automates the process below. This is copied verbatim from my post on the subject for The Last Remnant, change the EXE name as appropriate.

                        -----

                        AA works using standard UE3 compatibility mode. For whatever reason (probably just lack of knowledge about the game), nVidia doesn't have the AA compatibility setup for the game. If you know how to edit your registry, you don't need to mess with nHancer if you don't normally use it.

                        1. Enable AA for the game in the nVidia control panel as you would normally.

                        2. Open regedit.

                        3. Search for _tlr.exe. It should find a key under: \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHine\System\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{hardware device ID}\0001. Congrats, you just found where nVidia keeps app profiles.

                        4. Right click -> New -> Binary Value. Name the key and give it a value as shown below:

                          Try editing the settings.ini file

                          antiAliasMultipleX=1
                          antiAliasMultipleY=1

                          Change the above numbers to 2 or 4 or whatever.

                                  True but any self respecting nV card owner would have to have nHancer by default.

                                    I would like to know where this file is as well...purchased Ghostbusters from Steam but cannot locate this. Would really love to enable AA in this game. Any idea on how to do that?

                                                See, this (IE., the above game, which was just released; "America's Army 3", which was just released; etc) is the #1 reason we really should have access to the Cat AI profiles in a configurable XML or .ini file or something instead of compiled .DLL.

                                                It's just silly that nVidia users can simply enter their control panel, click 'new profile', and set up AA settings/AF settings/etc for any new game and have it work, while ATI users have to rename .exe files to some other game's in order to have the same effect. I mean, if that works, with an open file, we could just copy the UE3.exe section, give it a new .exe, and done.

                                                Problem with the current "just rename the .exe" 'solution' is that it's impossible to do for:
                                                - Direct2Drive
                                                - Steam
                                                - Most MMOs
                                                - etc

                                                ...it's just not always possible to assume the user can rename the game executable.

                                                      In addition to being in 3d, it will give you some SSAA by default.

                                                                      Same here when I edit the settings.ini file and I enable AA, I can see that AA works, but performance gets down right away, especially when I turn around and new textures load.

                                                                      So I turned AA off and everything is good. I play at 1920x1080 and I have Phenom II X-4 940 BE @ 3.515GHz, 4GB 2x2 G.Skill @ 1066, 2 x hd4870 1GB in Crossfire @ 780/1000, Using Cat 9.6 on Vista 64bit.

                                                                      At that resolution and everything maxed the game looks great and play great, I enabled vsync at 60Hz and it keeps the frame rate at 60FPS.

                                                                      Good game though, I like that I am able to pretty much destroy any object, especially cars and buses on the street

                                                                      Cheers

                                                                          Nope, 1 is no AA, 2 enables it, don't know if higher numbers change anything. I think it uses Supersampling, it smooths the image nicely but the performance hit is big.
