That would be awesome. I love l4d. It's really one of the first games in a long time that I actually put on a wishlist. Totally worth it. I have to decide now though if I should get it for PC or Xbox.

Maybe you can play them in L4D2, but I doubt they'll be included automatically because there is a combo pack for both L4D and L4D2. I suppose that could just be so you could play L4D for a couple of weeks until the sequel, but if so I think the people who purchase it will be pissed.

What I'd really like is if someone mods it so you can add a 5th or 6th survivor and use one of the old characters. Yeah that might make the game too easy, but we've all been there where we have 5 friends who want to play: too many for a campaign or a single versus team, but not really enough for a true versus game (6 is better for even teams).

well there's a mod currently out which can increase a server size to 18 for versus (called left 4 downtown), so i guess someone will manage to do the same for l4d2. however, importing one of the older characters might not be possible, or maybe even against the eula. hopefully, valve will do it themselves (and it seems possible seeing the directory structure). either way, i'd love to see more of the original survivors.

LoL! Yeah, it doesn't help when they do those bundle sales on steam.

My real problem is that most my friends are primarily Xbox gamers. So it's either I play strangers online or people I know on Live. Hopefully amazon has another one of those mad deals like they did with l4d one. I would hate to pay 40 bucks more for the Xbox version.

Its odd the pre load for the demo doesnt ask for a code or something... not that it matters as I didnt get one from EB on my preorder and I cant get it started due to servers being overloaded...

Steam broke my 4 pack purchase!
The gift links popped up, clicked the demo one to get my friends preloads going, which then gave me a tinny garbled window instead of a selection of friends. Closed that then tried again and got the same thing. Closed down Steam and now the links aint there and its as if i just bought it for myself

Still says otherwise on my reciept email so its all down to Valve support now.

it's been delayed... releasing in about 8 hours from now.

edit - to clarify, that's the time given on the official l4d2 steam group page (adjusted for your local time). they could very well release it before that too... who knows.

• there seems to be some mention of two DLC packs, people are unsure of if it is for L4D1 or 2 but here is the copy/paste (due to the mention of the Survival Pack, people think its for the 1st game).

• in the Maplist, there is mention of the original campaigns, speculation on whether they will be included in the final version has come up
• because this is the dedicated server files, people have found mention of being able to pick the original survivors in the lobby (Mugshots from the lobby character selector)
• Swamp Fever and Dead Center campaigns only have 4 maps each
• Here is a whole list of VMF and VMT files that you can view using this program.
