    E3 2023 Cancelled.

Probably not a surprise considering the big 3 cancelled prior. I guess everyone likes having their own gaming show now.

This comes after months of publishers announcing they're skipping the event and general confusion over what's happening at E3 2023.

yeah it was never happening. covid killed it, when everyone realized it was just so much better and easier to do it themselves, and then keeley on top of that filled in any left over spot. e3 is just pointless at this point.

In this digital world there's no need for one big bloated yearly conference to gather journalists together to disseminate information in magazines and 'paper press' anymore. The pandemic accelerated it's closure but even before it was already on its last breaths.

Not surprised but does feel like an end of an era.

I think it is a shame, I preferred the more concentrated e3 format over this whole "summer of gaming" concept where they spread out announcements over several months.

Writing was on the wall for a while. With more publishers pulling out it was inevitable. I think it's more natural to let publishers do their own showcase whenever they're ready, rather than try to meet E3 dates. With E3 over the last few years 90% of games get announced in the weeks leading up to the event anyway.
