Member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race-"Doesn't any game maker know how to make a PC feeling game anymore? I hate all this console afterbirth crap we're getting lately."
It's very pretty, the shootbang is kind of bad though, it is a shame that capcom seems to feel that you have to intentionally make the shootbang feel off in order to make the combat more tense.
Yes, the shootbang and camera cutting off corners pissed me off in the Valley. Entered chapter 3. Game is OK. Don't see the 10/10 scores. Maybe peeps are feeling their panties soil everytime a zombie village hag tries to bite their necks off. Me, I am not like that, coz I got a big dick and a G5. Mofos.
Finished it a few days ago. Had a great time with it. It got better as it went along. Variety is really strong for RE4, has a lot of enemies and locations. I also found myself enjoying the combat more later as I got used to how it plays with the knife / parry / weapon upgrades. The upgraded rifle is the GOAT. Overall I really enjoyed it and about as much as RE2. (no annoying Mr X lol)
They made a TON of changes from the original and the vast majority are improvements / modernizations. Level structure and flow is better. They give more screen time to characters (e.g. luis and ashley). But I think they needed to tweak Ashley a bit more. She's pretty annoying to escort and basically says nothing for hours. In fact she mostly just pants since she clearly lacks the cardio fitness. They just needed to make her more of a real person. Have her comment on the **** happening. Have her spot some resources. They do a tiny bit in the castle + a few really brief cutscenes, but they needed to take her halfway toward a Naughty Dog companion for me to give this game a 9/10+. I give it 8-8.5/10
I am finding the game incredibly boring. I tried pumping a chapter (chapter 3) and ended up in a shooting gallery game. I was like wtf? Total immersion breaker. Will continue but am not in a hurry to finish.
The merchant is one of those weird parts of Resident Evil games that makes no sense, but like the magical storage box, it should be largely ignored and seen as just a practical tool for upgrades etc.
For reference I didn't think the first few chapters were great but started to enjoy things more and more from the castle onward, which is chapter 7+ I think
Since I finished Hogfart, I will start pumping this again. Guess I wasn’t in the mood for some sluggish zombie action. Would’ve very much preferred same treatment as RE2 and 3 instead of this janky mess.
Chapter 7 seems far away. May even turn down difficulty and speed run. Anyways I don’t read anything in RE games.
They should call this game Resident Babysitter 4. Wtf. Hit chapter 6. Pretty much speed running right now and leaving behind a bunch of crap. Going to keep pumping and try to notch this one up for this month.
I just found the original overly long and dull, particularly compared to Code Veronica & Zero the earlier entries, but hey what do i know, I liked RE6
(Just for ref. I've played all the main release RE games (including Revelations series & all of the remakes).
Yeah, it does seem that the babysitter job is not done anytime soon. Hit Chapter 10 and people can't seem to do one thing they need to do. Put a bullet through Leon's head lol. Just got thrown down again in some sewer stuff. What a bunch of nubs.
Hit Chapter 13 now. This game is not easy. I mean the end boss fight of Chapter 12 was quite a mess. And there was at least one chapter where I ran from the boss. Also my journal is full of “failed” side quests because I rushed the game.
Chapters are long and cumbersome. I am not sure I am actually enjoying this game. It also gives me headaches because of the sluggish movements and constant camera shake when something touches Leon.
I am trying hard to make the April list but when I turn this on and know that I can be a bad ass Jedi instead, it is really off putting.
Finished the game. Overall gave it a 8.5/10 as it was good value for money. However, maybe I am not used to long action games anymore. I skipped a ton of side quests as they were not engaging enough. Felt bad about skipping a boss as well because I didn’t have enough fire power. It took me about 14 hours which is pretty decent value for money. I am pretty sure I got this on a promotion so didn’t pay full price.
Managing Ashley wasn’t overly tough except one section where idiots carried her away. Rest of the baby sitting was much better than other games. Game definitely was overly drawn out and had a very bond like feeling in that people kept capturing Leon but not killing him. What a stupid mistake given how many idiots he killed to get to them.
Overall, since I never played the original, I am satisfied with the remake. Stopping and shooting crap must be pretty bad in the original especially given the amount of enemies thrown at you.
I think if you can get it for 20-30 bucks and install some nude mods for Ashley and some other characters you can have a fun time.
Storyline really sways my final score. Also, I am a big believer of giving games their due especially if I invested time in them. Whilst I did find parts of it boring and the overall jank level to be high with camera and movement, I did get used to it. Last few chapters were super long especially w/ regen enemies that pissed me off to no end.
However, story had redemption, the ending fights were some of the best ones and challenging. And that swayed the score.
Martin Slater, 2K games, (Bioshock) about piracy: "You can't afford to be cracked. As soon as you're gone, you're gone, and your sales drop astronomically if you've got a day-one crack"
Game is not mysterious, not scary and it lacks the vibe of 2 and 3 .
RE4 was when the whole franchise took a huge detour away from the vibe of the first few games in the series. It became more action oriented compared to the survival/horror it started off as, and it stayed that way until RE7 where it pivoted back to more of a horror game. I think the janky tank controls also became less cumbersome, but ideal in 4 yet.
