    Windows 7 working drivers thread

This thread is for driver versions that are known to work with Windows 7. I made it because a lot of good links are getting buried in the W7 threads and some of this stuff might come in handy for someone making a new install. Also alot of us are using Win 7 as our primary OS so this thread should serve as reference for all the drivers we might need.

I'll start it with the new version of Intel Matrix Storage Manager that is obviously important to anyone running a RAID setup in Win 7.

Download new and previously released drivers including support software, bios, utilities, firmware and patches for Intel products.

Post anything you can find; sound, video, webcam, anything. Is there a new Realtek driver that gives access to the Realtek control panel? I can't find one.

If you find that a Vista driver works in W7 let us know that too, I've read about a lot of them working. Unfortunately the Vista 64 drivers for my Webcam don't work though .

Right on! Forgot about that one, and it's important because at least on my setup it had no default driver in the W7 install, it gave me the exclamation mark in the device manager right from the start. You need to go in there and right click the SM Bus thingy>Properties>Update Driver and point it to that folder to update it.

I plan on trying out Win7 tonight. I have a 680i and geforce 260 and xfi? Any ideas on drivers for those products?

Aslo is DX10 in this build as well? It would be cool trying out Bioshock.

Yes, I loaded the latest cat 8.12's and steam then downloaded Bioshok and it plays very, very well. This is on the W7 64bit beta. Steam installs the necessary DX files so if you don't have it you may need to install the latest Nov. redistributable DX9/10 update files.

          Hope that helps!

How about xfi and motherboard drivers?

How well ya think it'll run w/ 2gb?

Im just trying to get some facts together before i go through the hassle of installing it, and finding out it would just be pointless.

These kinds of discussion would be better served in their own thread, or in the Windows 7 build thread.

Xfi I think is kinda working (possibly no surround sound, but audio plays) if you install using Vista driver package in Vista compatibility mode.

680i should be natively supported, if not then try the vista nforce drivers installing using vista compatibility mode and report back.

Geforce 260 should be supported with then nVidia windows 7 driver:

With NVIDIA's Windows 10 Migration Acceleration Program, companies adopting Windows 10 can upgrade to a modern virtual desktop environment.

                Instructions:

                1. After a fresh installation of the Windows 7 Beta, click on the Start button.
                2. Click Windows Update (it will be pinned to the top of the start menu). You can also type “Windows Update” into the start menu Search to locate Windows Update.
                3. Within Windows Update, locate and install the NVIDIA driver update (it will either be an important update or an optional update depending on your system).

Although again, you can try the vista package installer using vista compatibility mode.

Xfi Xtreme Audio doesn't work but thats the only one that doesn't work at all , Old driver base and not a true xf soundcard.

And pick the Vista 32/64 driver, either the zip or exe. Works perfectly so far, control panel and everything .

I don't know if it's the drivers or a Source issue... TF2 sounded very quiet so I alt-tabbed out to see the volume mixer has the game down at 10% when all other volumes are at 80%. So I slid it up on par with everything else and it sounded fine. Game over and wait for the next TF2 game... sounds low again... checked... 10% again.

Do you play with a headset?

Windows 7 added an audio ducking function that will reduce volume by 80% by default when it detects communication coming in to make sure you can hear people talking. Try disabling voice chat in the game and see if the audio stays consistent.

They are the SAME drivers as was posted via the guru link a day before Scott posted them . Anyhoo the rear speaker output is very distorted and LOW , you can hardly hear the music through them. Also tried upping the DB in speaker setup

I saw that too , problem with that sound card is the drivers by creative are many months behind the standard xfi soundcard drivers. So unless creative release an update no chance

Its not the same driver that's on guru3D... dig up my post somewhere. The guru3D one (WDM+Vista directories in the extracted folders) did not work. Single package exe worked.

Looking good Jokerz; how about you update your OP to make it kinda an index, linking to posts in the thread regarding specific drivers? Like the realtek ones, or the smbus ones etc.
Also you need merge in pirate-i'm-not-posting-in-no-smegging-drivers-for-windows-7-thread-neil-south's thread (whew! his middle name is long!)

Excellent idea, I did just that. Maybe putting this in your important OS threads sticky would be helpful as well?

                                                            UPDATE

X-Fi Xtreme Audio / Audigy SE / LS / Live! 24-bit are out of luck, cause the driver has a serious issue with Vista 7 that only Creative can fix.
Im back to Vista 64 now anyway , i doubt creative are going to do anything atleast well into window 7's lifetime.

Try disabling voice chat in the game and see if the audio stays consistent.
