Vista and Windows update for drivers!

ok, so its not great, but this is what i love

Recently upgraded a few bits, and put x64 on now i've finally got 4gb of ram (and a motherboad that can use it!)

i was abit upset about the driving signing, thinking my usb tuner will never work without f8, pluged it in, windows didn't find a driver, searches windows update, no driver, but then the windows compatability thing pops up and provides me with a driver link, a 238kb zip file, downoad it, contains WHQL drivers for 32bit and 64bit vista!

To me this is amazing, i've never had a WHQL driver for this device for any edition of windows, and gave up looking a long time ago now it pops up and tells me the download link.

I was pretty impressed by it!

I install unsigned drivers all the time without having to go into safe mode

hrmm, before I could get around it using the timerbomb patch (i think thats what it was) that also stopped driver signing being required, but since sp1 that stopped working and had to press F8 and select the disable driver signing option

Vista x64 is a solid OS. The ONLY problems that i've encountered are some device drivers (digital signing) and codec issues.

To solve the driver signing issue:

                or
Discussion topics on operating systems including all iterations of Windows, Linux, MacOS, BeOS, etc.

                To solve the 'WaterMark' issue:

(if watermark persists, do the install / uninstall trick (i.e. install DreamScene or another Windows Update update and the watermark will go away)

                or

Open up Regedit and navigate to the following keys:

                [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\CA\Certificates\FEE449EE0E3965A5246F000E87F DE2A065FD89D4]

                [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\ROOT\Certificates\2BD63D28D7BCD0E251195AEB5 19243C13142EBC3]

Delete the pair of them and reboot. The test mark message should vanished.
The watermark removal should only be dealt with once TEST MODE has been enabled.

                To solve codec issues:
Install ffdshow x86 and x64 version (both running together).

                ....that's my input.
