Help! File and Settings Transfer Wizard cannot read old data!

I've built the the desktop over the weekend using the HD's that were in the now decommissioned P4. Before I dismantled the old rig, I used the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard that came with XP to back up my documents, pictures, e-mails, mp3's, p0rn, etc. When I tried to recover what I've backed up, it says something like "the location you have specified does not contain any stored data...." where in reality, there's like 11GB of stuff in the folder. I knew I shouldn't have trusted that MS POS to back up my data but I was lazy. What can I do to recover the data? Please help!

Ok, having done some searches, I have found this utility FASTconv that can supposedly manually extract the .DAT files created by FAST. I have also found these instructions on FASTconv but I couldn't really understand how to use the various switches from there. Later on, I've located a forum which discusses the use of FASTconv. Apparently, the command line should be something like fastconv /S:"C:\Documents and Settings\bdorminy\Desktop\USMT2.UNC" /D:"C:\Documents and Settings\bdorminy\Desktop\extract" where /s: is the "source store" and /d: is the destination of the extracted files. Unfortunately, I keept getting Source store is invalid. I've also tried to verify the content of the .DAT by using the /v switch but same result. Does anyone have any clue on what is the correct use of the switches? I really need to retrieve the files as there are some important .doc and .xls files in the My Document folder Please help!!!
