Problem with Vista and my X800Pro

Wasn't sure which forum to put this in but here she is anyway...

So I got Vista installed and everything is cool except for the fact that the device manager has stopped my X800Pro. All it says is it stopped it because it has reported problems. Works fine in XP.

I've tried removing the device and letting Vista find it again and still no go. I've also tried the installing the beta cats and still no go. This one really has me stumped. And of course the display is dog ass slow now. I can barely track my mouse around!

I hope this is just some stupid little problem that's easy to fix!

If anyone has any suggestions please let me know

    Thanks!

I'm actually reinstalling right now. Hope that'll fix it up.

And thing takes FOREVER to install! Looks neat tho if I can get it to install my card.

I was thinking... maybe it has to do with my mobo... you know how it has both AGP and PCI-E. I bet something may be conflicting. Hmmmm.

Anyways, lemme know if you can help!

The only thing I can think of is as you said, the combo interface mobo may somehow be messing up Windows ability to make use of the driver. The only Radeon equiped machines I've seen Vista on both worked flawlessly. Tho one was my wife's rig with a 9800XT, the other with a X1800XL in a customer who's beta testing Vista and brought his rig to the shop last week. But, my wife's rig is a Via chipset, and the customers is an Nforce 4, both working great with Radeons.

Hmm I'm just brainstorming here... could it have something to do with the GART thing? I don't know because I can't even get into the CCC... just won't open up. Hmm I'll try dxdiag and see if I can glean any info from there.

I just love figuring **** like this out!

        Thanks as always moshpit.

Oh and after the reinstall I can't access the internets, go figure.

Yeah, I've tried the beta 2 drivers and the brand new ones for RC1.

See, the thing is is that it actually DOES show up in the device manager, but with the little exclamation mark by it. Then in the remarks all it says is the device was stopped because it reported problems.

Does this even using the default Windows driver.

I dunno, I put alot of time into this one and I'm stumped. I guess later today I *might* be able to get my hands on RC1 to test it out.

              Thanks a bunch fellas!

Make sure to get a report in to MS on this one, it sounds reportable for sure. It may be due to third party functionality, but still is something that should be reported to them to be addressed.

Figured out what the problem is...

It's the ULi AGP drivers. No fix from ULi (nVidia) yet either. One glance at the OCWorkbench Asrock forums and it's all over the front page.

Woot! Got it working. I'm really not even sure how I did it but somehow I managed to install the Uli AGP drivers for Win XP and everything's cool now.

                        Woo hoo! Where there's a will there's a way.
