Opera Picks Up Steam with Speedy 10.0 Beta 3

As a huge Opera fan, I am very much looking forward to the final release of version 10.0.

Over the last few years Opera, a veteran player in the browser industry, has been turning heads by delivering increasingly user-friendly products. While such praise is typically lavished on Firefox, Opera's Speed Dial and synchronization features help set it apart. In fact, the president of Futuremark, Oliver Baltuch, admits that while Opera isn't the fastest browser, he finds it the most pleasant to use for his personal use.

With Opera's first two betas of its upcoming 10.0 browser, it came a long ways to closing the speed gap between it and Chrome/Safari. In the popular SunSpider benchmark, though, the third Opera beta still lags behind Firefox 3.5. Nonetheless, the third beta does offer noticeable speed increases, as well as new customizations.

Article's wrong. Opera is the fastest and bestestest of all. Faster for me on all computers at home and work than firefox and ie (except in javascript) and a bit slower than chrome. Not to mention that opera has this speed with a TON of features built in, while firefox without its extensions is completely useless and if you install a few it becomes as slow as IE6 if not worse.

      Opera ftw.
Some cool info: Tibeten monks, after twenty years or so of practise in the Himalaya, control their brain stem - they can control their heart beat, blood pressure etc. After thirty years they can connect to the internet purely by meditation, setting TCP stacks in their neurons and stuff. Right now I am chatting with a monk who is sitting naked in an ice storm on his towel, his only possesion. He's using ipv6.

Opera is awesome. I tried other browsers, but I keep comming back to opera. It's just so nice to use. Mouse gestures and button combos are fantastic.

You don't realize just how fast Opera actually is until you load it up on a little netbook. The difference between Opera and IE, in that case, is amazing.

Allow me to add some poo poo to this thread.

I hate opera, and every time I give it a try it doesn't make it over a day before it comes off my system.

Last I checked Fire Fox hasn't had too much trouble whipping up on IE without crying to the EU.... just sayin.

          /poo poo

Opera is a different league. its like good music on mtv, its a rarity.

Its a browser that doesn't need plugins IMO and its fast and stable.
some sites have issues, but what browser doesnt have that?

Using this beta since last night on win7. no issues. still dont like the new Interface as much. i use the windows native skin, but in opera 10 its just ugly. I like the 9.64 version of windows native skin. gotta let the devs know that and hopefully they put the old skin back an an option.

Definitely a step in the right direction from the 9 versions. Still has website compatbility issues.

Still not quite as fast as FF 3.5.2., nor does it boot up as quick.
