Stupid Trend cruddy Micro won't install, OR UNINSTALL!
PC-cillin Pro 2008 will not uninstall; what a hunk of garbage. I'm beyond sanity here, Vista Home Premium with SP1 had PC-cillin 2007 installed and working, it has been renewed and PC-cillin 2008 installed, which never finishes its final install steps. Now I have to use system restore to recover from before it was installed, and still cannot uninstall the remanants. Anybody have this problem before? I'm now trying to Install Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 which keeps showing Trend Micro as installed, and attempts to remove it, restarts, and repeats indefinatly.
I've tried the 3 methods of uninstalling that Trend Micro suggest, the start menu entry, the Control Panel entry, and the special debug repair and removal tool, all of which fail or crash.

First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew; Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak out for me.
I'm going to try deleting the directory that PC-cillin installs in, but even in safe-mode there is a single remaining dll that says it's in use. I've disabled all start-up items in msconfig, I guess I need to go registry hunting too now?

Go into safemode uninstall and then try to run CCleaner (reg cleaner). If CCleaner doesn't work in safemode then boot up regularly and try it again. After that is done, make sure you run it multiple times until nothing comes up, reboot once again and try to install trend again or jump to kasp.

ANY home user paying for AV is SILLY. All of the free programs such as AVG applied withg even a LITLE common sense, provide all the portection you need.

That sounds like it'll help in removing TrendMicro from UDHA's computer.

Oh wait, no it won't.
We'll he's pretty much right, but all he's proving is that most people are silly, I'd agree with that. I'm helping out a friend with this, I would NEVER recommend Trend Micro but it was already purchased, so what could I do?
G.I.BRO, it doesn't allow the uninstall procedure to run under safe-mode, thanks for the help though.
I'm thinking I will remove the harddrive, run a full scan on it from another machine with Kaspersky or something, then xcleaner, malware bytes and then ccleaner and see what that does.

There's a safe mode uninstall enabler, trying to find it now. It starts the services you need in Safe Mode to add/remove programs/hardware etc that you normally can't.

Thanks heaps, I've had many times where this would be a huge help!
