How safe is having a browser account and sync'ing passwords, etc?

I'm moving to a new phone and finding there is no encrypted export features on Vivaldi. Browsers nowadays want you to make an account and sync everything. Seems like just another place for a data leak.

I find this disconcerting, rightly so or do I worry for nothing?

It's definitely another place to worry about a data leak. But other things matter too, like the strength of your password, and so forth.

personally i've never used a browser to sync anything simply because i don't trust them (enough). It also depends on how personal the data is we're talking about.

Turns out NO Android browser that I tried can export bookmarks, wtf!? Yeah so I'm doing plan B. There is an app called Bookmark Folder that one can share and store their browser links easily to. This is what I'm doing, no account crap for me.

A seperate password manager is recommended over a browser-based solution. I use KeePass myself (and KeePassium for access to my database on my iPhone).

i use raindrop.io for that kind of stuff. And yes, it's kinda weird, that it's still such a hassle to export favs on mobile browsers.

I use KeePass2 Android Offline but don't allow the integrated functionality for it to inject login/passwords into Android browsers. Is that the preferred safe methodology nowadays instead of having the browser save the login/passwords?
