However, having owned a pair, I can say with confidence that my Beyer DT1990s have better sound-stage while handling the lows superbly. This is with both connected to the same amp/dac setup.

there is no perfect headphone ... Depends on what you want.
I did pic ad2000x because i love violin, piano.I wanted specifically highs and midrange.
i also have a pair of old m50x that is bassy. Are closed back.

The need of drama by the person that made the review brought a laugh to me
This felt like the reviewer actually didn't find any point against them but they just had to put something there ...

Yes exactly. These ATH-A2000z are definitely strong in the mid to high range which is what I was after for gaming clarity. Bass is acceptable, but not stellar. Personally found the closed back version better, but that's just me. Even tried the expensive timber backed version but they didn't have the 'cha-ching' these titanium backed cans have. Again it's probably to do with my broken old ears.

There is a point in the AWKT review

            https://www.whathifi.com/reviews/aud...kutan-ath-awkt

We’re thankful that Audio-Technica has resisted the urge to super-charge the bass frequencies. While the industry as a whole has followed this excess bass philosophy for a number of years now – thanks to the phenomenal commercial success of the Beats brand – the Kokutan take a subtler, more balanced and ultimately more satisfying approach. The lows are agile and textured, giving a firm foundation for the rest of the frequencies, but they also blend in seamlessly.

LoL that's funny, I did exactly what he said when I bought them. Get the Japanese pads and twist them upwards. Gold.

Need to use the alternate earpads for the 1990s, they allow the sound-stage to open wider and trades some of the strong lows for clearer mids/highs.
