It does take extra time for sure. That’s why not asking anyone for it. No urgency anyways.

About the blown up hero boards, buildzoid seems to think that the failed boards has a capacitor mounted in the wrong direction.

Yeah. Reverse polarity from the capacitor seems like a big mistake. Looks like it's only a small batch of boards though.Originally posted by curioEat this protein bar, for it is of my body. And drink this creatine shake, for it is my blood.

If it has the inverted capacitor, shut the machine down and contact ASUS. I'd imagine we'll see RMAs from this.Originally posted by curioEat this protein bar, for it is of my body. And drink this creatine shake, for it is my blood.

I think I got lucky with this one. The mb I mean. I can definitely make out the 6.3V marking on my chip and it is facing the right way. Will need official confirmation hopefully this week from ASUS confirming this is infact the problem. What a nightmare this must be to people though. Burning stuff next to your precious ddr5 ram that one probably paid good money to a scalper can't be good. I'd also hate to rip everything apart again to do a motherboard rma. GPU fails, no problem, it pops in and out. MB? **** that. Took me the whole morning to install. lol...

ASUS just put out a statement. Preliminary assessment seems to be the reversed capacitor issue being the culprit. They are going to work with relevant government agencies on a replacement program. Whatever that means.
Can't copy paste Facebook on my phone for some reason.

Problem affects units from a single production line in Vietnam. I ran Cinebench23 with 1.36v DRAM, SA 1.2, power limits off and XMP 1, moved from 22412 to 22689 score. Temps picked up on the cores as expected, averaging high 70s with max temp hitting 88.
Mid way through the bench I realized I could open up the front of the caseto get better air flow. I did that and temps dropped a few degrees. The CPU pump and fans are on a custom curve, they are balanced, not extreme and they could have been increased to drop the temps a bit more. Also, today we hit 39 degrees. I have the AC on but it was only enough to keep the room in a comfortable level. Couldn’t tell you ambient temps.
For now I'm going to revert it to XMP 2 with power limits off for testing purposes and see how it goes as I haven't spent any time on this to see how games perform.
Right now, the PC is sweet. Everything just runs silky smooth with RT enabled. Whether the $$$ for the upgrade was worth it…..well….who cares, you only live once. But yes, it was worth it.

CB23 is not going to test your IMC for you.
Play the games you crashed in. Stress tests are not a be-all-end-all for stability anymore, not since Comet Lake.Originally posted by curioEat this protein bar, for it is of my body. And drink this creatine shake, for it is my blood.

Yeah I know I just want to test gaming in XMP 2 as is since I haven’t done much gaming then move to XMP 1, test, see what up and then determine how to proceed from there. Then when a new BIOS come out I want to see if the volts have changed. I’ll then bump the memory back up for maximum performance.
Part of the learning curve.

Intel Disables AVX-512 on 12th Gen Alder Lake CPUs via BIOS UpdateIntel is planning to disable AVX-512 support across all 12th Gen Alder Lake-S processors next week. The chipmaker is going to release a microcode update via a BIOS release, completely blocking AVX3 support, even when the efficiency cores are disabled on the Alder Lake SKUs. Earlier, board partners were able to enable the wider instruction …

Intel Core i9-12900KS up to 5.5 GHz boost clock? Intel seemingly confirms there is an even faster 12th Gen Core CPU coming. The company has just posted a mysterious picture on its social media, claiming that the 12th Gen Core (Alder Lake) CPUs are already topping the ‘best CPU’ lists and are already available. However, […]
Now that is a CPU worthy of a KAC upgrade!

Crashed in WD Legion using XMP II. Loads of people complaining on reddit and ASUS forums.
Looking at the boards compatible memory, my F4-3200C14D-16GTZR doesn't appear in there. I guess I'll need to wait for more memory support/BIOs update to come out for an official fix. Will up SA and DRAM voltage if issue persists.

I wonder if this was my game crashing problem. I haven’t run into any problems since I last posted. /shrug
Intel Alder Lake is no longer affected by DRM problems Intel recently updated its website dedicated to Alder Lake DRM issues, confirming that they have been fully resolved. At the launch of desktop Intel Alder Lake CPUs, an issue has emerged regarding the software recognition of the hybrid architecture. Digital Rights Management tools in software […]
