and look where they are today = going out of business sale

and EVGA 3080 were selling on ebay just as high none of them had any control of ebay prices

My point is that EVGA was working with customers to get them cards via queue and not gouging them. Asus had the highest prices of all vendors.

EVGA has been doing the queue system for years. They had it in place for their step-up programs. So transitioning people over to it wasn't that hard of a deal as they already had all the infrastructure to do so in place.

But yeah, EVGA was/is a much better company than a lot of other computer companies out there.

yes they did and they still sold for 2x that on ebay

you blame Asus but this is exactly what got us a 2080 ti FE MSRP of 1199 and a Strix price of 1350

miners jacked up the GTX 1000 prices and the jacket wanted some of that

how many cards did NV sell directly to miners this time and at what price ?

          no one had to buy

i got my 3080 ti Strix for 1099
250 less than my 2080 ti Strix cost

all it takes is a little willpower

but it is a very nice card

and what prices today on anything are not nuts

are intel new mobo prices any better ?
and you plan on not buying a new MB every time with intel

some of the AMD MB pricing is most likely that a lot of people keep those MB for the whole 3 year warranty and longer and just replace the cpu two or three times
Price for my level of X570 is at least $100 more this time. I never get the high level closer to mid level.

There's going to be B650 too, right? Those will have to be cheaper and should be able to run the CPUs competently.

I think the motherboard manufacturers may have just realized they can fleece people on these high end boards. No doubt that sucks if you buy them, but there will have to be more inexpensive boards. The average user simply isn't going to pay $300+ for a motherboard (and I doubt even $200+), so there will have to be other options. Also there's no point even offering lower end 6 core SKUs if the boards all cost more than the CPU.

That's kinda what I was thinking. What were EVGAs margins on these things anyway? If NVDA were selling them at highly inflated margins directly to EVGA then they were just passing those costs on at that point.

When does the NDA expire on the new CPUs anyway? We're 7 days out from availability now right?

After the price-cuts, apparently EVGA was selling every GPU at a loss.

And I assume every other nV AIB is in the same boat.

                        Kinda what I figured.

So they weren't really price gouging you can trace that back to the producer. You know who. lol

Chips that were purchased prior to the price-cuts didn't see rebates or that money returned. What we are seeing now is unprecedented. Apparently the 3090TI FE is @ $1099, and EVGA had their 3090TI FTW3 @ $1399. EVGA was taking a loss at $1399.

It's not entirely about how much NV was charging for the chips, but also how much the cooler design and R&D was required to cool a 550watt GPU, too.

As much as I'd like to think EVGA is trying to get NV to compromise with this move, I don't know. With KINGPIN leaving and/or laid off, it seems to me that they're actually looking to get out of the VGA business. Vince moved a lot of products, and losing/letting him go seems to spell that EVGA is getting out of the "Extreme" part of their brand.

If they think they're going to survive as a PSU company, I think they're mistaken.

Buh don't forget the keyboards and mice! That will clearly be enough to float that boat.

If that ship sinks in the next 1-2 years because of this move coupled with the stubborn refusal to court other partners on the red or blue side of the fence. It never ceases to amaze me how people in high places who ought to know better somehow manage to run things right into the ground.

Those motherboard prices are insane, I bought my x570 around master at $350-ish years ago and now I think that was overpriced and I should've went with cheaper motherboard...

Mind you x570 aorus master is a 2nd tier board behind the flagship at that time but now the bottom tier x670 starts at $300 range?

Any leaks on the b650 boards price range? Also what's the difference between x670 and b650 this time? I've read that the x series has 2 chipsets now like in the old days? But the b series would retain single chipset design?
I guess it's the trend nowdays with games; either you are a hardcore PC GAME, or you live long enough to see yourself become a console port

I'll add that EVGA ordered lots of chips from nV, misread the market, and got stuck with lots of inventory.

Considering they'd been in business together since ~1999, you'd think that NV would have thrown EVGA a bone and said, "hey, we'll give you guys some $$ back from the inflated costs of chips to try and alleviate selling the cards at a loss, since we've done business for two decades."

That just seems like common sense to me.. but we have to remember, that we only heard one side of this story. I have a feeling there are things we're not privy to, since NV doesn't really care, that doesn't paint EVGA as a victim.

                                                Nice.

Still curious about DDR5 speeds but AMD might finally do it this time. I'm not sure RaptorLake will provide enough uplift to make up the gap

                                                    Not soon enough.

I've been reading around looking at motherboard roundups and that sort of thing but there is still too much info unknown primarily pricing. I already know the MSI and ASUS stuff is going to be a ripoff on launch but I am hopeful Assrock or Gigabutt might have something reasonable.

Idk. MSI Unify is usually very fairly priced considering it competes with the ASUS APEX. APEX was $799 for Z690 at release iirc, Unify-X was $449-499.

At least on launch I'm not sure that model will be available. The four MSI that we've seen posted up and have pricing for are out of my acceptable range based on the options they provide. I'm trying to stay at or near 350$.

How likely are we to have some kind of bug present that requires another release 1.01 or whatever to resolve. It can happen.

In CPU-z screenshots shared by TUM_APISAK, we can see that AMD's Ryzen 9 7950X has been doing the rounds in the hands of various overclockers. The next-gen flagship was recently pushed to 5.5G by AMD's own XOC team and now we are looking at some seriously high overclocks.

As you can see in the pictures below, the AMD Ryzen 9 7950X was pushed to 7.247 GHz across 1 Zen 4 cores with a voltage of 1.506V under LN2 cooling. The CPU also achieved 6.5 GHz across all 16 Zen 4 cores with 1.465V voltage. Now, this is definitely a huge overclock and we can't wait to see what kind of performance the chip offers under LN2 cooling. For comparison, Intel's Raptor Lake flagship, the Core i9-13900K, can achieve up to 6.2-6.3 GHz with a high-end liquid cooling setup & no liquid cooling. The CPU has also been able to hit frequencies north of 8 GHz as reported here.

The risk of a defect that a BIOS update can't address is small but real with something brand new like this. If you can RMA that's fine swapping boards is a pita plus the down time involved.
