I think you're right that the 5900X and 5950X don't come with a stock cooler anymore, but in terms of cooling it shouldn't really be a huge issue. The 1800X and 2700X actually draw as much power as the 5950X in multi-threaded workloads. Granted, the smaller surface area of 7nm makes heat transfer more problematic, but then again the 5950X has two dies producing that heat vs one on the older CPUs.

that is mind boggling .. (well at least after 2nd Lawson's Triple Sunshine) .. 2x core count of x1800 and near equal draw and +1Ghz boost !!

Now just waiting for beta bios allowing 5x00 series on x370 series chipset* ..

*speaking of which..
1: Old enough to refer to as chip"set" - ie when used to have north and south bridges..
2: If x370 Mobos can theoretically have PCIe 4.0, safe to assume they would have the same capability for SAM ?

I’m just hitting 12 hours on ACV. Will see if it keeps me or not. Using ubiconnect so if I don’t keep playing I just cancel. No more new hardware to buy. I have bought every heavy in demand item, including both consoles.

5900X (sure to get it, end of november)
Motherboard TBD (looking at ASUS Prime X570-Pro... any input ? Wasn't planning to go higher than 350 $ CDN)
RAM TBD (32 GB kit, 3600 MHz) - no idea on the brand needs to fit with:
Heatsink Dark Rock Pro 4
M2 SDD Samsung 980 Pro 1 TB

Anything wrong ? I know the Dark Rock is overkill, I don't plan to overclock soon, but may one day and I want the 5900 to be as cool as possible (without going with and AIO kit).

Lol, this is what happens to me with all AC games. No matter how they improve on them the dated open world formula is what it is. Just always devolves into not so interesting busy work.

Since I'm obsessive though I end up powering through to complete them anyway. Such a waste of time.

According to Scan UK of their 2,281 pre-orders of 5xxx CPU's they've managed to ship 4.38% Apparently they've been promised a further 10% but unfortunately they appear to be lost in transit. I suppose Frank Azore would say that's a ton of products sold
