KAC like most of us have said keep your current rig and chill till AM5 launches late 2021 early 2022

That is absolutely not true. I am playing Watch Dogs and COD on PC.
Only Ass Creed on the box.
Spider-Man on PS5 from 19th onwards.
Only one I am confused about is Cyberpunk 2077.
So yes, there is merit to building a PC right now as I will be playing bulk of my non RPG library on it. Plus my kid plays CS and MW daily also on it.
As I said I am still contemplating all of this. I can build a PC today with a 5600X/5800X at a reasonable price but unfortunately that is not what I want right now. So am a bit of in a pickle to wait or drop the idea or do something else like buy a new monitor etc.
Just looking at Scan in the UK and they haven't shipped any 5900/5950 CPU's at all so that can be called a bone fide 'paper launch'. They have 2,030 on preorder so looks like they had no stock at launch.
They haven't shipped any 5800's but are expecting 40 in but they've been delayed. Just over 300 preorders for them. They've managed to ship 30 5600's so it can't technically be called a 'paper launch'.
They have 2,577 on preorder and all AMD could provide was 30 CPU's. This is not a demand shortage it's a supply problem. AMD needs to admit the fact and not try to hide behind the same BS that Nvidia have used. I'm sure we'll see the same with the launch of the 6800's with virtually none available to buy on the day. The only glimmer of light is they haven't started a 6800 delay page yet but they have for the PS5 and that launches on the 19th in the UK
**** it. I am picking up 5800x, tomahawk and some ram tomorrow. All benches I saw I match them with my 8086K but I want the side grade today.
I know you don't do common sense but buying Zen 3 at the moment doesn't make sense on many levels. Firstly it's availabilty is very mute and if you can get one you're paying scalper prices. Secondly, in the UK, the 5800/5600 are way overpriced compared to their Chipzilla counterparts. The 5800 is listed at £450 with no stock and the equivelent i7 10700K is only £350. You can also pick up an i9 10850K for £440 with 2 extra cores and there's loads of stock of the Intel chips. Remember none of these come with a cooler. The 5600 is £300 whereas the i5 10600K is just £240. Granted the 5600 comes with a cooler but it's still more expensive.
It's looks like AMD's idea of pricing Zen 3 £50 higher than their replacements could be a serious misstep. Hopefully they realise this and make the appropriate pricing adjustment as chips become more available. If you're one of the 80% who have a Chipziller CPU and looking to buy there is zero sensible reason to choose Zen 3 at the moment. Virtually every review I've read of Zen 3 has been positive dont't get me wrong but they all commented that the price is the big downside for them to truely recommend it.
Most PC builders aren't like you KAC and those prices and availabilty are going to hurt AMD badly until they increase supply and reduce the price. Luckily it's in their own remit to do both.
I am paying retail prices plus local VAT. So at least scalper pricing point is moot.
I also don’t see pricing go down anytime before end of Q1 of next year at the earliest (most likely April since Intel will slip a month or two launching RKL). By that time the 50 extra I am paying today should be OK. The only scalper pricing is 5900X which anyways I wasn’t willing to pay. I also don’t want another 6 core CPU so I am left with either picking up a 10850K or a 5800X of which I am choosing 5800X.

**** man. All benches are showing games running slower than my current setup. Wtf lol.
It's almost like multiple people told you this was a waste of time.
Really though, are you gonna make 12 posts going back and forth on this, and then 10 more posts when it turns out to be a side-grade just like we all told you? It gets old man ..

Just read about that... not sure that Intel's 8 core maximum will compete in the desktop segment with Ryzen 5000... though the post was mainly sarcastic and not meant to be factual.

Leaked results suggest that Rocket Lake will be competitive with Ryzen 5000, but it remains to be seen if Intel's upcoming IPC improvements will be enough to re-take the performance crown.

I am pretty sure they will push the cpu to beat Ryzen 5 series even marginal..The price for this will be only 8 core and very hot chip.

I wouldn't be so sure. The IPC increase due to back-porting Cascade (?) Lake 10nn chips to 14nm is great, but it remains to be seen if the clock speeds will still be in the 5Ghz range. If they aren't, I don't think it'll be all that impressive.
