So I got my 2nd gtx480. I have the weirdest looking pc ever right now

Okay flipped the fan to be exhaust from a suggestion on OCN. Now I have 66-68c load temp on both cards instead of one being 73-74 and the other 64ish. Also added another front intake

Exhaust is good. Its makes sence. Taking the air away on its natural course.
Blowing on seems wrong. Unless the air from the blower is compeletly cool.
Oh i just plugged everything in to test and see if it would work fine. I'll rewire soon.

Since I didn't get my new vid card with the other parts I had to install my old 4870
Ooh, new card arrived
Very minimalist package, but I like it. At first I thought the card doesn't have the bios switch since it didn't have a reference cooler and it was the red PCB not brown. But luckily it has.
And the finished product.
I bet some of you are asking why my PSU is upside down. Apparently it's meant to be mounted on the bottom, but my old case doesn't support that.
Already oc'd my 2500k to 4,5ghz. Now to flash the bios of my 6950 and I'm all set.
650D Upgrade-rebuild started 7PM, finished 12:30am. No problem but testing many fan combinations took ages as did cable tidying
Quite happy with the upgrade, just got to replace the 200mm intake as the stock one is too noisy even on low. Tomorrow that will be sorted
Anybody makes a diss at the brown fans gets a slap
Famous last words man I said that once and soon turned into months!
Great pics, thinking about the 650D for my next build. Curious what fan config you ended up with, and what are your system specs? Is that an ND-14 CPU heatsink?

Grats on the new hardware. However, I couldn't help but think the entire time, where is this man's desk.

Hey,
I've ended up keeping the Corsair fan at the top as that's silent, rear exhaust is via the 2x 120mm on the H80 heatsink and the front intake is a CoolerMaster MegaFlow 200mm which arrived today. It too is silent but I have it connected to a Zalman FanMate 2 just lowered the rpm a tiny bit for ultimate silence:
Specs:
i5 2500k @ 4.3GHz
8GB DDR3
Asus GTX460 1GB Top OC Edition
MSI-P67A-G45-B3 mobo
3x SATA II
Asus Xonar Essence STX soundcard
Corsair HX750 PSU
Anyways, it seems I'm **** out of luck regarding the unlocking of my 6950. It has the dual BIOS switch, but none of the methods of unlocking the shaders work.

Your card doesnt look like a reference card, I dont know why you thought it would be unlockable. Should of did a little more research. I think one MSI is unlockable although its not reference. My 6950 has the bios switch as well but isnt unlockable.

Get a new case, that one is an eyesore
I did the research. When I bought it from amazon it had the ref card on the pic.
fyi, use the product number to check on the manufacturer website what the actual model is. amazon and other aggregate selling sites don't use actual pics, just stock pics.

Did you use the latest Radeon Bios Editor?

I have not, I will wait for other people to try it on their cards before I try it on mine. I have read stories over at HOCP that people havent been able to di it on my particular card.

What method have you tried?
RBE should work, the only cards that I hear don't work are the XFX models and maybe a couple others without the dual bios switch that need a hard mod to get around the write protected bios.

Pulled my orig bios from the card with RBE.
Edited the bios and set the shaders to 6970 option.
Saved the BIOS and flashed the card.
Shut down the computer, disconnected the cable, waited 30 sec.
Turned it back on and GPU-Z still showed 1408 shaders not 1536 or whatever amount the 6970 has.
But if I pull the edited bios from my card it shows the shaders as 6970 amount.
I'm getting ready to pull my x58 mobo out and replace it with my rma'ed (returned) series 6 mobo. Still need to buy the i7 2600k proc and some memory before I finish the project. Will post pics when they become available.
First of all let me say thank you to everyone who posts pics of their computer. This is one of my favorite topics in this forum and I visit it almost daily. That being said, I kinda feel bad that I've never posted any of my rigs on here.
I was doing some wire management yesterday and thought it would be a good time to take some pics. So here they are.
The new one is the one on the top. As you can see they made some modifications. They added support to prevent the PCB from bending and I also noticed some extra heatsinks under the main cooler, they are probably covering the VRMs. The end result is that the top card will sometimes be as much as 7°C cooler when under load and that's despite having my soundcard right on top of it. The temps on the bottom card have barely increased, if at all, probably because the top card is sucking all the heat away from it.
I was afraid my temps would go out of control by going SLI, but it looks like I got lucky.
Anyone getting a bug with Reva4jay being the last post, while it's invisible ? As if it was a spam bot, but the last post still points to his.
Maybe by posting, I'll have erased that pointer...
