Exotic your purchases make no sense to mankind. First you downgraded step by step gpu wise and now tri sli 480s for 1 23inch monitor. Too comical
must play metro 2033 maxed out! but still averaging 60 fps on 1080p to get the eye candy. not to mention crysis 2 i unno bout 5870's but i know 480's will be faster. gawd 5870's are aweful when it cums to tesselations and ray tracing! glad i sold my 3 5870's.

If 3 fans left the station at 10:30am cooling at a temp of 63c and one fan was derailed by a stray sata cable on the track, how long would it take all 3 fans to get on Seyiji's last nerve?
(a) Mmmm donuts
(b) 70c
(c) Hey there muscly arms, why the long face?
(d) Must use fire.
Nice setup! But what will you do with an old monitor that sitting on the floor?
You got a sharp eye! At first I wanted to make dual monitor but I ditched the idea because lack of space so I'll use it with my laptop at my dorm because 14" is too small for browsing

Hi - What temps are you getting with those three puppies while loaded? I had to space mine (eliminating the third slot) to keep the temp of the card on top within acceptable lvls. Likewise, keeps me from adding one of my spare 280's as a dedicated phyx card . I would certainly entertain the notion of adding a third 480 to the mix if I could overcome my thermal issues.

The First card 62 its gets to 84 to 87 max on load
Second Card on the middle is around 63 and 90 max on load
Third Card is at 53 idle and 79 on load this one is is the coolest one. i was measureing the load temps using precision on my lil lcd screen on my keyboard
Impressive PC.. the computer station looks very cramped, though.
I find it kind of funny when I see people spending thousands upon thousands of dollars on their computer hardware, but then use a $20 office chair and petite desk.

Those load temps make me nervous. I'm running both a pair of 5870's and 480's in an 8/16 pci-e slot config to avoid high temps. Anyhoo, nice looking rig for sure. Any specific reason you chose that monitor with the horsepower those gpu's are pushing (I'm just curious )?

My main desk is still at the old apartment i will prolly take it out there at the end of the month that thing is huge lol. And that chair is leather cost me almost hundred bucks in staples.
Nah its only 60 HZH. I had the 120HZH alienware optx aw2310. But i sold it on ebay couple months ago before i moved in into ma new house. but led vs lcd the pic quality is what im looking for. picture quality wise the samsung led beats my optx aw2310 but speed wise alienware optx is faster. even At 60 HZH is still fast im impress wit this monitor.

thanks! 23-inch is big enough to me since i sit close to the monitor now if i want somethin bigger i can just bring it up to my room upstairs and plug it in on the 50 inch panasonic G20 600 hzh plasma.
and I hear ya, I also have a Samsung 23"1920x1080 LED with my Tri 5850 set up, people always say to me "you just need a decent resolution now" but no thats the way I like it, I get uber performance and eye candy in every game on the market
standard full HD is fine for me and 23" is a good size for online FPS. I use a 1080p 50" for single player games too

im wit u bro! having too big of a monitor sitting 4 to 5 inches away from ur eyes is not good lol u get dizzy overtime.
I understand about turning eye candy on vs. resolution. But at 1080p even with all the eye candy on, triple GPUs is just an exercise in frivolous spending.
Edit: Now I will say this. It's your money to spend how you wish. And if you enjoy spending it in such ways, by all means do so. What bugs me is the extra potential it's capable of that is going to waste.

Seriously its just perfect at 1080p, Crysis locked at 60fps vsync with 12xSSAA, Metro 2033 just makes 60fps vsync 95% of the time at max settings, BC2 and other online FPS maintain 120+ fps which is great for competitive gaming etc. Dont have to compromise with anything, every setting maxed in every game at 60+ fps in 1080p is sweet. Nothing is going to waste, the GPU power gets fully used at 1080p. BTW, nothing wrong with full HD the only thing I need now is a 1080p 120hz LED monitor.
besides I got these 3 5850's for cheaper than a pair of 5870's or GTX480's and more performance to boot

Your case is a little different. You aren't using 3 flagship cards with flagship prices. Each of your cards is ~$300. So even at 3 of them you are still below the cost of 2 GTX480s and about the same as 2 5870s. So if you can get more performance out of your 3 vs. the others in 2, then it makes sense to me.
However, I've owned 2x5870 and currently 2xGTX480. So I've witnessed first hand what they are capable of, not only at 1080p, but 3x1080p also. 3 GTX480s is going to cost around ~$1500. So for that price knowing how capable 2 GTX480s are at triple 1080p, I can't help feeling that despite any amount of eye candy you set a game at, there is still going to be un-utilized potential available.
Of course there's Physx and GPU computing that can occur during some games. And there's always the reason to have extra potential for unknown future games that could tax the system more. But I can't help feeling that ExoTic isn't going to keep these cards for the long haul judging from my interpretation of himself. Of course I could be wrong. I don't know him personally.
Like I was saying though, if his only reason for having 3 cards is that he likes having 3 cards, I won't hold him at fault. It's his money (unless he stole it ).
My only reason in stating the need for higher resolution, either through a larger monitor, or through multiple displays, is that I've experienced it first hand and deem it enjoyable and would recommend it to anyone who could afford it and appreciate it. So when I see the potential in his hardware to accomplish it, and a willingness to spend on high end hardware, I can't help advising someone towards that recommendation.

I wouldnt call it a waste of money (Im not saying you said that) but more like adding a longer lifespan to his setup. I find with my SLI system most games can run at a constant 60fps vsynced with atleast 8xaa and about 40-60fps vsynced with one gpu with the same settings.
His system should guarantee him 3 years without having to constantly upgrade the gpu. True in 18-24 months from now there will be gpus that will give equal or better performance on one gpu processor board and use less power, but the benefits outweigh the costs. If I had the cash I would probably buy three next-gen gpus over a single one to guarantee me 2-3 years of unsurpassed performance.

u right! these cards will be on ebay in less than a year lols! ma next upgrade is gtx 580 or whatever comes out next from nvidia. i know i aint upgrading to 6800 series radeon.

well yeh I would have thought 3 x GTX480 is overkill but for all I know exotic is a competitive gamer and wants 200 fps solid in BC2, 250 in CoD series etc. even if he isnt that system would sure be a joy to use.
btw you know there are a few games you can run in higher res and downscale to 1080p for SSAA, like ArmA2 & OA I run in 3840x2160.

there is no chance in hell I would use gtx480 sli on triple 1080p, just wouldnt cut it performance wise for me
Tri sli on 1080p is wayyy overkill but hey if you got the money why not, enjoy

I only got 480 SLI and that guarantees me 60 fps all the time in BFBC2 @ maxed settings with 8xAA @ 2560x1600, Mafia 2 can be played with apex on high maxed settings with cloth tweak, and no AA @ 60 fps all the time ( even with physX heavy scenes), Metro 2033 very high, dof off can be played @ 60 fps 75% of the time with drops to 50's @ 2560x1600, I'm pretty much guaranteed maxed settings @ 2560x1600 @ 60 fps with 99% of the games out there. TRI SLI could definitely power a 2560x1600 Monitor and still allow for maximum settings in every single game with 60 fps all the time. yea I agree the power of this setup is getting wasted.
