Actually...yes.
I game with the lights off, I feel it increases the feeling of immersion. It's the same thing as trying to watch a movie with every light on in the entire place...drives me freakin' insane. Only lights are the blue LED's from my case, the blue volume knob on my speaker, and the blue lighted keys on my keyboard.

f.y.i peacekeeper, your zalman is facing the wrong way, lol.
90 degrees counter clockwise is where i have mine.
LoL I didnt notice that at first either.. it is made to go either way but I'd try and stay away from pulling hot air from the vid card through my CPU cooler..

I always sit in the dark. Actually I just wanted to show the lights on the keyboard and case.

I know , but I'm kinda stuck with it that way as the AM2+ socket heat sink retention brackets are rotated 90 degrees.
Same with my Cooltek Auras92 as seen on P61. No idea why AMD decided to do that... Some newer heatsinks allow you to mount them as intended even on AM2 boards but most older ones and even some newer ones have to face up or down instead.
Doesn't seem to make a huge difference in my case, though. The heat goes out via the PSU fan and the upper of the two 80mm exhaust fans. I also set the side-panel fan to exhaust instead of intake which lowered CPU temp another 3C - 4C and brought the chipset temp down from 45C to 41C.

Well, I'm getting a different heat sink, because I'm running way too hot right now and that is even at stock speeds when Prime95 is on. In addition, the Zalman sounds like a jet engine at max speed. In addition, I'm also sure I have applied ceramique correctly twice now. I'm not exactly enjoying the fact that I have to take the side of my case off when doing these stability tests. I will post a couple more pics when the change occurs.

Yeah it all depends on the case airflow and the position of the fans. I guess I was lucky because of the position of my PSU, the upper 80mm exhaust fan and the side panel fan which is located just where the hot air exits the CPU heatsink.
I still don't get it why AMD decided to rotate the retention brackets, though.

Got the EEE PC 904HD last week, was 309€ here in Finland. Battery lasts for about 4 hours when watching videos and surfing around in Internet. I wanted HDD and decent battery for cheap price so I had to get the 904HD and those features came with price of portability. Acer Aspire One is a bit more expensive here in Finland but has only 3-cell battery.
The one thing I don't like about the EeePC (apart from the name) is the hinges. I wish they were less prominent and I also wish the screen didn't have that huge black border/bezel around it. The way they look now, they remind me of a "Toy PC" I had as a kid (with lots of little games in it and a synthesized voice).
Since my huge, heavy old 1.6 GHz/14" laptop died recently, I'll probably pick up some kind of netbook eventually. I'm holding out for a little longer though because it seems competition is heating up which will hopefully results in lower prices and more choices.

Only EEE PC 904HD, 904HA and the older 700 series have these bezels around the monitor. The 900, 901 and 1000 series don't have the bezel. The hinge is big because the middle part of it is actually part of the battery.
Had the Caveboy Sr's rig open today, swapping his X2 4000+ for my HTPC's X2 5000+ BE - better use of the horsepower, in both cases. Pics taken with my naff LG Venus phone cam.
Caveboy Sr's Rig:
Foxxcon AM2 nForce 570SLI / X2 5000+ BE 2.6Ghz @ stock for now with HyperTX2 HSF/ 3Gb DDR2-667 Value Ram 5-5-5-15 / SLI XFX 8800GS 384Mb using Forceware 180.42 drivers / LiteON IDE DVD-RW / Raid 1 Seagate 7200.10 250Gb / Vista Ultimate x32 / CM Mystique Case / CoolerMaster RealPower 650W SLI PSU
Quick Everest memory bench:
HTPC:
MSI mATX Geforce 8200 mobo / Windsor X2 4000+ 2Ghz 1Mb L2 cache per core with Artic Cooler Freezer64 low profile connected via Zalman fan controller / Seagate Momentus 120GB SATA 2.5" HD / 1Gb DDR2-667 RAM / 2Gb ReadyBoost / LiteOn DVD-RW / Aspire Q-pack HTPC case w/OEM 420W PSU / Vista Ultimate x32 / Media Center TV Pack
I connect this to my Samsung 37" LCD TV via DVI-HDMI adapter, sound is from onboard analogue HD audio stereo out to the surround system. The onboard fan control doesn't work well with the CPU fan, ran it at max speed 3300rpm always, no matter the CPU temp or speed settings. Using the Zalman fan speed adapter, I dropped it down to 1200rpm and its now silent with nice cool temps still - using MSI's monitoring utility with Cool'n'Quiet enabled it idles @ 1ghz and 38C, and can dynamically overclock the FSB a couple hundred Mhz to give a performance boost @ 2.2ghz (2.0ghz stock speed) without any interaction.
not bad caveman. I am slowly moving out of the year 2004 with my hardware. ;-p
Changes since last pic post-
-Removed ALL IDE drives. Everything is SATA including the CD/DVD/HDDVD Optical Drives.
-Replaced the HD2600XT and the X1800GTO with the HD4850, which does 700Mhz+ on the core and 1.1Ghz on the memory w/o Volt Mods.
-Finally hid 90% of the unused PSU cables.

Caveman, that A64 X2 5000+ BE must be bottlenecking the video cards like hell. My parents PC has A64 X2 5000+ BE and it bottlenecks even the lowly GF8800GTS 320MB in some games (ET:Quake Wars for example).
Had to get my own damn TV after the wife took over our 52" Samsung 1080P LCD with reality tv shows and garbage. It's a 37" Toshiba 1080P LCD. Really good decision to get it too...going to hook it up to my PC, can play my 360/PS3 whenever I want, and watch DVD/BluRay/HD-DVD when I want without having to argue with her for TV rights.

He games at 1440x900 and almost exclusively plays WoW at the moment, so I'm not particularly bothered about it; just means he can crank up the quality and use the SLI setup for PhysX in UT3 when he does play it.
It's still better than the an X2 4000+ in there before, and the recent article on CPU bound systems showed an X2 4000+ can still deliver 58fps in UT3 @ 1080 res... I think it's got the beans for the desired usage. Besides, what options are there? A higher clocked X2 would be a lot of money, which I don't have, and it's a Black Edition so a little OC'ing might net me 3ghz, possibly 3.2 which negates any reason for buying a new proc. The nForce 570SLI chipset is supposedly compatible with Phenom but there needs to be a BIOS update to support it, and it's been nearly 2 years since the last BIOS release. So, now we're talking a whole mobo/proc upgrade, to get rid of a possible CPU bottleneck for two 8800GS'... seems like way too much effort and money to invest. I think its a well balanced system - it certainly plays well for the money. Mobo was $40, CPU was $75, 8800GS's were $80 and $60... bang/buck is immense IMO (which is all that counts, cos its my wallet and my family )
Next comp I buy for him will be a laptop for when he's at college, doubt it'll be a gaming laptop.
But seriously, its just a $2 kitchen utensil I picked up rather than the $30 a monitor riser would cost. My next LCD will have a HAS.....Samsung's 2443BW is lookin good and for just over $300, I might give myself an early Xmas present.
Ok, now that I told ya, be prepared for that knock on your door.

Might stick a multi-card reader in the top, and probally will color the edges of the dvd drive, one problem I have is that the HDD led will not work no matter what.

My backup (see sig) is running the A64 X2 4200+ with a 8800gtx. Although I also do the 14440x900 at 75 Hertz, I get really good performance. Guess I could throw my backup mobo 680i and my older e6700 c2d into the case .
