I think next year I'll sell this 38" and grab an OLED. I'm just hoping they'll make something around 36-42", and I'll wall-mount it.
Exactly what I've been waiting for too. I've been thinking about taking mine back and trading for a CX 48", but using OLED for a PC monitor still makes me nervous and I'd think the automatic brightness limiter would make me rage.

Yeah, the ABL is a real downer for me. I will say, the only game I've noticed it in is NHL on my PS4, and that game is obviously very bright since the majority of the screen is white (ice). I've never noticed it in anything like Red Dead Redemption 2 or God of War.
I still don't like the burn-in potential, but maybe I'll take the risk next year.

Once I experienced some games on this OLED, burn-in potential took a back seat. I took all the precautions to limit any burn-in, deleted all desk top icons, running full screen mode when browsing, etc. Plus these newer OLED's have a bunch of features built in to prevent any burn in issues. Pixel Refresher, Logo Luminance and Screen Shift settings. A lot of people online have said they been gaming on OLEDs for years with zero burn-in. You just have to watch what you're doing. Obviously don't pull up a website and then leave for 8 hours.
You will never convince me in a million years to go back to standard LED backlit monitors after seeing this OLED.This is the pinnacle of gaming in my opinion. Horizon Zero Dawn in 4K HDR is just
I imagine we're all in for a treat with Cyberpunk. I'm just glad I have the display and video card now to play it properly.

Do it, you won't regret it. OLED picture quality takes the crown. Period. Nothing compares to this in my opinion.
We have the video cards now also to fully take advantage of these type displays (Gsync 120hz). Gaming on this CX48 is just ridiculously amazing.
Also, the automatic brightness limiter or whatever that is, I haven't noticed anything with that. Unless that's a setting I don't have turned on? I don't know. I haven't noticed it though if it's there.

I find that really hard to believe. It probably just doesn't bother you. I could see if not being a huge deal in watching content/gaming and probably not actually happening, but what about on a desktop environment? Bringing up web pages with a lot of white all the time and thing constantly dimming would drive me insane. My monitor has a power saving feature and it was doing exactly that when I bought it. I was starting to rage until that was found to be the issue.

I just bought a BX55 to play PS5 games on, and I agree with him, I actually thought maybe their was a FW that fixed the ABL issues, because I could not tell a difference. The only way I was finally able to tell a difference was physically with a test designed to show it, and I still can't tell afterwords. I've since logged 12hrs of FF7, 3 hours of Spider man, and 3 hours of KH3, couple two 3 movies in there aswell. Nothing has shown it to me during any of that. Maybe I just can't tell. I think it's just more apparent to desktop use.

Yeah, I have a buddy with an LG B9 that was super annoying. I didn't notice it in the games he showed me at the time (Witcher 3, Rise of Tomb Raider, etc), but it was blatantly obvious and super annoying during desktop use. I couldn't stand it.
Maybe they improved it with the X model.

Okay, I just checked. I do not see a setting for ABL. If there is one, I'm missing it. I have noticed it a couple times now. The screen will only dim if you're running a windows tab on full screen mode, not when minimized to a windowed screen. And also, only on pages that are pure white. It's strange. Darker web pages, etc. are fine. To be honest, I never really noticed it until you mentioned it

Awesome, thanks for checking. I'm not too worried about it for movies/games, but I had also considered taking my LG 38" monitor back and getting a 48" CX. If I did that, I would probably run 2 or 3 chrome browsers open (windowed so I'm not craning my head around) at a time. Wonder if that would be enough to kick it on and off. Tempting.

ABL for sure does not activate or happen in games, movies, etc. I can verify that. Even watching Youtube I have never seen the screen dim at all. On a pure white webpage screen, I actually do not mind the screen dimming a tad (if it's doing it), because this thing is so damn bright lol.
I can say this...the couple little nit picks with this display like the ABL feature and any "potential" burn in are 100% worth dealing with after seeing this thing in person on a gaming rig. It is amazing. Like I said earlier, any burn in issues, mentally took a back seat for me. I've taken all the required precautions needed to limit burn in, and now I'm just sitting back and enjoying this amazing display.
If you do end up getting one, watch some of the 8K HDR videos on Youtube from Eugene Belsky. My god, it about made my jaw fall on the floor. Beautiful.
Honestly if the screen doesn’t dim you will probably ruin your eyes with the amount of light coming on your face. The monitor is just too big to sit so close. Heck on the 32 inch with 600 nits of brightness I feel my eyes will burn.

Thanks. I already do a lot of the things to prevent burn in already. I've used a black desktop for years and usually minimize web pages when I'm away. I don't use a screensaver though, so maybe I'll turn that on in case I forget to do that. However, when just surfing the web with 3 browsers up, obviously some of them have content that could be up for hours.
But anyway, for now I'll table the OLED talk to not derail the thread much longer. Maybe I'll grab one this weekend and plop it on the desk and try it out. Can always return it if I'm not happy. Thanks again for the feedback!

KAC, what’s with the trimmed like photos? Have you got statues of Ganesha all around your PC? No one cares. Do a full zoom out photo of your setup like I do.
