Finally got everything set up, went for the Anti-RGB, happy with how it looks. Left drawer is a little messed up, got wrekt in shipping, but on the bright side, I ended up getting a $600 desk for free

It's a plain white R5. I can see how it doesn't appeal to everyone. Probably needs some rgb, some crazy sharp angles, a window to see even more rgb, and some name like Gamer-X RGB Elite Edition.

Desk is ugly IMO but everything else is nice. Everything is modern and fits but the desk. You got the clean white Orbi, the clean white case, and even the clean white wire hiding box(forgot the name of it I was going to get one) and then you have this ugly desk that doesnt fit in with the modern theme of everything else.

Yeah I really struggled to find a computer that doesn't look modern.... I was thinking about making one out of drift wood with jebediah helping me out, but he had a barn raising to go to...

Honestly I think what makes it ugly is the green/grey/beige painted legs. If they were white or something less weird looking it would probably fit well.

Old. This is 4 years old Lancool Dragonlord K62. I was supposed to install push/pull fans setup, but only two pull fans on top and H110i is inside. So I wanted to have push/pull fans. Two 140mm Noctua push fans inside, H110i w/ 140mm Corsair pull fans on top.l I don't want to spend a new case....so here...what I did to this case...



With H110i installed.



Modded....but I forgot to take another pic that I had to cut a bit for two hoses of H110i....but anyways...





Make room for 8-pins CPU power cable (Yes, I know it's not perfect but still)




Installed new 140mm fan grills



Rebuilt with improved cable management....a final look and also a new psu too.



I still need to upgrade to Ryzen though...

Ok I didn't want to say it but that desk is ugly as sin. Also the white computer looks like a nun. It is just crap case. Nothing about RGB and all that crap but at least the color scheme should match.

The ghetto case mod is dope though. I love it.

I actually kind of like the contrast. It's not something I would do, but I can see something sort of...artistic(?) about having a modern/futuristic white case with a retro desk. I feel like it's something out of a sci-fi movie of the distant future where everything is all futuristic and then there's some out of place retro objects because it's considered cool at that time.

Like I said, it's not something I would do, but I don't hate it.

What's the thing under the desk? Is it a foot rest?

Just a box you put a power strip in to cover all the cords. Keeps me from kicking them, and imo looks better than a ton of cords.

nycdarkness, all I can think is that red water coloring would make any amazing Hawaiian Punch themed build. Stores throw away promotional vinyl wrap posters all the time for food products like that. Have some on my a10 build advertising beer. Great fit on a full tower side panel and major man cave points.

My solution to the cooler clearance issue with the 200mm fan was to remove the decorative mesh and strap the fan outside the case blowing in. A week later I got in some clear LED 200mm cooler master. I was expecting them to be the exact same design, but the bevels are much more minimal and easily allow the pannel closed with my XIGMATEK Dark Knight II. I kept the stock fan outside, but not after I put another blue 200mm under it. 3 of them on there. Planning to stretch some speaker grill fabric over them for looks and filter, maybe an 8" speaker grill.


Cut out ALL of the honeycomb exhaust fan grills. Rarely have I made such a great decision. Inspired me to cut the metal grills on the drive cages, and strap an extra fan on the back of each. Really nice, my hottest drives are ultrastar and dropped from 48c to 36c full load. Noise is nothing but the maddening screech of 10 sata drives. Temps on gpu, vrm, core, raid, nb all read below ambient idle, and most load. Sensors must not be very accurate, but do not want to complain too much.


I need to try plugging up the back vent by the pci slots like digital demon

Just put back my good ol' cathode tube with new ceramic disc magnetic w/ double sided adhesive. So it holds up well. And yes, I know...I should clean the dirty window side.

EDIT: Also, my PC standing is on the way next week...so it will be lifted up a few inches away from carpet flooring.

There is a 2007 review with thermal probes saying they bring down memory temps by 15c. Some say ddr3 at any clock or voltage isn't enough heat to penetrate any TIM and they run coolest naked. I'll try touching them when doing ram stuff. Never regretted using thermalright in the past.

That is a sticker. Did not like the zalman logo, liked that the cnps11x box said qmax=350w.

The CPU is the fx-9590.
Hope the fatal1ty can handle it as advertised. I have removed the stock heatsinks to replace pads with paste. They are attached in a way to leave a gap for the pad so I had to RTV silicone the edges. I have stacked another vrm cooler on the flat surface of the original and taped sinks on the back. The case allows for a fan behind the socket and vrm as well.

Haven't even made a final decision of what video card to use. Just excited about the ram cooler monstrosity. Incompatible with lots CPU coolers, thought they were going to sit in a junk droor forever.
