And yes, the plugging the cables into the psu is a royal pain in the ass. I might make a little access door for the psu though.

I see, but if i'm looking at the picture right, it leaves room for maybe 3 drives at most, unless they're SSD's of course.

Nice re-modeling Roadhog! Good job!
Where does the power cable go now that the PSU is moved?

Looks good! Gives me an idea, I think stainless steel braided hose or similar would look nice, although, perhaps a little dangerous.CROSSHAIR X670E HERO / R9 7950X3D / RTX 4090 GAMING OC / TRIDENT Z5 NEO RGB 6000 CL30 / SAMSUNG 980pro 1TB / 2x SAMSUNG 980 1TB / H150i ELITE LCD / ATH-A2000Z / HX1200 / AW3821DW 38" / LG C2 OLED evo 55" / Enthoo 719 / K70 MKII + Zowie S2 / K57 + Harpoon / Xbox Series X Controller / REVERB G2 V2

What clamps are you using? They look better than the standard worm drive clamps. Do they work as well?

My server received a storage upgrade yesterday.
Building the array will take a few days. I'm also verifying the first array at the same time. Since RAID 6 worked so nicely the first time, a went with RAID 6 again.

Friend of mine made the same mistake with 6970's, they were not fine unfortunately
Rule of thumb; if you are not going water, buy reference cards for SLI/CFX.CROSSHAIR X670E HERO / R9 7950X3D / RTX 4090 GAMING OC / TRIDENT Z5 NEO RGB 6000 CL30 / SAMSUNG 980pro 1TB / 2x SAMSUNG 980 1TB / H150i ELITE LCD / ATH-A2000Z / HX1200 / AW3821DW 38" / LG C2 OLED evo 55" / Enthoo 719 / K70 MKII + Zowie S2 / K57 + Harpoon / Xbox Series X Controller / REVERB G2 V2

I was shocked to find out how bad those style coolers are with even a single space in between them. On the other hand it doesn't seem to make much of a difference with reference blower coolers.Originally posted by ManglerGood work guys, we can't have too many positive posts in a row on this forum.

I have a second Gigabyte 670 wind-force coming today. Hope they don't get too hot when I add the second card. Right now with just the single card in, it idles at 30C, and I haven't seen it hit 60C yet.
Edit: Idle temps are great. Top card only went up 1C, so I guess it depends on your board with these non-ref coolers. My cards are almost an inch apart on this ASUS.Last edited by Greasy; Nov 28, 2012, 02:11 PM.

Plus, everything is downclocked or on power saving mode. Back then, those components were some of the most efficient ones. And the CPU is usually idling anyway.
The RAID controller handles all redundancy calculations, which are quite demanding for RAID 6. Therefore, I invested a bit of money to get proper entry-level storage equipment instead of CPU/RAM/Motherboard hardware I won't use.Gaming PC Intel Core i7 980X Extreme Edition 4.0GHz # ASUS Rampage III Extreme # 6GB DDR3 1600MHz # Zotac GTX 680 4GB SLI # Intel X25-M G2 160GB # 4TB HDDs, 6.75TB eSATA # Silverstone TJ10

For modern NAS running 1GbE and housing 2-4 disks, an ARM or Atom with 2GB memory is usually sufficient for stripe or mirror modes (RAID 0/1/10).
