I might buy one some day, if I have time and $$ to burn. Everyone says it's great.. I'm still skeptical about going back to wired VR, but I'd love to try out those wide-fov OLEDs.

So, who's buying PSVR2 ? I got my pre-order (the Horizon: Call of the Mountain bundle) as soon as it went up. I just preorderd Moss book 2 (first one was awesome, would've liked to buy the bundle remake but I was already buying...) Kayak VR Mirage and Resident Evil Village. I figured, that's enough for the start I still have my vr1 hooked up for Beat Saber and the boatload of games I got for it. Might sell it later with the PS4 depending on the games coming up to the 2... Beat Saber, I don't get why it's not a day 1 availability...

It sure did suck trying to buy one for retail price. But it wasn’t impossible. But a LOT of things went sideways back then. Trying to buy a new car is still insane now. Dealers are gouging consumers now that the pent up demand is flowing. It’s all ebb and flow of market pressures. I do agree that just throwing blame in one direction is a bit of a lazy way to look at these problems. But, hey, I do support the “You be you” thing. So everyone has a right to their opinion.

In contrast to the "chip shortage" narrative, we've heard both Sony & MS suggest that this is their FASTEST SELLING GENERATION EVER. Both companies have done a very solid job of keeping their console production going.

The shortages were entirely about demand, not supply. Combine people staying at home during the pandemic, plus pent-up demand for new consoles after the previous generation being long, plus people having extra cash from restaurants being closed, and you have a perfect storm for unprecedented demand for game consoles.

So complaints about production must be focused on game releases, especially exclusives. I think these complaints are largely explained by:
    • The (wise) strategic decision to have new games continue to support last-gen consoles.
    • A loss of collaboration/efficiency from game devs working from home during the pandemic.
    • Waiting for next-gen engine technology to be ready (UE5)
    • Changes in workflow processes as we switch to next-gen engine technology (UE5)
    • AAA game development budgets have ballooned to unsustainable levels... So studios much choose fewer big-bets. This phenomenon has been happening for decades, but is more true than ever now. This will inevitably translate into fewer AAA releases.

Yeah, what fiasco? Sony build and sold 30 million units despite all the supply chain headwinds. Do you think that was their incompetence? I am sure they would have much preferred to build more and sell more. Retailers that didn’t curtail scalpers are the bigger issue. Sony did their part with their controlled lottery system. The retailers that didn’t give a crap who they sold them to were the ones that screwed us over.

I think everybody faced the chip shortage so can't only blame PS5 for it. We did go through a pandemic and Chinese are just opening up. Seems they didn't get the memo for past 1.5 years.

i have no problem with playstation itself, just with the fiasko they called PS5

as i've said before, there's simply no one left who would even care about getting one right now. They totally destroyed their own sales with this one. The almost non-existant gaming-catalogue did its part on that too.

In Dubai you could've bought a PS5 at the local store at least since May of 2022. Not sure why there are shortages. It's not like the system has any games...

    The PS5 shortage is over!

    https://megagames.com/news/playstati...according-sony

Speaking at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023, Sony Interactive President Jim Ryan, said “everyone who wants a PS5 should have a much easier time finding one at retailers globally, starting from this point forward.”
Now if we could just get raspberry pi's in stock!

Sounds like Sony's getting ready to replace the disk & diskless SKUs with a single modular option. Great idea, imo. Hopefully ms & nintendo will follow... my switch needs a modular bluray drive!!!

I think its a polarizing game. I know just as many people who didn't like as I do that liked it. I think its got good production value, as all Naughty Dog games tend to but the game itself is just not that great. Standard console action game that got more attention than it deserved. I also didn't really care for it.

Nostalgia hype bit me bad with Demon’s Souls, and it’s been in the back of my mind with this one.
