Does Navi2 support some form of deep learning upscaling?

The console versions don't have dedicated cores (like Tensor) for machine learning, but at least in the Series X there's hardware support for INT8 and INT4, and it has DirectML which can be used for upscaling processes. Not sure if AMD is going to have a direct competitor to DLSS.

It is September and still nothing from either camp. I'd lay money on a delay at this point. With supply chain issues almost guaranteed, and the fact current gen pricing was revealed during that year's E3, it continues to be a strange year indeed.

Typically this is not how pricing works though. Margins can be manipulated way beyond sticker price. In either case, waiting too much longer could backfire with the buyers who need time to budget. And there is the elephant in the room, the world economy in lock-down. It might become a difficult decision if and when to release? Next year might actually end up being the lesser of the two evils? Hopefully I'm wrong, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say holiday 2021.

On a lighter note, I hear the series x is shorter than the rtx 3090

Its amazing to me that now people are calling $500 for a GPU "entry level". I remember when entry level was $100, and enthusiast was $500. Graphics cards have gotten really expensive.

I cant remember the last time I bought a GPU new, they've all been second hand as the price has been ridiculous for years! maybe I might only game on the PS5 as PC gaming is too expensive. (Except the constant free games on EPIC!)

I think rather than announce a price, they should just keep it a mystery... Swipe your credit card and we'll take an undisclosed amount of $$ from your account. Maybe they could randomize it for each person, so they add a gambling element as well.

Hell of a lot better than the lame XBox S option, IMO. As far as I know, there isn't an optical drive option for that.

There's not supposed to be an optical version of the S. It's all-digital. It's also the lowest barrier of entry into next-gen. $299 is going to go a long way in the casual market.

I know, that was my point. There is no optical drive, and there is no additional optical drive accessory (which is what was claimed for PS5 in my earlier quote).

That's why I think that system SUCKS. Anyone wanting backward compatibility is forced to go with the more expensive XBox X, or buy all their games again digitally...as far as I understand it.

Pretty clever move by MS...
