I don't think anyone is dumb enough to release nextgen exclusives for either platform. It makes no sense to put all that $$$ into building a game for a new platform with a tiny install base, when that game can almost certainly be paired down a bit to run on a lower-end box with very similar architecture.

It's the same reason that we don't have many 3rd party exclusives for Playstation or Xbox anymore. Now that the architecture is so similar between PC, xbone, PS4, xbone series s & x, PS5, there's absolutely no reason to not support ALL of them.

The only question is whether to use some kind of a "smart delivery" system for a single SKU or sell them separately.

Exclusives made a bit of sense a while back, but I think you're right. I mean, they want $$, get products out to as many platforms as possible right? I hope that's how they're going with this. I still want a next gen box, but it would be nice if I didn't have to for 1 or 2 games.

It wasn't that long ago that Sony revealed games like Sackboy, Miles Morales, and the new Horizon will be cross-gen. This was after they'd already thrown shade at Microsoft for cross-gen support, harping on about "believing in generations". Turns out that was basically a lie to try and capitalize on all the backlash Microsoft was getting for their own cross-gen stance. I wouldn't put anything past Sony at this point.

Ratchet & Clank would make sense to keep exclusive, as it was fundamentally built for that SSD.

Spiderman, however, there's absolutely no reason why it shouldn't run just fine on a PS4. Making it a PS5 exclusive would be stupid.

This is the game they gaffed on already though, regarding a PC release.

I know nothing really means anything until the day of release and we see what they're really doing. It's just a nice thought until then. Low budget gamer here would rather sink money into a new TV before a new (hard to get) console.

I'm with you. I consider myself a pretty big fan of 'cross-gen' gaming myself.

yeah size isn't a issue for me, it's more how many 747's it sounds like when you're gaming.

Same here. Regarding the comparison I think seeing it being torn down gave a good sense of scale, even if that gent is smaller in stature...it's a large device. Much better looking imo though.

Regarding noise, when I finally get one I'll run it with the side off and a fan feeding it cooler air if need be. I just need a desktop fan that fits the aesthetic

Size is an issue for me. Historically I buy the 'slim' versions of consoles, so that massive networking device is a bit of a shock. Especially considering how it cannot be laid on its side. No being designed to lay on its side either...



Less of an issue for TV center users but that'd loom over my desk setup.

The haptic feedback in the DualSense controller would be awesome if it's utilized properly. I can't see myself liking the adaptive triggers though, I'd imagine that could get overused and perhaps annoying.

With all the fancy tech they put into the controller I wonder how the battery life or durability will be? I personally hate built in lithium batteries and would choose having AA's any day, of course, I also have a bunch of very good rechargeable batteries and a good charger too so that helps

Triggers are the only thing I'm interested in. But agree overuse could be a huge issue.

Most of the other **** on the controller is gimmicky and will only get used on first party over the first few years and then slowly die off.

I think the trigger tension is a more useable option for various games. I hear you though, I have a number of games where I turn rumble off all together.

Different strokes. I am ok with some rumble in racing games but beyond that pretty much hate it in shooters, 3rd person action or story driven games. The triggers I hate universally though. First thing I will do is disable that crap.

I can never find the buttons on my PS4 main unit without a flashlight. Not sure why they put the black button into the black part of the console again.

yes and no. I've had a hard time finding them at first too, LEDs would've made it so much easier. But seriously, there's two buttons, one right one left, i don't need to see them to operate them. Still they could've solved it in a better way, granted.

You don't really need them all the time. I don't have many discs and use the controller for on/off. So, I can never find them when I look. But, it's usually pretty dark where the console is. I don't want a bunch of LEDs either because they always over-bright those things and in a dark room gaming LEDs are annoying.

Is this accurate? No 1440p support? It's not a huge deal breaker, but the TV I was looking at doesn't have hdmi 2.1, so 120hz at 1440p was what I was hoping for, but I guess that might not be doable now...any input to help clear my early morning foggy thoughts?
