Yes and no.

If you play a game that is available now and want to experience it at better settings, it is no different than someone updating their video card for higher resolution and more FPS.

I'm contemplating whether or not I'll try and pre-order the new Xbox because of the next Destiny 2 expansion. Have played it on PC and XB1 and it is hard to go back to 30FPS from what the PC does, but... sitting on your couch with a controller is a lot more comfortable after a long day at work than sitting with the M&KB.

Every generation of consoles and new hardware can ultimately be written off as "it won't be taken advantaged of for a while" and yet, that is our hobby, and we do it time and time again.

We're at the point of diminishing returns, the visuals arent going to be that drastically improved now.

Call of Duty BO Cold War doesnt look all that advanced compared to its previous entries. (might be a bad example though). And are you going to get that much better than Death Stranding or Ghost of Tsushima (sp?).

Yes to FPS and resolution improvements though, but thats always going to happen with each generation. Of course we're also almost at a point where the capability is exceeding the hardware required (how many people have 8k TV's....or even 4k.....My TV's are 4K capable but im not even thinking about upgrading it let alone 8k......)

IN any case the big draw for consoles is exclusives...and frankly none of the exclusives on PS5 are my taste. MY PC can handle the multiplats (no not at 4k 60fps but im one of those people who can play 30fps at 1080p), and right now the games im into are NOT graphical showcases.

I've built my entire gaming PC for couch gaming. Big screen 4k TV, xbox wireless controller, wireless keyboard/mouse, home theater surround system. You don't need to do the "sit behind a desk stare 6 inches into the monitor" thing if you build yourself a good HTPC for that purpose.



I'd like to buy a PS5 but the sole purpose would be to play Last of Us 2 and maybe a few other exclusives, they'd all be connected to the same home theater system.

I’ve got my 50” 4K tv hooked up to the PC but depending on the game the game pad just doesn’t cut it in competitive type games if others are using the mouse and keyboard. I’ve trie various things that try to limit the discomfort I have with couch M&KB but can’t find something that doesn’t feel off. I’ve tried lap desks, built small tables for an IKEA chair, etc but it just felt off for some reason. That and it seemed to not just feel as simple and natural vs sitting at the desk.

I’ve got a PS4 this generation and it my first Sony console since the PS2. Caught up on the exclusives but with how the market is going, with things like Horizon coming to PC, there might not be a need to have another one. My friends all play Xbox live stuff and the game pass deal has just made it so that I am purchasing even fewer games a year but playing way more, and different kinds, on both XB1 and PC. If I hadn’t bought the PS4 their game pass light is an amazing deal for new PS users all for the same price as plus, but am I going to buy a PS5 to play updated things I could do on the 4, I don’t know.

This. This generation especially, is becoming something much more like upgrading a PC... although the new consoles are cheaper than upgrading my PC, and will last longer than a PC upgrade too.

I've been predicting for some time that both xbox and playstation will be making a play to take over the role of PC gaming. Fast framerates, m+k support, and cross-play, will go a long way in that direction.

Lol, it’s $200 more than I wanted to spend as i wasn’t planning to get a extra controller, hated bloodborne so not interested in demon souls and never really liked the spider man games, although the preview looks pretty good. I’ll probably sell demon souls when I get it

Really the only thing extra I wouldn't have got was another controller, You always have to buy a couple of games to go with it. Well until the Series X as I will just pick up the console and use gamepass for now. I see after I bought they have a poor reputation but I do believe they are legit. If not whatever, just get the money back through your credit card.

I actually got the first at gamestop, then got the two others as backups and was going to cancel them when launch day was closer.
However, being retired and on a fixed income and seeing Ebay prices made me realize that selling the second two could cover the entire cost of the one I'm keeping for myself.
That's important for someone in my situation.

As i said before, I initially ordered the two extra in case one fell through/was cancelled which sometimes happens with pre-orders.

Having a different opinion isn't trolling, and I havent insulted anyone.

I posted that I thought it was a scumbag move the way Sony has handled the pre-orders for PS5 and I stand by that. Its nothing like a "crying fit" or "conniption fit" b.s. that you're desperately trying to make it out to be.

I will say the same thing about Microsoft tomorrow if they do the same thing. I'm usually a big Nintendo fan but I've also called them greedy scum for how they've been handling their new Mario games from the 35th anniversary event.
