Newer & sturdier controllers, without the drift problems of the originals.
Newer wireless NIC, should avoid the orange screen of death.
Potential for jailbreaking and overclocking.
For $75 it's a no brainer for me & my family.
Battery life would be the only thing. Controllers can be switched and Ive never had(heard of) problems with the NIC.
Nintendo shut down pretty much all exploits with newer revisions of switches so I wouldnt expect anything else. If you want a modded switch youre going to have to find an old one.
I’m looking at grabbing one during the holidays. Should be nice to have while I’m deployed.. I’m not sure what the big deal is about a “pro” though. The battery life will be awful if they go with a high-powered system, and how do you keep that kind of hardware cool? It’s already heat-soaking from your greasy nerd fingers, and putting a fan in there is no good due to the portability portion being important.
The switch is good the way it is as long as they focus on efficiency.

So you're saying that Nintendo is good at securing its consoles against exploits? Can you think of another Nintendo console that has ever not been hacked?

I have no clue about the Nintendo homebrew scene. Im saying that if youre using homebrew as a way of justifying a new switch thats not a good point.

As I recall, the guys who hacked the gamecube discovered that the secret key that protected the system was "Mario". Then Nintendo changed it on the Wii to something like "Mar1o".

Well it's not just Nintendo, Nvidia was the reason why the switch got hacked in the first place, because Nvidia left a exploit in the Tegra chipset. Which since got fixed in the hardware revision that came out sometime last year.
It's not impossible at this point, just extremely unlikely. Nintendo has beefed up the software side of the protection, while Nvidia fixed the hardware faults.

Witcher 3 complete edition will hit Switch on Oct 15
Some info from TechSpot:
At any rate, if you've never played The Witcher 3 before or you have but want to experience it in a new way, feel free to pre-order a Switch copy for yourself. Physical editions of the port will run you a full $60, but don't scoff just yet. In true CD Projekt Red fashion, you'll get several extra goodies for your money.
For starters, that $60 nets you the Complete Edition of the game, which includes both expansion packs: Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone. The packs are ordinarily priced at $20 and $10 respectively. Additionally, physical copies of the port will include a Witcher Universe: Compendium lore booklet, a stylized paper world map, and some free stickers.
“Are you at all concerned, as Trump said, that we cannot let the cure be worse than the problem itself?” Haines asked.
Biden noted in his reply that the COVID-19 cure “will make the problem worse, no matter what.”
The battle speed settings in the switch version of DQ is VERY NICE!
I really wish the pc/ps4 version had it, vanilla DQ 11 is so slow and clunky.
The music still sucks though, real instruments or not, I still ****ing hate the battle music and field theme.
Sadly with how famous that music is in Japan it's never going to change, and while I agree it still sucks, it doesn't suck as much as the midi version. OMFG I wanted to tear my ears off.
Haha except for Xenoblade Chronicles X I think my entire Wii-U library is now on Switch:
Mario Kart 8 > MK8 deluxe
Bayonetta 2 > Switch Port
BotW > Switch Port/version
Mario Maker > Mario Maker 2
Smash Bros Wii-U/3DS > Smash Bros ultimate
Splatoon > Splatoon 2
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze > Switch port
Pikmin 3 > I think theres a Pikmin 4 coming out sometime.
Tokyo Mirage Sessions > Tokyo Mirage Sessions Encore (just announced)
This is a fun game for any JRPG fan who never played it on Wii-U (Which is a lot I would guess) Good battle system, very light hearted setting (very different feeling because of it). I think the censorship is still there and fanboys are still miffed (Its not nearly as bad as they cry about...most are just head scratchers but doesn't CHANGE the game in any way)
None of them are really worth it to me to double dip a second purchase (except MK8, I think I'll like having the proper battlemode to change things up in multiplayer) come Switch time.

Yeah, the big glaring omission is Mario 3d world. Maybe Nintendo is saving that for a slump?

As far as I can tell 3D world is a major Mario title isn't it? Seems like those are restricted to 1 per major console only.
Mario 64 = N64
Sunshine = Cube
Galaxy = Wii
3D World = Wii-U
Odyssey = Switch.
Then you get the so-called spinoff titles (New Super Mario Bros series), which gets ported/new version on every system. I suppose New Super Mario Bros was the major 3DS title but it did find its way to the home consoles.
So Im not sure if 3D world is going to find its way to Switch, but I wont be surprised if it didnt, nor will i be surprised if it did. Nintendo seems to want to try to get every relevant title from Wii-U to Switch and then just leave the Wii-U in the history books forever.

The really successful nintendo consoles gets more than one though, nes had mario bros 1 to 3, snes had World 1 & 2, and the wii had Galaxy 1&2.
So they can port 3d world without breaking any rules.
Those are sequals so I don't think that counts, as they're still part of whatever mainline Mario series of that console generation is.
Regardless the whole "1 mainline Mario game per console" philosophy seems more like a gentlemen's agreement than a real rule anyways, they're not breaking any rules regardless of what they do with Mario.

Pretty crazy for a $60 reskin of a damn near 30 year old game targeted for just the one system.
Its a little more than a reskin but they should have worked out the frame drops. It seems to be missing that Nintendo polish where everything they make always runs at a solid frame rate.
Finished the game lol. A couple of days with nothing to do coupled with playing the old version makes it quick. It’s a great remake despite the frame drops.
You can test it in game, if you get a new item the game will suddenly drop framerate or if the game loads a new area. However if you're already in that area and go around the same place the framerate will be locked.
It's only when it loads assets that it drops the framerate, and the vsync kicks in and drops it to 30fps for a second and then back to 60.
Can’t watch the video now but since having already beat the game I’m sure it’s not just from loading. There are areas where there is water where it is always choppy like the swamps.
