current hardware sales totals:

wii u ....... 7.9m
xbone .... 9.1m
ps4 ........ 16.1m

Looks like xbone has finally passed WiiU, and is having a very healthy sales season. 'Still going to be tough catching up to PS4 though.

Hard to believe, but it looks like PS4 is selling 4 times faster than WiiU. PS4 has literally twice as many units sold, despite being on the market half as long. Kindof embarrassing for Nintendo.

WiiU looks like its getting a nice bump over this holiday season, but from my eyes it looks likely to be less successful than gamecube. Will be interesting to see what Nintendo's next console looks like.

No idea on the current state of that site, buy they used to be considered an unreliable source, but that was 4-6 years ago.

No way XB1 is at 9 million. They announced that many shipped to retail recently. Sony is at 15 million to consumer and are the only one who has announced sell through numbers.

Wii U still seems to sell 1st party games well. I don't expect it will ever keep up with the other two, but the next Legend of Zelda game could give it a big boost. Mario Maker + a big price drop could sell me one.

Xbox' lineup for next year is abysmal compared to PS4. I will agree on the WiiU though.

I'm honestly bothered by the state of the ps4, i have hopes this will change in the future though, with the largest install base it has the least amount of interesting games, if it wasn't for netflix mine would get no use at all, i could sell it and still have something to play netflix on.

I've been eyeing the wiiu for a while, with the zelda hd remake and the new zelda coming up i might get one next year

As a pc gamer the only consoles that I would consider owning are the wii u and 3ds.

Nothing about the xbone or ps4 interests me right now.

My PS4 heats up at little things like putting the TV box on top or putting my ipad on top of it while running. I learnt it is not because there are any exhausts on the top but that just the slightest pressure on it was causing the fan to slow down and run at lower RPMs making it heat up.

Any smaller might suck ass for that console.

My XBONER just runs hot period lol. Ain't nobody can do about that.

I'm sticking with my PS3 for now. I'll get a PS4 eventually. I'm waiting for the purported PS1/2 emulator to be released for PS4. (I sadly skipped the PS2 generation)

If Sony made a PS4 that had the PS2 and PS3 chips in it (PS1 is fine emulated), I'd pay $1000 for it. They could call it Playstation 4 Generations. Get it? 4 generations.....

I'd take an Xbone if someone gave me one, but I have zero interest in the Wii U.

I got thoroughly sick of upgrading a PC every other year to play games. I only have to buy one console every 5-10 years.

Funny thing I noticed, in the same cabinet on my wall unit, the PS4 backflows hot air onto itself, gets hot, and ramps up the fan to compensate. The XBO stays warm and quiet the entire time somehow.

I never got around to buying a PS3, and there's a handful of exclusives I still want to play: god of war, uncharted, last of us, etc. You think they'll release PS4 versions of all of them? I might just skip PS3 altogether.

Buy a used PS3. I am guessing that uncharted might see a PS4 version, but not god of war.

Got a wii u last year, probably ps4 this time next year IF price comes down to about $300 and there are enough next-gen exclusive games. Right now there's not really anything out to justify (for me and my kids) either a xbone or ps4.
Then again, I'm always late to the console party, didn't get a ps3 until 2011.

I'm trying to be optimistic that other solid titles will roll out within a few months of that being released.

You should take a look at the Playstation event that happened this month. TONS of titles coming for PS4 and a ton of them are very, very unique. I think you will be quite satisfied. I also plan to buy a PS4 next year, I think 2015 is the year of the PS4 in terms of games, to be honest.

I don't think most publishers/developers expected the PS4 to dominate, so most bet on the XBOne in the beginning. That's why the first year for the PS4 was a bit dry. Now the developers who realized how far ahead the PS4 is are finally in a position to start delivering titles for the system.

Sony has a history of announcing games earlier than ms. We probably now know about every 2015 PS4 exclusive, while there's probably several xbox one 2015 exclusives that are still secret.

MS tends to throw alot more $$ at fewer titles, so we end up with stuff like Halo and Gears, and I think we're starting to see the fruits of that early on. I think we all expect it to follow last cycle's pattern though, where Sony's exclusives trounce ms's after the first 3 or 4 years.

Will do! And that's what I was hoping to hear regarding games. I don't buy many, and what I do buy I usually get an awful lot of time out of - so even if only 3-4 really great games are released, color me happy

Where did you see that the Wii U was outselling xbox one? March was one of their weaker months where they sold about 70K units in the US (vs 300K+ for PS4/XBO). It did outsell the 360 in Japan though, maybe that's what you were thinking of.

All those similar type articles were making estimates on sales month to month based on the percentage statements Nintendo was releasing because they were not actually releasing numbers and there were a few months in spring and early summer that those articles said the estimates based on the percentage statements would put wii u slightly ahead of the xbone for a month. Those same articles that were putting it that way were also quick to point out that units shipped does not equal units sold.

Weird I dunno, Nintendo's sales figures were available for the end of March, June, and Sept. And yeah, while units shipped doesn't give you the most accurate picture possible, there shouldn't be a huge gap between that figure and actual sales, since no retailer wants to carry inventory for long periods of time. Even if the actual sales were 50% of shipped units, I'd find it hard to believe that Wii U would ever surpass Xbox One unless you're talking about Japan only.
