So who's getting an NVida Shield?

$350 NVidia Shield coming out in less than 30 days. It looks like it COULD be better than the Vita, but lets be honest; this is just a fancy way to play your Android games...

Still, I'm drawn to its cool-looking design. I'll wait 6 months to see how it goes and if I want to get one.

Not sure who the market is for this, people without cell phones? This is going to fail miserably. A handheld that plays android games, you can already play on a android phone, where do I sign up?

Don't forget that you can also play pc games with input lag on it!

I don't see the point of this device, especially at the price they're asking.

why do you assume that there will be input lag?

I'm seriously considering this thing, though I think it's expensive for what it is.

I would like a WiiU experience on PC, though I expect that it simply wont be. Hell, PC hardly has gamepad support. PC is the slowest to evolve.

I will probably hold out. Perhaps the Wii U pad will be hacked on PC. There is progress there. I'm trying not to hold my breath.

If only the games would come to Wii U, I would be happy.

Well, it had input lag in the videos they have up demonstrating the thing, so I'm not really assuming anything.

oh, perhaps have wait for reviews. A shoehorn none the less though, which is too bad.

This will fail terribly. They should of made shield an android app and sell the controller dock separately. You can play PC games now with practically any device using streaming software.

They should focus on refining the software to perfectly sync audio/video/input.

I might buy it. But then, this is how I calculate if it's worth it. I can buy this for $350 or at $5 a game on Amazon or Steam, I could have a new collection of 70 games for the same price. Hmm, what shall I choose? That would be my biggest record of buying games in one calendar year. Tough choice.

with a system like that it is laughable.
a gaming device, with actually no support by any game developer company lol.

even vita with support by sony and other company does not even have many games.

so look out, you are simply buying something that will get replaced within 6 months or a year

i am not sure what is the point of this system lol.......

That video shows some good reasons not to buy it.

You have apps that rotate vertically and its not easy to hold the controller sideways.

I like to swipe commands by typing and the layout is inconvenient to hold the gamepad in one hand and swipe with the other. What if I want to just hold the screen, the weight from the controller will make it hard to use my left hand thumb to do anything.

Reading any websites looks like a pain because the vertical axis is constrained by the screen height.

After watching this video, they should of just made a tablet and gamepad separate somehow and let me use it naturally.

I'm sorry to say, that video convinced me not to buy. If Nvidia could fix these problems, then it would actually be useful for my needs.

It definitely looked interesting, but just usability went out the window for me. I was planning on using it for beyond gaming.

the rotation of this device will suck, its big, it is in weired shape

I've never had a hand-held gaming device of any sort. I've played friends' Gameboys, Atari Lynx, PSPs, and Vitas, and all I can say is: Meh.

                                    This monstrosity?

Basically this. If it was a 7" tablet with attachable game pad, it would have made a lot more sense.

As it, it is a joke.

In my opinion, I think its a product to test their name in the waters. Quite honestly, I think they are under the assumption gamers will eat up anything with their name on it. Some of them even on this very forum. But as the product stands, fortunately, people realize it is a over sized android device that cost $350.

For those that already have a tablet, when you install Splashtop HD on your android device, you can run your pc games fullscreen with a NVidia card and a tegra as long as you keep the resolution down to 1280x720.

I kept having problems getting the error the program cannot work in fullscreen until I changed the resolution away from 1920x1080.

Shield totally unnecessary for me now.

Most of us have cell phones capable of playing these games, and if we needed to there are ways to use a controller with our cell phones currently.

I like the idea of streaming my steam library to a handheld or to my TV. I could see myself enjoying my Steam games in my bed late at night or when I want to do big screen gaming instead of lugging my PC out of my office to connect to my 60inch I could just connect this bad boy. My only gripe is cost. It's too expensive for it's limited use. The android stuff doesn't' interest me and for android gaming I would go with a more Android built console.
